1081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China to make Bitcoin (virtual properties) a civil right. on: June 28, 2016, 11:23:01 PM
Interesting and surprising news, but as always, you have to be very cautious with any news coming from China. If you go back to the Chinese article:

http://btckan.com/news/topic/20469

You read:
It does not enjoy the same status of a currency in law. It cannot and should not be circulated and used in the market like a currency. But, bitcoin transactions is an online transaction of commodities, ordinary citizen enjoy the freedom of participation on their own risks.

So owning BTC is a civil right but one must not use it as a currency. So it's white and black at the same time...
1082  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The destruction of the UK has started on: June 28, 2016, 12:02:56 AM
The UK has never really been united. I'm English, and British is now such a devalued description, that only the immigrants seem to use it with conviction. I think the Scots, Irish, Welsh and even the Cornish seem to feel the same way. If it turns out that only England comes out of the  EU, then I am happy with that. I'd be sad to lose the contributions made by the other members of the UK, but getting out of the EU and TTIP must be our number one priority. Actually this tribalism is common in many countries - look at Spain and France for example. It's even in America. When I was over there, some people would think of themselves as Texans ( for example ) first, and Americans second.

Well, I think of myself as a man. That's it. I have no sense of belonging to whatever...

Back to the subject, the problem is that the referendum made England+Scotland+Wales+Ireland even less united than they were. It wasn't easy to say how a Scot was different from an English, but Nicola Sturgeon can claim how different they are because they support the EU. Scotland is now much stronger, and that will make difficult to manage in Westminster. So something will have to break.
1083  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boris Johnson must give up his US citizenship now on: June 27, 2016, 11:57:24 PM
When Cameron leaves, Boris Johnson will probably succeed him but there's a problem. The man has 2 passports. One from the UK and another from the US. I can't imagine someone being head of government while carrying a foreign passport and paying tax to another country.

I've always dreamed of getting another passport, but when you're in politics, one must show full loyalty to the country.

Go explains that to all those evil Jews in the French Assemblée Nationale, who got an Israel passport Roll Eyes...

So, that's allowed in France? I'm surprised with the lack of national requirements in some European countries. Maybe Europe's been in peace for too long. In Africa or Eastern Europe, it's impossible to enter politics if you aren't 100% native.
1084  Economy / Economics / Re: The effect of Brexit on Bitcoin. on: June 27, 2016, 11:52:16 PM
There's been no effect. The Sterling keeps on going down, but BTC's fluctuations do not move in accordance. This between the £ and the $, or the £ and the €. BTC's in another world.
1085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should there be a Bitcoin committee that vets Bitcoin service providers? on: June 27, 2016, 11:44:44 PM
If the plan is to raise a bitcoin tax to finance the committee and its work, with a fee to get a license from that authority to anyone offering some kind of BTC service, I'm out of BTC.

Most people cannot trust their government, how could they trust a BTC committee?
1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that bitcoin was NOT affected by the Brexit. on: June 26, 2016, 11:13:53 PM
Are you surprised?
The opposite would have been the surprise, the people who have exchanged their Sterling for gold are pretty far from the average bitcoiner.
1087  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Spain calls for co-sovereignty on Gibraltar on: June 26, 2016, 11:06:43 PM
I assume that FUK means "free united kingdom" after Brexit.

No, it means Formerly United Kingdom. When Scotland ad Ireland will be gone, it will be down as the K. Or maybe the kingdom of england. No cap needed.
1088  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The destruction of the UK has started on: June 26, 2016, 11:03:32 PM

Nicola Sturgeon: Scottish parliament could block Brexit
Scotland’s first minister says she will consider asking MSPs to vote down legislation needed for UK to leave the EU

LOL! What will happen first? The UK leaving the EU or Scotland leaving the FUK?
1089  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Spain calls for co-sovereignty on Gibraltar on: June 26, 2016, 10:57:40 PM
You make it sound like the hapless residents are utterly dependent on free EU money subsidies, with no other way to avoid starvation.   Roll Eyes

Sources of revenue = retired/vacationing Brits that like being somewhere warm and sunny, banking, shipping, gambling, etc.

Do you actually know anything about Gibraltar?  I ask because there is a whiff of Space Ghost "I just heard about this, and I'm here to fix it!" in all this.

The Peace of Utrecht will not be broken over some Brexit butthurt.

This is you, basically:

"ZOMG U GUIZ I JUST HERD CATALONIA IS RIGHTFULLY THE PROPERTAY OF FRANCE QUICK WE MUST CORRECT THE UNDEMOCRATIC INJUSTICE OF THE TREATY OF CORBIAL UPVOTE IF YOU AGREEE!!11!"

Gibraltar is in a better financial shape than the FUK. They could live free and prosper like Monaco, but it badly needs Spain. I don't think there are many poor people in Gibraltar, but many are crossing the border everyday for their shopping.
1090  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Erdogan calls for swift removal of Trump name from Istanbul Towers on: June 26, 2016, 10:53:05 PM
I hope that Trump, if he becomes president, would reply with huge tariffs for every turkish good entering the US. Turkey should also be kicked out of NATO as it doesn't share the values of the other NATO members.
1091  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Local Sheriff Blocks Feds From Raiding Peaceful Farmer on: June 26, 2016, 10:49:58 PM
Thanks for sharing some good news. It's nice to know that large corporations like Monsanto do not rule the entire world.
Small organic farmers are having a hard time, they need as much support as they can get.
1092  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who will trigger article 50 to offically start brexit? on: June 26, 2016, 10:47:22 PM
The world is about to see if BoJo has balls. Or not. If he's the next prime minister, as this is likely, he will have to pull that trigger. The FUK will leave the EU, Scotland will be independent and Ireland will reunite. He'll be in every history books for a while, up to that day when nobody will remember what was England.
1093  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boris Johnson must give up his US citizenship now on: June 26, 2016, 10:38:05 PM
I never knew this.. Do you have some examples of where Boris Johnson has said he has dual nationality? I can believe it, but evidence always helps.

And to the guy above who said you "can't just give up your US citizenship". Yes you can, just get dual nationality and then you can renounce your US citizenship. I hate how America is one of the only countries who taxes it's citizens no matter where they live - so they end up getting taxed twice.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/11361816/Boris-Johnson-to-pay-six-figure-American-tax-bill.html

I've read about BoJo saying he will renounce its US citizenship, but I have yet to read that he effectively did. I guess he should start that process now, because it's taking several months.
1094  Economy / Speculation / Re: whether bitcoin will continue to grow on: June 26, 2016, 11:42:23 AM
NO. BTC will stop growing soon unless the block size problem is fixed. Right now, we are at 90/95% capacity. So the price of BTC may go higher, there's no limit, but the number of daily transactions cannot grow more than 5/10%. Sorry, but the block size is a limiting factor.
1095  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Spain calls for co-sovereignty on Gibraltar on: June 26, 2016, 11:35:01 AM
Are british people democrats?
A 96% majority in Gibraltar to remain in the EU isn't something which can be ignored. I can't think of a similar majority in any other election or referendum. Spain wants to make it like Andorra, but I guess Gibraltar should become independent.
1096  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The destruction of the UK has started on: June 26, 2016, 11:28:14 AM
Scotland the brave why do you wish to be dictated to by the EU if they still remain part of the UK but independently join the EU?

Because the Scots believe EU will be nicer than the UK! The EU has never killed any Scot so far.

I agree with you that is very good possibility that Scotland and N. Ireland will leave UK and join EU again.
I can't agree that we don't need countries any more.
If no countries, it means no governments, no laws, no order etc.
What will be results of it?
Anarchy and self destruction.

I didn't say we shouldn't have any police forces. There will always be the need for a sheriff to prevent people from killing each other. When I say no country, I mean no flag and no allegiance to something fictitious and most often built from war.

I think the UK should be renamed because it's no longer United. Northern Ireland and Scotland have clearly voted in favor of staying in the EU. I propose that the country, for a while, to be renamed as the Formerly United Kingdom. That sounds nice too.
1097  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boris Johnson must give up his US citizenship now on: June 26, 2016, 11:02:46 AM
I know this is scary. Boris is a clown. He looks like one, too. But I guess people just like clowns. Political debates could be replaced by farting contests, most people would vote for the loudest guy.

Don't think that's it. Sure lots of problems with democracy. But I think this is people tired of the establishment. Many are tired of seeing their lives get worse and not having hope for the future. So they vote for politicians who look like they could bring change. We can see this in many places not only the uk. America with trump and sanders. Greece with syriza. Podemos in spain. Austria. Etc.

Change? BoJo is a conservative, and he's been in british politics for too long for anyone to think that he will bring major changes to the UK, except leaving the EU, but that is a return to the past.

This is a total non issue.

The only qualification you need to be prime minister is to be an mp. to be an mp you don't even need to be a british citizen. You can be an Irish or commonwealth citizen.

Some old lady who arrived from Lesotho six months ago could be prime minister if people wanted it. On top of that the queen could appoint anyone on the whole planet if she feels like it.

The queen can only appoint someone designated from the winning political party. She doesn't choose anything nor anyone, but I'm sure she wouldn't like it if the person she's asked to appoint carry a foreign passport in his pocket.
1098  Other / Politics & Society / The destruction of the UK has started on: June 25, 2016, 06:42:00 PM
Scotland has clearly announced it wants to remain in the EU. Ireland and Gibraltar have been less vocal, but they're not far behind. There's a huge opportunity for Ireland to reunite, it will be seized. Ditto for Gibraltar in Spain.

The UK has always been a BS country anyway. It was built on treason, the prince of Wales doesn't deserve his title, and blood. Nazi Germany has killed millions of Jews, Britain has killed millions of Scottish and Irish men and women. I drink to Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, they'll enter history books as the men who have destroyed the UK. They are heroes just like Gorbatchev who allowed the USSR, another BS country, to self-destruct.

We don't need countries. The smaller they are, the less power they have, the better for the people!
1099  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fuel prices are down since Brexit on: June 25, 2016, 06:24:59 PM
This isn't related to the brexit. The £/$ exchange rate, which has changed because of the brexit, will reverse that in a few days. There's always a delay...
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average block size was 0.951 MB on: June 25, 2016, 06:20:22 PM
We can probably argue forever about the block size, but let's not forget the fact: blocks are 95% full. That means BTC's usage cannot grow more than 5% from what it is now. Unless the block size is increased.
