Can Trezor-Suite be directed to be connected only to a local (or specified) bitcoin (core) full node? Trezor seems quite intent on keeping connections back to the mothership locked down ... if you know what I mean. Edit: ooops, may have spoke too soon. I found this issue on github https://github.com/trezor/trezor-suite/issues/2737 ... seems like Bitcoin Full Node will be connecting to a Full Node is on the road map. Well done with the Tor support upgrade in Trezor Suite ... not sure about node.js as language choice.

Apparently you can (funny that I read the tweet about this today), but you have to install Blockbook first*: https://github.com/trezor/blockbook https://twitter.com/pavolrusnak/status/1326552425411485707?s=20 (source*)

... doesn't seem like Blockbook is easily connected to Bitcoin Core full node. You have to install the trezor back-end full node as well and have that connect to the Bitcoin Core full node ... so need to run two full nodes to support one wallet locally ...ok, nah.

You only need blockbook which apparently uses and maintains its own instance of Bitcoin Core, so you don't need to run two full nodes. I asked on their Telegram channel if it was possible to connect an exiting Bitcoin Core instance to blockbook and I got "Yes" without any more details. This config file might be worth taking a look at.

The combination of Trezor + Electrum + Electrum Personal Server + Bitcoind + Tor works better, IMHO.

How is it after all this time the top bitcoin client fullnode, Core, and the top h/ware wallet, Trezor, are not seamlessly integrated? Long past time they need to get past their little bitch fight that started back when and do the right thing for the community.

Looks like it just not my luck with Trezor ... my First Edition screen has just gone blank. Tailing the logs shows it appears to be functioning correctly, communicating, etc other wise.
Can I get a refund? I think I paid 2 BTC for it. Only been used 5 or 6 times total I think.

They are definitely not going to refund you 2 BTC for it. There is a limited two year warranty for individual users, so they even might not replace your device. Nevertheless, you should try contacting their support.

Must have been a crappy cheap screen they put in these First Edition ones?

If it's a plastic one and you got it back in 2013 then the price was 1 BTC (3 BTC for the metallic one), but that's irrelevant anyway as Trezor's warranty, like that of most electronics' devices, doesn't last that long. Two years is the EU-wide legal minimum warranty when selling to consumers. Must have been a crappy cheap screen they put in these First Edition ones?
IIRC, they did experiment with different cables, so who knows if there weren't any problems with other parts.

Frankly I could give two shitzas about scammy EU regulations regarding electronic warrranties, I just want stuff that works like it meant to.

Best thing you can do in this case is to buy the new LCD screen and replace it yourself. It is cheap and I saw several tutorials on internet with people making their own Trezor wallets. If you have your seed words just use any other wallet meanwhile. We have to face it that most modern electronic and parts are crap. I also had issue with other device (not hardware wallet) that had 3 years warranty and just few days after warranty expired it was malfunctioning and not working anymore. Cost of replacing that part would be same as buying new stuff today and I can't find anyone who would do it anyway

Well, the vast majority of electronics sold worldwide don't come with a lifetime or even a 7-8-year warranty, it is what it is. Best thing you can do in this case is to buy the new LCD screen and replace it yourself. And here someone claims to have replaced their screen: https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/bjdqcr/replace_trezor_one_case_with_metal_one/em7jrq3/Not sure if the metallic case would still be of any use, though.

Although any discount is welcome, I have a feeling that they could do it a little better. If we compare what another leading manufacturer of HW wallets has to offer, Trezor's promotion seems a bit weak. I expected them to at least offer the same price as the main competitor.

Calendar year warranties are just paper promises, if the electronics only work for 5-6 uses. Unless OLED screens have some kind of shelf-life decay process? Thanks for the screen replacement link. I took mine apart and the metallic case appears to be reusable, just clicks back together. Unfortunately the screen connection has tiny soldering points which would need some specialised equipment I think.

I don't think the price should be the same as other competitor's hardware wallets; In this case, the components, features and manufacturing costs may also differ. At least Trezor has several devices with various prices such as Trezor One and Trezor Model T to target different users.

I agree with that. I've misspoked in the previous comment. What I wanted to say, it would be cool for Trezor to have a 40-50% discount on Black Friday promotion as well.

Are there any better deals for the Trezor hardware wallet on Black Friday? I was expecting a bigger discount at the official shop, maybe there will be something for Cyber Monday?

I wouldn't count much on it if I were you. You should consider grabbing a Ledger nano S/X instead. It's 40% off: https://www.ledger.com/
