Western Union still caters to a lot of people and I still see a lot of people queueing in their centers. They are also upgrading because it is not only money remittance service that they accept, but also bills payment and other services. I even saw a Western Union that sells lottery tickets and has a reloading center. This might change in the future as people are becoming more aware of all the other ways in which they can do their transactions. Online is the better and more convenient way and digital currencies are going to make everything much easier.
Digital curency also allow you to do more than western union. It doesn't just used for making payments or money transferring, it's also a bank. Although western union is quite easier in terms time you need to spend since it's fiat money to fiat money, if you would just storr it to your bank, better to use bitcoin. Hence, you don't need to go on exchanger's branch and at the bank for you to deposit your savings. It depends on the poeple on how they will use the money to choose which of two would fit for them, in the other hand both of them have a good service.

Technically Bitcoin is better than Western Union in general, but in terms of branches and availability it is defeated by Western Union everytime I see or go to the province or in the less urban areas I always see a Western Union center available for you. While in Bitcoin sending money is free but you have to wait for it to be receive and another one to be converted to Fiat not to mention you will look for people or banks who accept the conversion of Bitcoin to Fiat.

Western union used to be a useful service but with debit cards, bank transferences and now bitcoin then western union has less and less market share I think western union will eventually disappear just like Kodak and other companies that could not adapt to changing circumstances.

On the past news, I've heard bitcoin is already overcome western union. The demand of WU already less. because really not worth for using WU in this time. If we can using bitcoin and sending our money around the world just with sitting in our chair.
Yeah bitcoin have already overtaken the Western Union in terms of its growth and increasing acceptance. Now for the purpose of investment more people have started to give preference to bitcoin. The same is not possible with Western Union or other related service providers. This makes people consider bitcoin much more than other financial services.

There are lots of differences why bitcoin can surpass western union in the near future. Though western union designed as regulated industry while bitcoin is unregulated in most countries., this is based on coindesk way back 2014 http://www.coindesk.com/western-union-open-bitcoin-regulated-currency/. But at the present time now Bitcoin will still be remain as decentralization which I think for me its impossible that Bitcoin will become regulated as what western union want it to be happen. So for me I will still go for Bitcoin because of its unique features that it can give to anyone here in this industry. And those features is enough to consider bitcoin is better than western union.

Western Union at best is a major ripoff.

Used them a couple of times as there was no other way to send funds quickly but since getting involved with bitcoin I've never been back to WU and doubt I ever will.
Because in bitcoin you can send money any amount that you want while others international payment networks like western Union. The Western Union have the minimum money transfer and also have high additional fees or charge. In Bitcoin no need identification to verify your money just wallet address to send money while other money remittances need your valid identification ID. Bitcoin was very accommodating nowadays.

Yes they do have minimum transfer and you need to have more than 1 valid ID if you will receive a big sum of money, which is very inconvenient especially when you only have one identification card to show, it is also irritating when suddenly their system become down or incurred offline, your time would just wasted unlike in bitcoin what you have to do is to wait for a few minutes for the transaction to success. You don't need to travel far just to get money.

Have you heard about the latest issue on Western Union that they are being sued and charged to pay 15 million US dollars. The reason was they accepted and transmit black market money and they have become the bridge for illegal transactions. Their reputation is now tainted and some of their customers were leaving them due to their credibility and with bitcoins acceptance more users are again leaving WU and sooner or later WU will closed all their branches all over the world.

With the huge spam attack over bitcoin network, forcing us to raise fees, is making insane to make any transaction using bitcoin, since regular transaction fees are taking a lot time to be confirmed, and with this bitcoin is loosing its huge advantage of low fees and fast transactions, but well it keeps being better then Western but delay and higger fees arent good for bitcoin.

Exactly does, it has been doing even better than most of the other payment processors that hitherto was ahead of Bitcoin when the OP first posted. Bitcoin has gained more grounds since a year ago and it's evidently clear that western union and their lots are no match for Bitcoin.

I have not read that but if true I will not be surprised at all, wester union service is completely overrated and very expensive, when we know they are not really sending money to the other side of the world or anything they just create a record on their database that someone send money to you and then allow you to withdraw that money.

There's no doubt Bitcoin is currently superior to western union and the other processors because of the anonymity it posses and the lie transactions fees that it presents no matter the location and size of the transaction.

Of course none wants to pay high transaction fees when uses the bitcoin network. Nowadays, with the surge in bitcoin price there is also a surge in fees where many times last days I have seen is about 200-220sat/bytes. That means about 50000 satoshis for a median transaction, so about 0.63 dollars in today's btc/usd conversion rate. Using western union I am pretty sure there is not a so cheap and quick transaction. In my country because I live in Europe from one place to another, into the same country, the fees are 4 Euros + 2.5%(of the amount).

Even bitcoin transactions fees would rise still its much better compared to western union the amount of fee isnt too high but the main problem would be the confirmation times because if theres a lot of transactions then expect pay for a higher fee to be fast confirmed but still we cant be sure because if the network does have traffic your transaction would be still on delay.

I think that this problem will be fixed soon,I dont know much about that transactons but I think that when there are more mining factories then it is faster to get transaction verified or maybe I said wrong I really dont know.

Wrong, the more mining factories will give nothing and they just give decentralized nodes and it makes the bitcoin network is secure. The large of the block size of bitcoin can increase the transaction for every block. With large of the block size and we can send more transaction.
