I don’t know what Dwayne Wade ever did to Paul Pierce but he’s occupying some series space in his head. I’ve heard Paul Pierce make this argument before and was promptly embarrassed live on television by Jalen Rose when he compared their two careers. Paul Pierce was good, ya. He was never best in the league good though and besides his petty terrible takes on himself, he’ll be known for shitting his pants and being rolled off in a wheelchair during a game.

Maybe Pierce still holds some grudge against Wade because the Heat put together an all-star team in the 10/11 season and then poached Allen from the Celtics. Just remember how much Garnett resented because of that Allen's decision.
Anyway, I think Wade was much better during his prime, especially in his first championship season. Of course, Wade couldn't have done it without Shaq, but it's worth noting that Wade averaged 28.4 points per game in the 05/06 playoffs and became the Finals MVP, while Pierce averaged only 19.7 points during his first and last championship season (07/08), and he had teammates like Garnett, Allen and young Rondo.

Paul Pierce seems to be seeking attention again. While it's true that the Celtics won a championship during his time, and he was named Finals MVP, it wasn't solely because of him. The Celtics played exceptionally well as a team, with players like Rondo and Garnett making significant contributions. That was a long time ago, and I believe he should move on from constantly bringing it up.

Although many consider Pierce one of the greatest players, there are differing opinions, and some may argue that he isn't better than D Wade.

Moving forward, Tatum is also expected to have the same huge max contract in his final year with the team and not exercise his rights on his Player Option.
Well, that should be given. They cannot just let Tatum be left with a contract that is lower than the number 2. Cheesy
He also did so much for the team I think he will be the future of it if they want a higher possibility of a championship. Locker room issues will become the Celtics' management problem if they won't do the same favor for him.

Brown's agent made a great job in securing the deal. I wonder how the negotiations went on as Brown is not a top-10 player. Yet it somehow managed to just slightly edge Steph Curry as the highest paid in the NBA this coming season.

With that new deal, pretty sure Jason Tatum get his own version and it will be bigger than Brown unless he is willing to sacrifice millions of dollars in order for the team to save money. And there are also the other superstars that will demand higher pay once they are qualified for new deals.

I would also bet on the Warriors next season. With CP3 on their roster, it will not be hard for them to score, as he is one of the best passers in the NBA. CP3, along with Curry and Thompson, will likely create plenty of open opportunities for scoring, and Curry won't tire easily since he won't have to carry the ball all the time.

I'm not sure if they will play him as a starter, but if they do, that's my perspective.

I like that factor in how CP3 will help the Warriors, the Splash bro shooting capabilities can be maximized.

Knowing how good CP3 is in terms of finding the open man the best fit for the position
and adding to that, he is also a big threat when the opponent focus with him only passing
the ball as he can also shoot and have that good percentage making the basket. Looking
forward to the Warriors run in this upcoming season

I don’t know. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I think Chris Paul will see the lowest usage rate of his career and at his age being inactive isn’t the best thing. While I think he will be big for them in the regular season and give the team a chance to win without Curry on the floor, I don’t think he’ll be able to hold up in the playoffs at his age. He isn’t LeBron.

Given that he isn’t the most talented player in the league, I suspect the next couple of years are going to have some contracts that will begin to rival global soccer stars.
I doubt that but maybe it will happen if oil money enters the NBA. French football star Kylian Mbappe has been recently offered by a Saudi team with an annual salary of $221M and that could rise to $774M according to reports so compare that to the $304M 5-year deal. I read that even Lebron and Draymond jokes about moving to Saudi after that news.

I don't expect salaries of top paid footballers in Europe to stagnate given the sponsors their league and team gets. It will only go higher in the next couple of years.

Yes mate, it's not really possible because NBA is not sponsored by any petrostate/country and which mean that NBA and its franchises will literally have a hard time if they are going to compete with how football league works, specially Saudi Professional League as they were the ones who can afford to give such contracts to any known football stars.

I'll give a rough comparison; Kylian Mbappe was offered by Al-Hilal with a 1-year deal worth a staggering $776 Million while our very own LeBron James just earned a total of $531 Million in his whole basketball career.

Yeah, I think it's inevitable, he is not getting any younger and he doesn't have the athletic body of a Lebron to stay healthy. So he might be used sparingly by Kerr, but maybe him and Curry will be on the same floor at times.

Curry used to bring the ball, but this time if they both played then the majority of the ball handling will be on Chris Paul now. But I don't see it as a bad sign for the Warriors. On the other hand, it might help Curry and Klay more because if Paul will be the point guard then it will somewhat help specially Steph to preserve his energy and have more on the gas tank entering 4th quarter.

I know it's hard to digest that but unfortunately for the fans, Chris Paul is not the same CP3 anymore that is known as the point god. He can be of any help for the Warriors, yes, but there is a fine limit on what he can just do these days. He will be good in the regular season, I'll give him that in advance but when the league will be tougher and more intense, I don't think he can live with the hype.

National basketball player Onuralp Bitim, who made a name for himself with his performances in Anadolu Efes and Pınar Karşıyaka, signed a contract with the Chicago Bulls. I hope he can stay in the NBA. We are proud to see another young Turkish player in the NBA.

The good statistics in Bursa and European cups in the last season obviously attracted the attention of the scouts. Onuralp participated in the draft in 2021 but wasn't selected. He became the living proof that the NBA can be made without being drafted. I hope he will be successful there.

I was surprised as well as why Jaylen Brown was eligible to sign that much contract if he didn't belong in the Top 10. I know that he's a good Celtic's player and undoubtedly blend well with Tatum but I just can't help but think that how he did he do that. And so I think that maybe the Celtics was just too afraid to see the time where he will ask for a trade since he already gave some signs last season.

Quote
With that new deal, pretty sure Jason Tatum get his own version and it will be bigger than Brown unless he is willing to sacrifice millions of dollars in order for the team to save money. And there are also the other superstars that will demand higher pay once they are qualified for new deals.

No doubt about that because if Brown managed to sign a deal like that, I won't be surprised if Tatum's camp will also ask the same thing or even much more than that as he is the alpha of the team.

The fact that Jaylen Brown got 300 million contract with 60 million a year as his biggest and the biggest in NBA history during the period when Mbappe was offered 200+ just for a single year showed the basketball players what kind of money happens in football world.

I mean we already have players like Ronaldo and Benzema making that, and it is estimated that Messi will probably make a ton of money when it's said and done as well, between ownership of the club (not all of it, just partnership) and adidas and apple deals, I bet that it is going to be a huge one there too. In any case, good for Jaylen Brown to get what he can, there is nothing wrong with players wanting more money, they deserve it and they should get it.

If he signs back with okc he will sign the super max whatever it is at that time.  It's not like baseball where you have an open ended salary with no cap basketball does.  Which means they can only make the max amount.  Shai will command the max which will creep up every year.  So will every other player who gets the superman at that time.  Dollar figures are getting crazy but I guess it's all reletive.

If I'm him, I'll take that offer. It's crazy to see that these contracts have been increasing over time and this is what an NBA player wants to have. It doesn't matter who are your teammates and if your team is a caliber to take the title.

But that's up to the management if they'll be giving some other players a chance to play with him and get an upgrade from their roster. So, aside from Jaylen, it's gonna be him that will get a max contract.

I am sure that these contracts not just given to NBA but also with the hype ones through Mbappe is giving everyone the inspiration to play at their best.

It's quite the luxurious place for athletes to be and Mbappe is the living proof of that, Ronaldo likely opens this opportunity. So we do hope a Saudi Arabian controlled basketball team? I know there are talks opening new teams in the NBA but is there possibility that these luxurious offers to players be made in basketball as well?

A pretty crazy consequence of our oil dependence on the Middle East if you ask me. We’ve been sending them money for so long, they’re just going to buy our society right out from under us. It’s been happening for quite some time already but it appears that we’re (the west) about to lose popular culture as artists and athletes flee the states for more money. I think 10 years from now pro sports will start looking a lot different.

~snip~
He became the living proof that the NBA can be made without being drafted. I hope he will be successful there.

It is an undeniable truth that the veracity of the matter resonates deeply. Notably, his performance has exhibited commendable qualities. Well, what am I saying, his performance has to be good to actually be brought in by the Chicago Bulls. I also hope that he will be able to become successful in the NBA.

A few people are actually saying that Chicago Bulls might have not made the right decision. But I think it actually was a good decision. If it is the right decision or not, we will be able to see in the future. He is only 24. So he has time on his side. And I also hope he will be able to improve.

I am not sure why there is this trend of retired great players having the comparison of their careers to the ones that have also retired. Like having a great player on their roster when they're in their prime. I am talking about Pierce talking about Wade he's saying he could do the same as Dwayne did and will probably have a better run because of having good teammates. I have no idea why there are beefs like this or it's just to make themselves relevant from the news we're having in the NBA.

Just take it with a grain of salt, bro.

Veterans will always have to say to each other regardless if those are towards their fellow retired players or active players. Wade and Pierce have lots of trash-talking during their active days and Heat and Celtics have formed a rivalry too during both players' prime seasons.

Anyhow, Pierce also clarified that he is not comparing himself to Dwayne Wade and the respect is always there.

“I never compared myself to Dwyane Wade, I was asked a question how would u answer if u were me I would never disrespect him he is an all-time great. All I’m saying is the narrative surrounding me would be different if I was lucky enough to play with all-timers earlier in my career.”
At least that's clear now that it was just the narrative that he's got if both of them are still around. Well, the game changes, and the plays are also evolving. But yes, I'll take it next time with a grain of salt because that just made me curious why they have to say such things and if they weren't asked for it, they won't say anything. They're both great players and there's no doubt about it and I like it when there's a respect despite there's a lot of trashtalks.

I read a news today but I'm not sure if it's true.
Oklahoma City Thunder player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will become the first NBA player in history to sign a $400 Million contract.

Source: CBS Sport

It's seems that NBA player is doing a catch up with football stars in terms of contract and salary. And we can't deny that SGA is really the franchise player for OKC now, we just hope that it's worth that money for the OKC management.

If only SGA is their big player, then it might be difficult for him to lift the team up. He needs help although they still have last year's rookie in Chet who hasn't seen any other yet because he got injured but he will be back this season.

SGA deserves to have a max contract as he had an MVP-worthy performance last season. He has improved remarkably fast, and his style of play involves his teammates, making them better. He is also clutch, so they can consider him their main star when negotiating the contract. I'm just hoping that OKC, as a team, will improve more next season. They already gained valuable experience last season, so perhaps they will perform like the Kings, who made it to the playoffs and posed a significant challenge to the defending champions, the Warriors.
