1481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 10, 2019, 08:37:04 PM

er...maybe it is just me..but re-read the above link you just posted. The article above seems to say the opposite of what you are thinking

quote from above

What this could mean is that forks of these two blockchains, including Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, etc.
can also manage to doge the tag of ‘securities’ rather than currencies.

unquote

see forks of these two blockchains....litecoin....can also dodge the tag of securities

So this says to me that likely Litecoin and forks of bitcoin will likely NOT be seen as securities

you may want  to correct your previous post

Do you have a better image or link to the above picture? I assume it is some kinda box that is combo meter and shut off valve?

That would be kinda handy to have, in that I have fewer basement miner units, I may put up, (for giggles) and if so running them thru this box may be prudent...

as not to be mining at 'too much' of a loss (before I can use such to heat this winter) for the dreaded 'summer rates' don't ya know.

Besides, it would look kinda cool next to the basement panel. Smiley

1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 10, 2019, 06:06:32 PM
I find current Litecoin price unsustainable and have to urge caution when buying at this level. The only reason that made price pump 500% is the halving which is two months away and all these people shilling like madmen.
If you don't want to cut your losses sell while still on profit. I don't know who exactly will buy this coin or why it exists besides speculation. I don't see comments covering anything else besides price so I guess it has no other use. Even when at 20$ Litecoin had little appeal. Just move into Bitcoin and spent your time on the real deal.

Then again, IMHO, it may be 'undervalued' compared to BCH and BSV, again IMHO. Litecoin may be undervalued and making a play to get in that sandbox of pricing.

Traditionally, (way in the past at least) Litecoin, used to, be a way to tell the actions of bitcoin. Many times LTC would pump just before bitcoin or dump just before bitcoin.

So you could be right, this could all be FOMO on Litecoin. But I suspect if you are correct and it is all FOMO, it will affect Bitcoin next, and if so, likely this FOMO pump you

are seeing is not done yet.

Me, I'm in full HODL mode on BTC, LTC, LISK, Siacoin, and (embarrassing because I have a lot) Fujicoin (don't ask).

Without mining options (for now) that make any sense for Litecoin, just keeping the 'remains' of my mining hoard above in full HODL mode.

hey, stuff to do.

Xubuntu is pretty light also - it's just ubuntu with xfce4 instead of that other bloated trash Smiley

Well...Lunbuntu does not work, I guess that is the next step to use Xunbuntu. Good to have options.

I could use a 'real' laptop, but not unless I have to. As to the Pi option, that may be beyond my skill set.

I am from the KNC Titan ASIC 'plug and play' days. As soon as you say cgminer and start tossing around

cgminer instructions, I get very nervous. I'm so lame I sold my old gekko USB sticks because I could never figure out how to get them up (this was with help).

Indeed I am that clueless. The GekkoMiner r606 has been sitting here a couple of weeks

I suppose I SHOULD finally toss it up or make a valiant attempt.

But then again, being clueless does have it's downsides.

This will be a 'crowning achievement' if I pull it off.

edit: (Then we can move on to the Bitcoin Hub that I did get up a year or so ago, and it is now down, the Bitmain USB hub for LTC, which 'seems' to be still working. But not the Bitmain USB hub for LTC, that I can't seem to get to work in any manner. So it goes, my goals are high, my skills are few. Sad

Hey congrats on joining the Livecoin family my man!

What is this?

Dont know if he's seen it yet, but he just got accepted to the Livecoin signature campaign, which is probably the 3rd most lucrative sig campaign out there. Livecoin is an exchange btw.

If Paul Le Roux is really Satoshi, then Satoshi's wallet is in the hands of the CIA, and they probably already have the password, which could be obtained through torture.

Only 2 signature campaigns left of any note, IMHO. Livecoin and ChipMixer. There are no openings ever on Chipmixer, unless you have massive stats, like 93+ trust, etc. I was kinda

told. (Joking I hope). All the other campaigns now seem to be based on Gambling, and even I won't shill to gamble in the gambling threads, I think maybe some of those people don't

need encouragement. Just saying. Doubt ANY of the gambling threads are legal in the USA anyway. Most, I've looked at (to find out on their page about the signature campaign)

Some? Most? I hear block out USA IP's. (Is that really possible?) Anyway, not interested anyway in such campaigns. So anyway, we will see how it goes. Maybe all signature campaigns

will eventually 'fade' away and only the gambling versions will remain. Seems the trend.

@Searing

Hey congrats on joining the Livecoin family my man! Looks like my little tip for you might have paid off, quite literally.

I'm trying to diversify my posting a bit and heading into less-traveled areas, but it's rough. There's a near infinite amount of shit to wade through out there, before finding something worth commenting on.

Edit: Had to hang up my WO Hat. That hurt.

Seems I can be 'bought'. A little dancing, some wine and flowers, romance and looks like I'm an easy lay. Sad

Tell me about it. Going thru ASIC withdrawal...got a 'dubious' Bitmain S9i for home mining (with a funky jet engine looking silencer off eBay) and a guy sent me an Avalon 821 for $35

with a tip from Canada...for the heck of it. (I think I must have helped him sometime in the past) Smiley Sh*t to play within the basement for no particular reason or common sense.

Thus, was a lot more stuff to talk about when I had HARDWARE (ack! withdrawal) back in the day.

Then again, this sure beats the low of $3,200 BTC within the last year! (I was despondent) Sad

The Price Of BitCoin Is Hard To Predicate!!!

The next 24 hours are Critical!

meh.....old guy ranting in forums...buy some...the price will spike up immediately...see the problem solved...

1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: June 09, 2019, 03:14:55 PM
Is there rely hope holding this coin, Lisk to me seems to be lagging behind and most of these new projects have crowded the market and steal the marketshare from it, if things continue this way, I will need to call it a day with this project and dump my tokens, nothing so far so cheer about this project
but as to 'buying' and HODL'ing LISK as such now...er....not so attractive...IMHO.

the same people said 2016. it went from 20 cents to 38 dollar. not it is 2 dollar and can go easily to 40 again with next big crypto pump. you just have to look how many shitcoins were pumped december 2017. same can lisk do.

Lisk, however, said it would be at this point of 'development' 1.5 years ago at the latest. Thus the price you mentioned reflected that dream. The only way that LISK

can soar is IF they get their act together and get to that position again in 'real use' and 'tools'. We will see, but I don't see a lot of 'pressure' on them. The devs

already made their millions via the ICO, I really doubt they did not xfer some of that wealth to BTC, etc. The old story of: No pressure, No progress. Seems to apply here.

My view is not on the 'potential' but the practicalities of LISK at this time and in the future. IF Lisk goes 'tulips'. The only effect will be on the HODL'ers and not

anyone associated with LISK. (Or at least NOT in a big way IMHO, if they diversified). It would take away the forging income for the 101 folks, but hey, the same rule

they likely diversified some. Anyway, what I 'fear'. I hope I am incorrect in that ICO or not, HODL (now I am) or not. I have a significant amount of LISK from the ICO.

I would like them to succeed, but compared to other crypto projects that have 'made it' and such is reflected in their crypto price...I'm just not seeing it. Wink

Litecoin has best team behind it and now it getting more attention this is the key of the big success when community start growing racpidly and support from big merchants keep increasing. I believe one day it will be more strong than before.

The problem now, IMHO, is that what 'newbies' consider 'Silver to Bitcoin's Gold' is not Litecoin anymore but the Bitcoin Forks: Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and  BitcoinSV (BSV).

Now it seems most 'newbies' I talk to are 'buying' into this idea. Very few have heard about Litecoin. I guess the more noise you make and sh*t you throw like Craig Wright

is doing, the better the scam coins of BCH and BSV are doing. The best thing to happen to Litecoin (and Bitcoin) would be for Craig Wright to be proven the fraud that I think

he is if that happened...Bitcoin SV and indeed Bitcoin Cash would again become irrelevant and Litecoin would go back to its 'rightful' place, IMHO, of leading all the altcoins

in price. This is unlikely as hell, but hey a guy can dream. Smiley

Hopefully, the Litecoin Halving and the new mimblewimble (privacy transactions) will make some noise and news and let Litecoin soar again. We will be the first to know.

Chump or Champ.

1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HashAltcoin Blackminer F1--best FPGA miner,in stock,support hosting & shipping on: June 09, 2019, 02:57:02 PM
This fpga miner looks awesome. But i couldn't understand what the algo 7 is:) It is shown as most profitable one on their site but there is no info.
Algo 7 = Secret algo, only if you purchase this miner you have the info about this.

Does this go for their mini-units also? Or just the bigger units?

Thinking of getting a smaller unit (Under $200 range) for a toy to play with different algos on such.

Also to get a variety of wallets on the various cryptos (paper) as a project to get motivated to maybe speculate some on the coins. (Such $$$ will come from attic sales

of junk I don't need ----> to eBay -----> to such 'exotic' cryptos for home mining fun. Smiley

Also, what do they charge for customs? The latest trick I've seen is by SiliconFusion miners (x11 and scrypt)

$90 as default to get around USA customs and tariffs. Or at least minimize the damage of such. Would be nice if the

Blackminer folk started to do the same trick.

Anyway, thanks in advance for the info

1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC Miner Hardware Still Available Any Flavor Crypto List May 2019 Onward! on: June 09, 2019, 02:38:02 AM
Was looking around www.eastshore.xyz (a legit site). The units below are OUT OF STOCK for now. But I was bored and looking around.

Looks like the fusionminer brand only charges $90. Not eastshore. Dang it. But hey, it is something to break the blockade.

They don't have anything that you could call worth getting, IMHO, rather than just HODL'ing your crypto coin of whatever 'flavor' you wish...but I was bored.

But found out on the link below (and others) that they are ONLY stating the units (whatever ones no matter how expensive from what I gather) are for customs.

https://www.eastshore.xyz/shop/fusionsilicon-x7-262gh-dash-miner/

https://www.eastshore.xyz/shop/fusionsilicon-x6-860mh-litecoin-miner/

https://www.eastshore.xyz/shop/fusionsilicon-x1-12-96gh-lyra2rev2-miner/

They are ONLY priced at $90. This is 'evil genius' at its best. Unless the customs folk are on the ball on ASIC equipment prices, they can charge a bit more than www.bitmain.com

for their own overhead/profit/etc. (Hey, they have stuff in stock that others no longer have...extra $$$ for their risk I guess)

Anyway, so if you take into account the cost on the Bitmain site for stuff (and probably others) and what they would charge for tariff/import fees and shipping..this may

be a better deal on ASIC's. I think they 'used to' *unsure* offer a 1-year warranty ..but that was a few years back, so maybe doubtful now.

Anyway, I still think it makes little sense. But perhaps others will follow this logic and 'slip' some stuff thru in this manner. Likely, it won't work, but hey...at least someone

is trying to run the blockade of the 25% tariff and 2.6% import tax to the USA. That is 27.6% markup without even figuring the shipping.

Again, it is something I guess. Still 'out of stock' like most things, but at least a bit of pushback.

I am simply going to get mine up on a laptop.

Anyone here using Lunbuntu? (Light Unbuntu) I assume that will work fine?

I have a mess of old Compaq Evo N800v 'evil' 1gb ram laptops. Older than dirt. Completely unsuitable for anything above Win XP, nor are they suitable it seems for regular Unbutu 14.01 or above.  They were used to monitor the KNC Scrypt Miners in my Basement (free heat) over the years. Thus, will try those bricks first. I assume...being near the 'evil' KNC Titans in my basement (which the 'evil' KNC Titans would try to brick themselves on any 'eye contact' or 'sense of fear' on your part in daring to go into the basement...or whatever...yeah..they were that evil).

I figured I'd better ask if Lunbuntu is even possible to run this stuff before I fire them up and try. Truthfully, Lunbuntu is the ONLY version I've found that worked. Indeed, this could be all moot with the newest version of Lunbuntu.

Thanks

We are once more full. I'm sorry to all the applicants that I can't accept.

Thanks. It is hard losing the hat, but then again...it seems to be 'lingering'. (cache).

Thanks to those who pm'd me to sign up for the LiveCoin campaign. (I'd kinda given up.)

1494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: June 08, 2019, 04:10:14 PM
Bought some SIA 22 months ago near the high for the long term HODL
Lost 60% in USD value and 95(!!!)% in BTC value since then.  Roll Eyes  Cry
Since it has not made a good pump like many other coins I am now willing to sell.

1.) Volume on exchanges is very low
2.) I still can not store the SIA in my Ledger oder Xaurum wallet => Exchange storage is dangerous
3.) Coin progress is slow (not a SCAM I think but slow)
4.) Other projects could outrun SIA

I think I will sell half of my position for EOS und HODL the other half on the exchange. Maybe the smaller coins like SIA will have also a pump soon!?
Learned  my lesson: Don´t HODL this little coins, only trade them for short term.

If you are a long term holder why sell now if Sia is sitting on the btc pair support level? Bitcoin and all these coins have market cycles. I cannot guarantee it but most probably Sia will pump again to it's ATH in the next bullrun and so are most of the other coins that are active and trading.
Investors must be prepared to lose, I agree that making SIA Coin for the long term is a good solution for profit, I also buy when the price is $ 0.007 cents and now the price is less $ 0.003, waiting for profit is certainly the right solution rather than cut loss.

If you believe in Siacoin then what you guys must do is dollar cost average your position just like any other coin such as Bitcoin. So if you bought let's say $1000 at $0.007, you buy another $1000 at $0.003 then when eventually goes up again to $0.007 you sell your position or keep a moonbag for more profit. I am not giving financial advice. Just telling what I do if I am losing money on a coin that I believe it will go to the previous ATH.

Compared to my other HODL coins, don't have enough in comparison to those HODL'ings for doing your 'good advice' above for it to really matter. Also not getting the wallet to work,
ever, is the other problem (win 10). Gave up after 5 tries on 2 laptops (one 2011 and one Alienware 2018). Thus stumped.

Thus a 'buddy' is holding my siacoin for me....eventually, I'll get motivated and just have him 'liquidate' to a more promising coin. But hope 'springs eternal' don't ya know Smiley

Indeed being the group of 'oldsters' that are 'forging' LISK, not seeing much in the way of being in HODL mode on this coin. IF, you are like me and got MOST of your coin, via

the ICO, well then it may make some sense to HODL LISK, but as to 'buying' and HODL'ing LISK as such now...er....not so attractive...IMHO.

1498  Economy / Economics / Re: Why all people moan about the price of bitcoin? on: June 07, 2019, 11:45:08 PM
Well in my view it is the 'instant' if suspect news we get each day. Too fast and furious.

Facebook/Radio/TV news/online news/etc etc. 24/7

But another reason the moaning is so loud is that the reason the doom and gloom is passed around as such

man, can you make money in the news business on bitcoin and stories....it is the perfect story...1/2 the people will read

any article you write on BTC on the headline it is going bust/tulips...the other half of the population will read the article

you write on BTC with the headline it is going to the moon.

Thus NO WRONG WAY TO WRITE OR POST OR WHATEVER ON TV ETC/PAPER/FACEBOOK on Bitcoin/Crypto.

It is a story that never ends, thus you can keep coming back to the well for eyeballs to your Advertisements and all that $$$

See this example below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/bwnzos/wsj_business_section_some_bet_bitcoin_price_could/

The way the 'news' works these days. Online/Paper/Magazine etc. Is if they have an article like that this week. They can get all the 'positive'
individuals/types on crypto to read and/or eyeball their site Ads for more $$$. Eyeballs for Article for the 'Crypto Fan Base'. (all them Ad $$$)

I will bet that within the next month there will be a NEW article in the same area of that paper, that will claim that Facebook Coin will kill
Bitcoin and/or Altcoins dead. To get the eyeballs of the skeptics of cryptocurrency in Online/Paper/Magazines. Thus the 'negative' types
will eyeball such see their Ads for the rest of the $$$. Eyeballs for Articles for the 'Fools Theory' on Crypto Fan Base that Crypto is all 'Tulips' and a scam.

It is the 'perfect' way to get readership. Boom or Doom. Rinse/Wash/Repeat. You get 'everybody' with an opinion from the wildly optimistic on crypto/BTC/Alts
to the 'widely' pessimistic on crypto/BTC/Alts. With all the various shades in the spectrum from one end to the other.

Again, Rinse/Wash/Repeat. Expect it.

Them's the breaks. Never gonna go away. All them $$$ from either side of the doom/moon camp on Bitcoin/Crypto. Just the way it is now I'm afraid.

Because is is more of a beta product now, with many key features coming out in future updates. Still Goobox and Filebase are making great progress as go between providers.

Amazing news for Sia. New network milestone on the @SiaTechHQ network: 300TB of data stored, a historical record. Over the last 40 days the usage grew a 50%

https://twitter.com/SiaStats/status/1133213228954193920

and I 'still' can't build such storage with "used' equipment and make even 1/4 of my investment back.

hardly encouraging from the point of view of their vision.

just saying....see a lot of Sia-tech ASIC equip sales and a lot of pumping up the difficulty and siacoin..the lagging part is the storage solution which seems dubious yet IMHO.

The catch is...where they are NOW is where they promised to be 1.5 years ago...just saying. Sad
