Is it possible to use Trezor from an android phone?

Not yet. There is a library that allows Android app to communicate with TREZOR here: https://github.com/trezor/trezor-android and BitcoinJ people are working on adding necessary stuff (BIP39, BIP44) to their library so we'll have everything needed to build a TREZOR App for Android.

Very nice. Cannot wait to receive mine.  Tongue

I just bought a blackphone, so if you build this app, it would be nice to publish apk on github and/or amazon store or f-droid as I don't use the playstore  Wink

I read somewhere in reddit that Trezor does work with Blackphone with its own secure/modified version of Android (since Google is NSA partner) and Mycelium. Expensive but worth it if you have enough btc to protect. I hope the TREZOR team keeps supporting Mycelium. It seems like a great combo.

I gave up with blackphone. The usb otg don't work with hw1 hardware wallet. Blackphone support is bad they did not investigate at all and did not validate some support request I posted on their website regarding usb otg.

I'm now on a note 4 from samsung...

I gave up on blackphone when they said they wouldn't be selling them for bitcoin ... even got a snotty letter back from some high-up marketing idiot saying something like "why would we do that?".

Selling a privacy-centric crypto-laden smartphone and doesn't understand why someone would want to buy one for bitcoin ... i mean what an idiot company.

Edit: apologies in advance to trezor guys for off-topic.

I wished I had purchased the First Edition Trezor, in 2013 - the ones with the metal enclosure...   Cool

Are you sure? They cost 3 times as much as the plastic ones (3 BTC, I think). It was more of a donation to the project.

OK, dug it up in this video on Feb 20 at 23 minutes in Alena Vranova clearly states that Trezor will be selling last 20 metal cased Trezors next week, says if you are interested subscribe to buytrezor.com/newsletter. That was a month ago still have not heard any more news. I would certainly buy one as a collectible, there will not be any more. Guess they changed their minds.

I confirm, we've been waiting for some deliveries and setting up the bundle now in the eshop, it will go live within these days.

Can you give us any price estimation for those last twenty units? Will they be priced similarly to a normal Trezor, or go for the 3 BTC or so that molecular estimated the early ones sold for? I suspect it'll be the second option, but we can always hope. Tongue

Given these were given basically as a "thank you" for early supporters of the project, I sure hope they sell for a steep, steep premium above "normal" trezors.

Tbh, I would auction them off to the highest bidders, really.

That's not a bad idea. It would ensure that they're truly going to people who are interested in owning them (since they'd be willing to pay so much for them) rather than whoever is able to refresh their browser page quick enough to place an order for one of the twenty units. They'd definitely be a great novelty item for a bitcoin fanatic.

Buy any recent Samsung phone, install Signal, ChatSecure and Tor. Pay cash. I mean, what else is a Black Phone anyway? (Use private wifi with Tor and/or VPN; create brand new google account from a subway station with free wifi.)

Sorry for the OT too. LOL.

Hey everybody, I just ordered a trezor and can't wait to receive it and start my experiments with it.

I was wondering, on the specification site it just mentions the CPU Type and Screen Resolution etc,
but there is no info about what RAM (how much, what kind) this device uses:

http://doc.satoshilabs.com/trezor-faq/hardware.html

So, how much RAM is actually available on the device itself?

I'm asking, because is there for example a limit on the amount of private keys I can store?

And yes, before someone gives me an answer along the lines of "deterministic wallet's don't work like that"... I'm more talking about maximum amount of "accounts"!

I found some clarification in this video here: https://player.vimeo.com/video/147404505

So we are talking about some kind of "embedded Flash" memory here?

Is it still just 512 kByte that has to be divided between bootloader, metadata and firmware?

Yes

hm, that's a little lame for a 99$ device.

But now I understand why they don't openly mention this.

Sorry, but "deterministic wallet's don't work like that".
Accounts are also computed on the fly. No need to store anything.

They don't run Linux on this.
They don't need to have heaps of unused but energy wasting RAM and Flash just for bragging rights.

Well obviously.

No need to store anything.

So the program running on this device doesn't perform any read/write operation on anykind of datastructure? Not even a few (kilo)bytes?
Not even during initialization? There must be atleast one write operation, right? When we import a seed?

I know that the CPU has embedded Flash, but does it also have embedded Data Memory?

You might find Stellaw blog interesting. He examines and explains firmware and hardware of Trezor.

They obviously decided not to hold an auction and set what they thought was a price the market would bear. Smart move.
