The Lakers giving Anthony Davis $186,000,000 with a three year extension seems a bit insane given how much time he has missed. He’d better start staying healthy for the amount of money they’re giving him. 62 million dollars when he only plays about 50 games in a good year seems like like overpaying. I sure hope that contract doesn’t come back to bite them.

In fairness to Anthony Davis, he's the only player I know that even an injury prone, he can unleash his monster performance right away after returning to play.

Referring to his last season performance, Davis was able to keep his average percentage after being sidelined for several games.

The most talked trade this summer is still on the advantage of the Miami Heat. That being said, the trade about Lillard is now composed of a 4-team trade because the Portland insists that they don't want Tyler Herro on their roster, they just wanted a 4-5 future round picks, specifically first rounders. Hence why 4 teams are now involved in it.

A New Damian Lillard 4-Team Trade Where Everybody Wins

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: James Harden's expiring contract (can be flipped later), Kyle Lowry's expiring contract, Jaime Jacquez, Nikola Jović, a 2028 first-round pick from Miami, a 2030 first-round pick from Miami and a 2030 second-round pick from Chicago

Miami Heat Receive: Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkić, a 2029 second-round pick from Philadelphia and a 2028 second-round pick from Chicago

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Zach LaVine, Tyler Herro and a 2029 second-round pick from Portland

Chicago Bulls Receive: Tobias Harris' expiring contract, Caleb Martin, Keon Johnson, a 2029 first-round pick swap with the 76ers and a 2030 first-round pick from Philadelphia

What do you guys think about this?
So the Blazers will be on the rebuilding phase after trading Lillard. With him being out, there's no all-star players left with the team, so they will build around Simons, Henderson, Sharpe, Grant, and possible with Jacquez if this trade pushes through. With this trade, I don't think that the Blazers will clinch the playoffs even though they got Harden. What Harden can give to the team is his playmaking abilities that will have an effect towards the young players.

As for the Heat, as long as they have Dame, they will be a championship contender, and will always a win for them. Having Nurkic is an additional for them because he's the starting center of the Blazers for quite some time. Draft picks are also an additional for them as well even though it's only a second round pick. The culture around the team is great, so they might develop these 2 or just use it as trade assets in the future.

As for the Sixers, it will benefit them because they'll have a rising star in Herro, and an all-star in Lavine as well. With Maxey, and Embiid, it might be a good team just by looking at the roster. The problem is who will benched between the 4 of them because Herro, and Maxey are more of a shooting guard than a Point guard just by looking on how they're playing. I might be wrong though especially if one of them will adjust.

As for the Bulls, with LaVine being traded, I guess DeRozan might be next possible next season. I might be wrong as well, but within the 4 teams, they're the one who got the worst players. I don't think that they also won with this one because they traded LaVine for an expiring contract in Harris, an undrafted player last season who is almost non-existent during the NBA Finals after playing his best playoffs against the Celtics, some players and draft picks.

Well, for me out of the 4 teams, the Bulls are the ones who lost with this, but the remaining 3 teams are the winners especially the Heat who are the clear winners "IF THIS WILL PUSH THROUGH". There's a big "WHAT IF???" on the middle of it. Right now, this is just a rumor still though I hope it happens. Cheesy

The Lakers giving Anthony Davis $186,000,000 with a three year extension seems a bit insane given how much time he has missed. His adjustments from not playing the Center position to now playing at that position is a big factor on this one. Add also the fact that he played way better last season that it was 2 years ago, and the fact that he wasn't that injury prone last season has also a factor as to why he got an extension.

The Lakers also need an all-star player that will stay if Lebron retires. I guess it's safe to say that the Lakers are now better than last season in terms of roster with their new acquisitions. Good moves coming from Rob Pelinka. Smiley Congratulations to Davis as well, but with him being injury-prone, I might agree with you that he got overpaid, but when he's healthy, he plays like an all-star no doubt.

Yeah but the NBA is a contract cap league not like the major league baseball league.  Meaning if AD is injured the Lakers won't have any room to sign anyone else.  They are locked into Lebron and AD and both are older and on the downward trajectory of theor careers.  They will sell seats but they aren't going to win anything with old dudes sucking up all the cap room.

I think they are still playing well; LeBron and Davis have good statistics during the playoffs. It's just that they fall short because they lack some players who could improve their team, particularly on the defensive side. If they can sign a big man to help Davis in the paint and consistent 3-point shooters, I believe they could become a championship team.

The good thing with the Lakers is that they already have LeBron and AD, both of whom have won championships together. So their teammates have confidence in them and trust that they can lead again. Yes, they lost to the Nuggets, which doesn't look good as they were swept. However, let's see in the coming season, and I believe they'll avenge their losses, especially when both AD and LeBron are healthy.

It's like they're having him the typical Lakers player so that they've got an identity through him. But with the hype that other players getting with huge contracts, I guess that the management has just happened to offer him somewhat on this bracket so that he won't move to another team and won't entertain any other deal that's surrounding him. In crucial times especially when they're approaching the playoffs despite having an injury, when he enters the court, he performs well which he should really be doing.

For it's the buildup, and the chemistry of the team that really brought them into championship level. Murray just got injured in a prior season and then Porter Jr if I'm not mistaken has suffered from back spam that really bother him.

And with the team healthy last season, we can see how they become the top contender in the West and then totally dominated the playoffs although they have to contend against Booker and Durant.

But after that, it was a mismatch with Miami in the finals.

He’d better start staying healthy for the amount of money they’re giving him. 62 million dollars when he only plays about 50 games in a good year seems like like overpaying. I sure hope that contract doesn’t come back to bite them.

And with their current lineup, this could be their last chance to have a run to the NBA championship again. Lebron + AD, and the Reaves, D'Lo, Hachimura, newly acquired Hayes to play center and then Vando as their defender specialist and then the addition as well of Gabe Vincent from Miami and the athletic Cam Reddish who should be given enough playing time hopefully so that we can see how good he was, just like when he is still with the Hawks. So it's a very effective lineup if you look at it on paper and only the chemistry is going to be tested here.

Yes, everyone knows that he is very prominent player for Lakher team but don't you think this is nothing but an insane amount of money what they offered him? And I also agree with you guys that for the money that is being offered to him, he better stay fit and play as much as possible.

On paper, this team does look very incredible to be honest. They should have a good performance with this team.

The thing about the players not going to another team is honestly a genuine worry for any team. Especially because now seems to be a time when players are raising the voice about them joining another team which is their favourite. So the teams have to go far and beyond to make sure that the players are going to stay in the team.

I would say the lineup was really good. If we based their performance last season, I can say that it's already impressive as some players came late in the season when Westbrook was traded, and some players on the current lineup like Reeves were given good minutes. For the coming season, they made some good moves by adding more players that could help on both offense and defense. Additionally, their chemistry will improve as well, so this new Lakers roster is a very dangerous team as they can dominate inside, and their defense has been impressive as well.

So the plague is starting to affect every team. Grin Big contracts for popular players.
I also disagree with the amount given but the Lakers may have loved his performance even though it was short. I mean, it's not easy to find a big man that can move, shoot, and block like Anthony Davis so protecting him with a nice contract will be given and that's also to avoid him getting some ideas of joining other teams who will give him a better deal.
The Lakers don't really have a star after Lebron and AD so I guess they can pay up. I don't think they will be sacrificing too much considering how underpaid their bench and roleplayers are.
Let's just wish the Lakers can get back the worth of their payment by AD being more healthy this season and the next 5 years.

For it's the buildup, and the chemistry of the team that really brought them into championship level. Murray just got injured in a prior season and then Porter Jr if I'm not mistaken has suffered from back spam that really bother him.

-snip-
Murray and Porter Jr. are two pretty good players, in fact, they have both become core players for the Denver Nuggets, which has led the Nuggets to win the 2022/23 NBA.
But of the two, I tend to be more amazed by Murray's game in the play-off matches.
I have not heard of any injuries they have experienced or maybe I am not up to date on the development of the Nuggets players.

If the injuries are not too serious and you can still play, I think next season the Nuggets can still be the strongest and fight for the title again.

Ricky Rubio announced his stepping out from professional activity to take care of his mental health. So, the World Cup is coming and he'll be out there for sure.

Does this means that it's possible that he's also going to be out of NBA and won't play for the Cavs when the regular season starts if he's not yet okay?

Prior to his injuries, everyone thought that he is done and it's a career ending injuries for him. But like Klay Thompson, he comes back fully healed and then as if nothing happens to win and he was instrumental to the team. Him and Jokic are the best tandem that we have.

I have not heard of any injuries they have experienced or maybe I am not up to date on the development of the Nuggets players.

Currently none, last year they are all healthy and we have seen that they are 100% that's why they win the championship. Most likely teams that are healthy throughout might have a good chance to win. But we haven't seen teams win the NBA championship back to back so let's see if the Nuggets can do it this season.

It looks like the Blazers are planning to rebuild their team and become the next Rockets considering they want to get so many draft picks for Lillard. Overall this deal looks good, although I think the Heat would be making a mistake if they parted ways with both Herro and Martin.
By the way, I just now noticed that next season is a player option for Harden, which means he has the right to become an unrestricted free agent. So if he really wants to leave the 76ers, I wonder why he hasn't exercised that right yet.

I don’t think next year is a player option for Harden. He just resigned an extension a few weeks ago, so it would be really weird if the first year of his extension was a player option…

Miami is going to end up messing up their future to get a season with Dame, but it’s their best chance at getting a chip before Butler ages any more.

It's a now or never situation for the Miami Heat that is why there are so inclined in acquiring Damian Lillard even if it will cost them that much and it's not a guarantee too but they are willing to take a risk for that while Lillard is still interested to join their roster, remember that Lillard's first choice was the Golden State Warriors but it did changed when the Warriors acquired Chris Paul before Lillard had the chance to say that he wanted a trade request towards them.

Nah, I don't think he'll give up his NBA career, it's a bit early for the 2019 FIBA MVP to give up this early. I mean that's his bread and butter right there and his passion as well. If he thought skipping the FIBA world cup could bring goodness to his career, pretty much everyone in the same shoe will do the same. It's also good for his mental health that the Spanish team respected his decision.
He should be more ready in the coming season so he won't lose but improve his value, otherwise he's going to disappear unnoticeably like the other role players in the NBA, since he's actually close to it after recovering from an injury he was struggling real hard when he have rejoined his team in the middle of the season.

What happened last season became a huge factor why the Lakers management opted to give AD with a 3-year $186 Million contract, sure he was injured during the regular games but that didn't matter to them because AD made a difference during their playoff run as the team made it to the Western conference finals. Without him on the equation, the team will not get to that point because LeBron cannot do things on his own anymore.

Anthony Davis is eligible for the maximum contract extension with that huge worth. Therefore, if the given contract is probably below, Davis might just spend the remaining 2 years on his contract and then consider leaving. What the Lakers do is secure him early despite being an injured prone.

In fairness to Anthony Davis, he's the only player I know that even an injury prone, he can unleash his monster performance right away after returning to play.

Referring to his last season performance, Davis was able to keep his average percentage after being sidelined for several games.

That is exactly what they are doing now that is why they obtained Jaxson Hayes from the free agency to become the team's new center because Anthony Davis is now going back to his original role being a power forward.

Part of their plan is to mimic the roster they had during the time when they won the championship a few years ago, which is why Davis is going back to fit and joining Lebron in the offense. And if I'm not mistaken, they are going to develop D'Angelo and Reaves as well to be more confident in shooting beyond the arc because that's what they lacked last season.

Ricky Rubio announced his stepping out from professional activity to take care of his mental health. So, the World Cup is coming and he'll be out there for sure.

Does this means that it's possible that he's also going to be out of NBA and won't play for the Cavs when the regular season starts if he's not yet okay?

It's very unlikely that Rubio will give up his NBA career. And it's common for NBA stars to take a pass on world cups, especially the American superstars since it is the Olympics that they are giving more prestige. Rubio is already 32, so he better takes care of himself physically and mentally if he wants to continue playing in the NBA once his contract expires after the 2024-25 season.

And Rubio will be excited in the coming NBA season with the arrival of Max Strus to Cleveland. Last season they already made it 4th in the Eastern Conference during the first-year stint of Donovan Mitchell so I am expecting the team to be better this coming season.

I like it how people talk about in success terms like a teams whole point is to get a win. But in reality that is not the case at all however people end up failing to realize that. The point of a team for an owner is to be a good investment, would a win make it better?

Of course it would, but also the point is the fact that if you are making a lot of money even without a win, then there is no need to keep overworking on it. Look at Knicks, they make profit every single year, hence never need to win anything, and the value of the team goes up. Having Lebron and AD on your team may or may not get you a ring, it once did, you just keep them because it makes the company a lot more valuable and that's how your teams value goes up.
