1581  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Restricting Voting to "Stakeholders" on: December 23, 2015, 04:27:30 PM
If we go back to the history books, there was a time where democracy was limited to taxpayers, for the very simple reason that there was no census of any kind, nor a proper administration to count how many people were leaving in a given place. So voting rights were restricted to those who were in the records books.

If you're not registered, you don't vote. What's new today is that a homeless without a job can register.
1582  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Putin will rule Russia for life? on: December 23, 2015, 04:21:03 PM
Pretty bad question. A better one would be to ask why every challenger disappears?
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead earlier this year.
Boris Berezovski was strangled in his London home.
Mikhaïl Khodorkovski has been forced to leave Russia...

This is the best you have got against Putin? Thieves such as Berezovski and Khodorkovski stole tens of billions worth of funds from the public funds, which resulted in the indirect deaths of millions of ordinary Russians. If you support these bandits against Putin, then you are not only against Putin, but against the Russians as well.

The problem isn't in the people I've named, it's in the Russian system. Can you name another country where political opponents get murdered? Or where they must leave the country? Those things do not happen in the UK, nor in Germany, nor in any other normal country.

Berezovski and Khodorkovski are not career politicians. They are criminals and murderers who looted the Russian public funds, when the American puppet Boris Yeltsin was the president. When Putin became the president, he came down hard on all these criminals and their Western backers. The real opposition politicians in Russia are people like Alexei Navalny and Yevgeny Roizman. Don't tarnish them by associating them with these crooks.

I'm not tarnishing anyone, you do. And note that you've failed to reply to my last question...
1583  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Brunei bans Christmas celebrations in public on: December 23, 2015, 04:15:44 PM
Is this news? I think Christmas celebrations are also banned in Somalia and Mauritania, and without any law, they are expected to remain modest in most of North Africa. This is why European countries should not be afraid to impose their customs and beliefs inside their own borders.
1584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many People Here Sell on eBay on: December 23, 2015, 04:11:21 PM
I have never used Ebay to buy or sell anything, because this website is marginal in most of the countries I'm spending time in. In Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Morocco, Slovenia, Ebay isn't the right place to do business. Even in Germany, Ebay is far from the best place to sell a car. Ebay's mostly American.
1585  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: December 23, 2015, 04:05:11 PM
Of course, BTC cannot replace fiat. I certainly don't want BTC to replace fiat. I love fiat. I'll never use anything but cash to get a drink. I love having a thick stack of banknotes in my pocket. The goal should be to replace credit cards, traveler checks, and that's huge.
1586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indonesian now in the top 10 bitcoin market in world... on: December 23, 2015, 04:01:29 PM
I wasn't expecting to see Indonesia here, but then with BTC still new and small, its development isn't linked to the traditional world order. Emerging countries from Asia or Africa may jump ahead of old, rich, established European countries. BTC will probably launch a new world order.

"Esto no está del todo relacionado con BTC.

Debería estar ahora mismo en España, pero no estoy por lo que estoy buscando alguien para sustituirme. Es un trabajo muy fácil, por lo tanto pago bajo en BTC). Estoy buscando alguien que haga unas cuantas llamadas de teléfono, preguntando detalles de anuncios clasificados.

Usted necesita tener un número de teléfono español, y hablar en español perfecto (no catalan y sin acento).

Enviar PM si está interesado"

Thanks for translation!

1589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Capacity increases for the Bitcoin system on: December 22, 2015, 06:44:10 PM
If the effort means smooth change of the bitcoin block size, it will be good. But 6 months is too long.

average data per block at the moment is only 66%.. still plenty of room for a while...

What do you think is safe? We must keep a safety margin, don't we? On my hard disks, I always keep at least 15% of free space. In my car, whose engine can rev to 6,500 RPM, I rarely exceed 4,500. The margin for more transactions is very small in my opinion. Average data per block should always remain below 50%.
1590  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU = stupid on: December 22, 2015, 06:35:34 PM
Hey, come on, it's only 3 guys in a Parliament which has more than 500 members!
This isn't a new law. And European system is very, very slow to turn a proposal into a law. It would also require a majority to support this proposal, so nobody should be afraid of that stupid idea.
1591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need advice on best Bitcoin wallet to replace Coinbase on: December 21, 2015, 11:34:05 PM
I advise not to replace coinbase with a single similar system. Get your own wallet with bitcoin core, publish the address on your website, and then use an exchange (possibly coinbase again), manually, to convert the BTC you'll get in fiat when you'll want it. I believe it will be the cheaper option.
1592  Local / Esquina Libre / Looking for a Spanish guy in Spain on: December 21, 2015, 11:27:07 PM
This isn't related to BTC at all.

I should be in Spain right now, but I'm not so I'm looking for someone to replace me. It's a very easy job, so low pay BTC). I'm looking for someone to make a few phone calls, asking details from classifieds.
You need to have a Spanish phone number, and speak perfect Spanish (no Catalan, and no accent).

Send PM if interested.
1593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will hit the 15,000,000 mark on.... on: December 21, 2015, 11:14:15 PM
I created a similar topic when BTC broke the 14,000,000 mark... Can't wait for the next halving. It's quite shocking to see BTC's creation still so fast when the 21,000,000 limit is more than 120 years away.

I expect a substantial price decrease after the mark is passed.
1594  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has Europe Reached the Breaking Point? on: December 21, 2015, 11:09:00 PM
You forgot one major source of conflict: Angela Merkel's position towards refugees. All countries were only willing to accept a very limited number of refugees, and suddenly Germany says hundreds ou thousands should be allowed to get in. Nobody expected that, but with Germany so powerful no one dared criticize Merkel. All the trouble in Hungary or Slovenia are only the results of Germany's choice to open the door.

There could be plenty of people willing to challenge Putin if Russia was a normal democracy under the rule of the law.
1596  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil Prices Slump to 11-Year Lows in Asia and Europe on: December 21, 2015, 10:50:38 PM
Yes, it's really stunning when you think about it that one BTC is worth more than 11 barrels of oil. Hey, I'm a longtime BTC supporter, but I think oil should be more valuable. It's just more useful, and you don't even need the Internet to use it.
1597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What wallets do you use and why? on: December 20, 2015, 12:47:40 PM
I wish I could use bitcoin core, but it's awful when you travel. It's taking a while to syncronize and sometimes, it's not working at all because of a proxy or a router which blocks it. blockchain.info remains the best option if you travel a lot. I also use multibit classic and I never keep anything at a exchange.
1598  Economy / Economics / Re: Minimum limit for buying BTC on: December 20, 2015, 12:39:34 PM
My experiences from 3 exchanges is that it's impossible to buy less than 0.1 BTC. And it's logical. Nobody wants to bother with less than that. On some exchanges you can have a peak of past exchanges, and you won't see anything below that. Most transactions are over one BTC.
1599  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hitler really did have only one testicle, German researcher claims on: December 20, 2015, 12:28:19 PM
A researcher?

I thought researchers were only doing serious stuff. Say, physics, chemistry, that kind of stuff. If one guy came to me saying he's researching the number of balls Hitler had, I would burst in laughter.

Is that a new science, searching and counting balls? Where do you get the funding to begin with?

 Cheesy
1600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2016 - Bitcoin or Blockchain? on: December 20, 2015, 12:22:44 PM
You can't oppose BTC and the blockchain. It's like Rolls Royce and the automotive industry. There's only one BTC but there are hundreds of blockchain. I believe there will be more than 1,000 blockchains before the end of 2016.

Blockchain is technology, whereas BTC is a currency, it's also some kind of a brand.
