Union Berlin are really fighting for their safety in the standings these days. After losing to Bochum really badly they managed to react against Koln and make up for that loss. There is still a gap of 3 points between them and the relegation zone though but they have a missing game to play as well. Hopefully we can see them reaching safety as soon as possible.

Because it isn't nice to see a team in this situation despite being far better in the previous season. They qualified for the Champions League I mean but now they are battling for not relegating from the Bundesliga.    Now they aren't a part of any other European tournament so they can fully focus on the Bundesliga.

Darmstadt is delivering an intense fight against the relegation zone. I thought they would be far behind, but many of their games have been close and they have also had some good results against far superior opponents. That is why I think this is still not over for them by any means. If they can get their draws here and there and then maybe win some of the games against the teams in front of them, perhaps they are able to avoid relegation or at least secure the play-off position.

It is difficult for Darmstadt to get out of the relegation zone because they qualify for the Bundesliga without having players of comparable quality to compete with other teams. Even Koln and Mainz, who have experience in the previous season, also find it quite difficult to get out of the relegation zone because currently they have only been able to collect 10 points from the 16 matches that have taken place. There are still a lot of left in the match and maybe there is still hope for the three clubs in the relegation zone to find points.

If I'm not mistaken Darmstadt have only won twice in the Bundesliga competition this season, which means they have lost a lot of points, leaving them at the bottom of the standings with 10 points. Union Berlin is also not necessarily safe because it is only three points away from a club in the relegation zone.

No doubt that you are probably right here. I only wanted to remark that when you just look at the table without checking some of the results, you would think that Darmstadt's chances are dead, but that isn't yet the case as they have played some games where it almost felt sad for them that they lost the game. The last time I had a look it was the draw against Hoffenheim that got me thinking maybe a miracle can be possible. I think the same about Luton Town in the Premier League. Now they won at home against Newcastle and three weeks before they had a lead against Arsenal, conceded a goal, which made it 3-3 and then they conceded another goal in the 97th minute. But Luton Town is still alive and I think Darmstadt is similar.

Next up for Leverkusen is Augsburg which I don't think is a particularly difficult game for them, I'm pretty sure of that.

Over the years, every season, we've seen certain teams leading the top chart of the Bundesliga and there's been some levels of consistency especially for Munich who's most of the time finished at the first position. Before now, Leverkusen and Stuttgart weren't even seen near the top four, it was always a Munich, Dortmund show but there's been much of a difference this season. Now there's a kinda rub shoulders between these teams, Leverkusen and Stuttgart who's been on the sidelines for seasons have now come up to be competitive for the trophy.

I look more towards Leverkusen which has the potential to win the Bundesliga title this season even though we all know that Stuttgart is also trying to catch first place but for me that will never be achieved because in terms of consistency it is still very far from Leverkusen and Bayern munich but only currently Stuttgart can still be said to be a challenger for the two top clubs and currently the Bundesliga is becoming more tense because worry always creeps into our minds, fear that Leverkusen will only be able to end up like Dortmund last season when they were very strong but at the end of the season lost first place and again dominated by Bayern Munich.
Xabi is still the best at the moment, almost breaking the strategy that Tuchel always uses and this time the bayern Munich coach is a little overwhelmed to be able to compete with Leverkusen who truly cannot be beaten.

I think it's too late now to find a rhythm for teams like Stuttgart, Dortmund or Leipzig. Because even if you find the rhythm, you will have to depend on Bayern Munich and Leverkusen to drop points to get that championship which they don’t seem to be doing. So far in the 16 matches, both Leverkusen and Bayern Munich have dropped points in 3 matches only which is pretty consistent. Leverkusen actually made a record breaking undefeated run in Bundesliga and they are continuing it. So I would agree with @MinorMiner

I think the championship fight will be between Bayern Munich and Leverkusen only. And I think the deciding match will be between them in February. Stuttgart, Leipzig, and Dortmund have big gaps between them and the top team. Although half of the season is remaining, I don't see them winning it. These 3 teams will be fighting between themselves for the top 4 spots to confirm the Uefa Champions League spot for next season.

This season the competition is much different from before, Laverkusen improved performance and their consistency in leading the Bundesliga standings have so far made them the favorite team. But that doesn't necessarily negate Bayern Munchen status as rulers, and we know that its dominance is not easily broken for many reasons, one of which is the depth of the squad which is better than any other team. The competition for the top four in the standings involving several teams at once is very interesting, but I think the existence of Dortmund, Stuttgart and Leipzig only disrupts the hunt for trophies and the consistency of Laverkusen and Bayern Munchen.

Xabi Alonso does not have as good squad depth as Tuchel, but his strategy in bringing out the best potential in players is worth admitting. In terms of the rotation options that Xabi has, it is a bit worrying that if they are hit by an injury storm, it could make Laverkusen lose his balance. Leverkusen is of course playing well. And I don't know if I can say that they are actually playing better than Bayern Munich or not. But I believe that even if I say that they are playing better than Bayern Munich, it won't be true. Because they have to think about the Champions League as well. Leverkusen also has to think about other competitions but those are of course not as hard or competitive as the Champions League. A lot of people will agree that Bayern Munich still has a good chance of winning the title. After all, they have been doing it for the last 11 years.

Xabi Alonso has to be praised. He has made the team perform well even when he doesn't have the best of players for service. But that's what coaches are supposed to do, unlike a certain someone like Ten Hag

I don't know if this was talked about before, it's sort of about football but also not Kane has moved out of the hotel that he was staying all this time since he joined Bayern, it's believed that he spent a bit more than a million euros for staying there. I mean no matter how rich you are, that is definitely a terrible financial decision.

Apparently he was staying at a high level room (king suite? no idea what's the name, best room in that hotel) for the past three or so months since he joined, and the totals came to a million euros. He finally left which I think is a smart and good move, he should be leaving anyway, it's a terrible decision, he could have rented a fully decked out villa for that money, it wasn't a smart decision.

However, it will be exciting to see what things look like after the winter break. Some of Bayer's top players will travel to the Africa Cup of Nations and then it will become clear whether the second line of players can maintain the current level or not.

The Africa Cup of Nations will definitely have an impact for the first match days. If all of the players will be nominated, Bayer Leverkusen would have to play without a maximum of five players. And Bayern Munich would have to play without a maximum of 3 players. Both teams would play 6 times during this time. Leverkusen 5x in the Bundesliga and 1x in the DFB Cup. Bayern Munich 6x in the Bundesliga. Whereby 1 of these matches is the catch-up match against Union Berlin.
