Doing the website is the easiest part.
Do you want to sell BTC with people paying with their credit card? Do you expect your customers to wire their money to your bank account? Where will you get the BTC that your customers will buy through your website? How do you plan to convince your customers that your business is legit and trustworthy?

Find answers to those questions before thinking about the website.

Everybody's well aware of the problem. The real problem though, is that the community has shown it's unable to solve it before real trouble actually happen. So we'll wait till the average number of transactions per day reach 200K. There will be many delays, and transactions with smallish fees won't get confirmed, but at least, everybody then will be convinced something must be done, and it will finally be done.

I'm not worrying much about it as there's no lack of solutions. Minimal amount allowed to make a transaction can be raised, fees can be raised, blocksize can be increased. It will be corrected at the very last minute.

To people who are not familiar with this magazine, it's very highly regarded everywhere in Europe. It's British and more than 150 years old. I bet this cover page alone is worth a rise of at least 3% in BTC's price. The article is also available online but you need to register.

What problems? Digital currencies only make things easier. When it comes to remittance, which is the example here, BTC is a faster and cheaper way to exchange money between people far from each other. That's it. If the problem was the high cost of a service like Western Union, OK, the problem is solved, but it was a small one.

If you check a search engine, you'll find thousands of entries for "narcodollar". But I don't see the dollar suffering much from this situation. In Europe, the Red Cross doesn't mind using the same Euros as the Italian mafia. I have knives in my kitchen, they probably can be used to kill people, but I need them to eat.

I support Hawala, it's a great system, entirely based on trust, just like the Swiss banks used to be. American regulations have killed Swiss banks, but I hope Hawala will survive. Besides BTC, Hawala is also the only way to transfer money between Egypt and Syria, or other troubled places. And you don't need a computer to use Hawala.

No, don't say that. The Spanish economy had the fastest growth in Europe during the second quarter. I know it's not enough considering how bad they were, but they're on the right path. It would be scary for Catalonia to move away from it. I don't see investors following them, and it would make things much more complicated for all companies who have part of their business in Catalonia, and the other regions of Spain.

Very true.  I see miners as business owners, and that's exactly what they are. The BTC fan mining on his home computer when he's at work is long gone. If you've seen the pictures of the Chinese farm in China (sorry, I can't find them right now), they're paying people to monitor their equipment 24/7.

I expect BTC to be more and more successful in Russia. Well, if the law don't change again.
The plan right now is to ban exchanging BTC to rubles. That means the few Russian people who own BTC will have o keep them, and that's good. Who wants rubles anyway? Russian currency has always been seen as junk money outside of Russia. Better have BTC by far.

Nice, but more is needed. You've got to explain, otherwise people would just see BTC as a payment method, like paypal or a credit card. I admit it's a good start for a conversation, though. Many teachers do that in school, they show the students what something can do, before explaining how it actually works.

Yes, provocative and selfish, too. I was supporting an independent Scotland, but Catalonia is a part of Spain, and it couldn't live without the rest of Spain. Some catalans think they will emulate Switzerland, but they're very wrong, they would not get any foreign investment, and they don't have any natural resources like Scotland has in the North Sea. Also, in case of trouble, the ECB won't have any other choice but to let them die.

I wonder what the guy was doing for a living. Because buying 10,000 guns, that's a substantial investment, even if buying cheap stolen goods. $20 a piece? That's $200,000. You can buy a nice house for that kind of money. It would have been a better choice.

I've never heard of that CCCB thing but I know Singapore and it's a lovely place to spend a few days (only awfully expensive and crowded). It's also one of the greatest place in the world to do business. I highly recommend opening a bank account there, like millions of non-Singaporeans do.

Blockchain.info is up and working. I've been using them for nearly 3 years. I know this service isn't perfect, but an online wallet is sure convenient. I'll keep on using them in the future. I change my laptop at least once a year, and I have 2 other desktop computers and a tablet, everything is much easier with blockchain.info.

The killer replaced by fiction. I'm not sure what's worse. Maybe we shall forbid all statues of known people. It's nicer to have statues of lions or eagles, otherwise we'll have to wait about 2,000 years. When you visit Greece or Roma, you can go to museums with plenty of old statues of people who were famous in their days, but most visitors have no idea of who they represent (except the emperors, of course).

There are 2 different issues, let's not mix them. One problem is scarcity, the other is price. There's plenty of water in Dubai despite the place being surrounded by desert. The problems are in Chad or Sudan where millions live with less than 2$ a day.

Also, I've noticed than in several European countries, cost of water is less than half the price of your water bill. House delivery and used water treatment costs more than water itself.

It's important to add that Sweden is becoming the world's first country without any privacy. Everything is registered, everything is sanitized, everything is controlled. The government is aware of all transactions, and all professional activities. There's no freedom. I see no difference between Sweden and IS. It's exactly the same system, where the government is the Master, and all citizens are puppets.

I always like new young people starting new services, but to be successful, the newcomer must propose something than the competition doesn't. And that's tough, when the competitor is pretty well regarded like blockchain.info. (I've been using it for 3 years).

I'm reading here they've been accepting BTC for 2 days. That's interesting. We'll see in a few months if they have many customers choosing it. As a webmaster, I like that they are several registrars and hosting companies accepting BTC. Somehow, it's now possible to start web-based businesses without spending anything but BTC.

I know there was a plan to extend Gemini to Europe. After MtGox's failure, I guess most people will prefer to buy BTC from a company close to their home. If Gemini wants European customers, it will need to open an office locally, it will be easier now that the EJC has ruled that exchange services are exempted from VAT.
