1201  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Prime Minister: DAO’s an ‘Interesting Challenge’ for Lawmakers. OH RLY? on: May 24, 2016, 11:06:24 PM
I hope Medvedev will pack the shit and move to North Korea, there, it will be much easier for him to brainwash old ladies and young idiots.

I guess his plan is to turn Russia into a new larger North Korea, and he's not far from success. He hasn't understood yet that the world where Russia was controlling everything and everyone inside its borders is crashing down. BTC is reorganizing the world, and the more centralized countries will see the biggest changes.
1202  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Monsanto want to dump their shares, would you buy some ? on: May 24, 2016, 10:57:01 PM
Monsanto is probably the biggest enemy the planet has ever had. This company is destroying food and nature, and even people because once a farmer starts using Monsanto products, he cannot go back to normal farming: the land is destroyed.
1203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: transaction speed of Bitcoin as users increase on: May 24, 2016, 10:51:42 PM
I guess you weren't around during the stress tests of last July. I had one transaction which never went through, and another which took more than 12 hours to go through. A solution is in the pipeline, but it's taking one hell of a time to materialize.
1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would there be interest in using your BTC to invest in US Stocks? on: May 24, 2016, 10:49:31 PM
I for one would be interested, but that's because I'm not American. I'm not living in the US nor do I have a bank account in America. There are a few US companies I'd willing to invest into. I'm doubtful Americans could be interested, but if you could make it easier and cheaper for foreigners to invest in companies listed on NASDAQ, you have a market.
1205  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shock as 15-year-old student filmed on Snapchat having sex with 25 boys... on: May 23, 2016, 11:39:09 PM
What was in her mind with having sex with multiple male in the toilet? is that an initiation or they paid her.

Paying her? Why? There's been no report of rape nor of any money exchanged. Some people may not like it but sex between teenagers is common place nearly everywhere. I agree that one girl having 25 encounters in a row is out of the ordinary, but there's videos showing exactly that freely available on the Internet, so I guess nobody thought something was wrong. I'm confident the girl could quickly forget about it if only the guys involved don't harass her about it.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit is cancelled ? on: May 23, 2016, 11:31:18 PM
I thought it should be out in April-May but I don't see anything about it yet so I was wondering if It got cancelled or they are planning to run it on June ?

I'm understanding you so well! It isn't cancelled but it's taking so much time that an average person is forced to think that the whole thing has been killed. I'm not expecting it before the halving.
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Known large bitcoin holders on: May 23, 2016, 04:59:13 PM
Can we make a list of guys that are not anonymous and they have a nice stash like 10000btc+ ? I can only remember of Winklevoss Twins and Tim Draper.

No, we can't and we should not. Haven't you heard of privacy? The people who have invested in BTC enjoy privacy a lot. I don't have much, but I like that nobody can find out how many BTC I have.
1208  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shock as 15-year-old student filmed on Snapchat having sex with 25 boys... on: May 23, 2016, 04:54:54 PM

PS:
I live in a country where there is war, so I know very well what it means pain, Here children lose their parents early, even I almost died in an accident that people were watching and nobody came to save me, people were taking me photos and filming while I languished on the floor.

photos and videos of my accident were all social networks and all news programs. Before someone make misjudgments would like to say that I know well as it is.

The point here:

How can we help girls who are in this situation?

To where the school can give good education?

What parents should do in this situation?

Video is crappy, you can't see anything!

So, what's wrong? The girl doesn't need help. Why would she? Maybe it's you who does. In Norway, at the end of the school year, it's a practice for girls to have sex with as many boys as they can in a day. In Nice, France, not long ago, the police arrested 2 prostitutes and their pimp. The girls were 14 and the pimp was 17.

I don't know where you live, but I guess you live in a country with rigid sexual correctness. Some places, many places are much more relaxed.
1209  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crowdfunding: The Re-Opening of BitcoinStarter.com on: May 23, 2016, 04:46:08 PM
Any questions just drop them below in this thread and I'll get to them.

There's only one question. I've been at your website before, and I thought it was a great idea, so I wonder why you closed it? I wasn't aware of that actually, so I wish you more luck this time. The people who start projects must fully reveal themselves, but I like the idea of anonymous investments. But you need to create some kind of control mechanisms to prevent the people making projects from running away.
1210  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Portugal runs for four days straight on renewable energy alone on: May 21, 2016, 04:33:39 PM

You should have a look at what's going on in Africa. There isn't a single nuclear power station there. Several countries would want one, but they just can't afford to subsidize the building of a station. Renewable energy one the other hand is booming in many places.

Africa is a continent.

Now it's something to brag about, that there is no nuclear power.

Wow...

Yes, sir. Dozens of countries. More people than in the US, Europe and Japan combined all living without nukes, and without any plan to go atomic. This shows it can be done.
1211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum ? on: May 21, 2016, 04:31:36 PM
BTC remains king, but with so many questions regarding scalability, governance, soft fork/hard fork, you can't blame anyone to look at alternatives. Also, when there's mystery about Satoshi, everything's clear with Vitalik Buterin, who is a young guy with a sharp mind. If BTC were to fail, the successor will be Ether.
1212  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EgyptAir Flight Believed to Have Crashed at Sea; Egypt Cites Possible Terrorism on: May 20, 2016, 11:25:46 PM
Hey, let's not go too fast!
We don't know yet the cause of that crash. I see only one culprit at this time, and that's France. If someone put a bomb aboard, there is a security issue at the airport. If it's a technical failure, there should have been technicians identifying the problem before take off.
1213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Portugal runs for four days straight on renewable energy alone on: May 20, 2016, 11:22:20 PM
It is a great development. Pretty much all these countries have to import coal or gas to generate electricty, so if they can generate via renewables, it should start to improve their trade deficits. Sucks for those countries who export coal or gas though.

It's a great development?

All it takes to achieve this goal is to crank electricity prices up to where nobody can afford them.

Also it's a lie.

Heating buildings and cooking for the country do not run on electric.

The headline is this -

Portugal runs for four days straight on renewable energy alone

In the body you see a more accurate statement -

Portugal kept its lights on with renewable energy alone for four consecutive days last week in a clean energy milestone

No, it's real, check the Portuguese page:
http://zero.ong/consumo-de-eletricidade-em-portugal-foi-assegurado-durante-mais-de-4-dias-seguidos-por-fontes-renovaveis/

This is about all electricity consumption is the entire country. But I'm not really surprised. Portugal is very lucky regarding renewables with lots of wind from the ocean and good sun. But we shall consider we may at the time of the year when the consumption is at the lowest. There's no more need for heating, nor for air conditioners yet.

Bull.  There are all kinds of needs for energy other than electric.  Many, many things run on various fossil fuels and always will.  For example, a concrete manufacturing plant.  Cars and trucks.

I pointed out the lie.  Headlines says the "country ran on renewables alone."  Then down below you see it was the electric grid.  That's a fraction of total energy consumption.

Well, yes it's about electricity, but it's much more than lightning, so it's quite an achievement, considering the low maintenance cost of renewable energies.

I don´t give a fat rat´s ass.

Not sure about Portugal but Germany is just fucking ridiculous, highest electricity prices in Europe... Angry

fucking expensive, around 33 us-cents per kwH, and then bragging about negative wholesale  electricity prices when the sun shines  alot? PEOPLE PAY 33 CENTS no matter what the wholesale electricity price is!!!!!!!  Angry Angry Angry

People pay 33 cents for something that would cost 10 cents in a non bolshevist, free market economy. A small number of people benefit (those with large houses and ability to borrow big). Large, renowned companies like RWE and EON are close to being broke. Many towns depend on their dividends and are now broke, too. Welfare recipients need their electrical bill subsidized...not in Venezuela..in GERMANY.

Middle class has to pay and pay and pay for this bullshit. This whole renewable energy shit is just newspeak ecofascist propaganda

LEAVE ME ALONE WITH THAT GREEN SHIT UNTIL IT WORKS IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY

No, sir, there are at least 2 European countries where electricity is even more expensive.
I don't think there's a single country in the world where there is a free market for utilities. Nuclear energy was heavily subsidized when the first power stations were built. People have forgotten that fact which makes nuclear energy looks cheap but it isn't. Look at the new stations which are being built in France and Norway, I think they're already 3 times over budget.

I pay 10-12 cents per Kwhr.  The electric is a mix of natural gas, coal and nuclear, with a tiny bit of HIGHLY subsidized wind and solar.

Without those subsidies there wouldn't be any wind or solar.  Zero.  Yes there would be nuclear without subsidies.

You should have a look at what's going on in Africa. There isn't a single nuclear power station there. Several countries would want one, but they just can't afford to subsidize the building of a station. Renewable energy one the other hand is booming in many places.
1214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Banks Refused 6 Million Citizens Accounts, Bitcoin Doesn’t Refuse Anyone on: May 20, 2016, 11:18:00 PM
What? The UK is an easy country to open a bank account in. I tried to open a bank account in France and Germany and they didn't want me as a customer, but UK was much friendlier.
I have moved to UK a few months ago (from a EU country).
I don`t really agree with you that is an easy country to open a bank account . First of all you have to prove you address were you live ,must prove that you pay a rent, and must have a bill on your name on that address. I was paying rent but it had the bills included so I didn`t had any bill on that address with my name. Only one bank wanted to open an account for me. After 1-2 months (didn`t had a job at that time) I tryed to use my debit card attached to the bank account and...found out that they closed my account..without any warning, without any call, email, post (they sayed that they called me several times but they didn`t)
just my experience..

There are different banks offering different services and different accounts. I understand it can be tricky to open a basic current account, but it's sometimes much easier to open a business account.
1215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Websites That Accept Bitcoin for physical goods. on: May 20, 2016, 11:12:48 PM
Thanks for this list. You could make a website out of it. But it would need to be organized with topics and keywords...
Also, keeping it up to date is also quite some work.
I checked one link:
https://naked-runner.com/ (the name sounded funny) and that website doesn't say a word about BTC.

I have 5 BTC wallets, one Paypal account, one Skrill account, I also own some Ethereum and Dogecoin, and right now in my wallet there are Euros, Hungarian forints, and Swiss francs. I have only one girlfriend but when it comes to money, the more tools and currencies you have, the safer you are.
1220  Economy / Economics / Re: Factors That Make One Cryptocurrency Worth More Than Another on: May 17, 2016, 09:41:39 PM
From an economic standpoint, which factors make one cryptocurrency worth more than another?

1) current number of coins
2) maximum number of coins
3) rate of growth in the supply of coins
4) how many people/businesses accept it as a form of payment
5) total number of users
6) technical aspects of the protocol
7) number of exchanges that allow conversion to other cryptos or fiat currencies

Discuss.

I'm not a nerd. I don't like maths. How about features? How about perspectives?
Ethereum may one day surpass BTC because there's a full economic system growing alongside. Numbers are not much interesting, it's what behind that make a cryptocurrency successful or not.
