How much privacy do you give up by using the website myTrezor.com to store your bitcoins?

Can the owners / webmaster of myTrezor.com see how many bitcoins you have?  Your bitcoin addresses?

On balance, myTrezor.com has some quite valuable information about it's users, so be careful the way you use it if you value your financial privacy (be aware also that myTrezor.com must collect this information in order to operate at all, it's a knock-on effect of using a client-sever model for a wallet service).

What does this mean?  "Quite valuable information" ? You make it seem like they know your name, address, social security #, the works...

No, I stipulated exactly what, I didn't "make it seem" like anything it isn't (I even used the expression "financial privacy", to which none your examples conform to). The "quite valuable information" is in the part of the post you didn't quote (and presumably didn't read).

The information myTrezor.com does obtain about it's users is detailed in that part of my post (and confirmed in the posts of others). I also stated that myTrezor.com needs the information in order to operate at all using this network model (client-server).

Just to make sure you know there are alternatives: other wallets (like electrum, mycelium and probably more) offer trezor support. Not to say they have less privacy concerns, but at least with electrum, you have a choice of server and everybody can run one.

Which electrum server would you recommend despite using your own one?

FUCK YEAH!

This is even better news than the recent bitcoin rallye ;-)

I've been waiting for this and it seems it's rather well implemented, too.

2 things I'm wondering:

  • Is it possible to use a passphrase to protect seed backup and/or for plausible deniability?
  • What to do when login forms are not recognized (like on https://signin.ebay.com for example)?

wow. I can't get over it. This will make me sleep better in the future.

I think trezor bridge is discontinued.

https://github.com/trezor/trezord

is the replacement, maybe?

I'm not sure it's needed in this case. I don't use any of these things (using electrum albeit mytrezor.com also works in chrome)

You have to wait for main Ethereum wallet (Mist) developers to integrate Trezor support.

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed burn-in on the screen of their Trezor? I recently changed the background of my Trezor and noticed that the original padlock logo (default background screen) was burnt into the display. I was surprised when I saw that, because I try and only plug my Trezor in when I'm sending funds, so it shouldn't have many screen hours on it.

I know it's a far shot, but any sort of a fix for this problem? I was thinking I could make an inverse padlock screen and set that as my background, but I'm not sure if that would do anything.

haha, now we literally need a screensaver for trezor?

It's quite possible. I did a little research before asking here and it looks like people have suggested implementing a screensaver before, because they ran into the exact same burn-in issue as me.
