Yup, the protocol is fixed and low-maintenance. I've seen a lot of projects that keep adding features to chase new users, but actually I think it's important to keep the project consistent, reliable and understandable. HOdlcoin is a simple proposition and elegantly implemented. It's Bitcoin with interest and bonus interest for early adopters and HOdlers.

Anyone who can understand Bitcoin can understand HOdlcoin.

Something I saw from previous projects is that users really like to see their HOdlings grow. Something very satisfying about that, so HOdlcoin is really designed with this user feedback in mind. It's a slow burner, so it won't suddenly show up on CMC at 10mil, but as we see addition of exchanges, services, pools, miners, stats and time . . we will see a gradual rise in supply and market cap.

Is it possible for you to port over the lottery function from your previous projects?
It would be a nice extra addition for HODL and cant hurt

Sigh.

Huh I was just trying to suggest a possible + easy use case that could be implemented for HODL.
It is not to chase new users but for existing users to use their hodl in some way + it would be beneficial for HODL economy since it could mitigate some of the inflation.
Did not mean to offend in any way.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I found an old laptop and waited for it to sync, and I set mining to "solo mining on".
How do I know if it's mining in the background? Also, sorry for all the questions but I have one more :-)
How do I find my HODL address?

Thank you for all the help!

Depending on how old a laptop it is...you'll know you're mining when smoke starts to raise from the innards. Tongue

In all seriousness though, if your CPU usage is at (or near) 100% for the wallet process, you're mining.
Find your HOdl address by choosing 'File > Receiving Addresses' from the menu (just like in the BTC wallet)...assuming you're using the Qt GUI wallet.

I'm on the debug log thing but there is no hashes per second,
All I see is a bunch of roots and hashes and Blokc:Cblockindex, etc.

Interest is paid per block. Don't need to do anything to get the base interest.

What I meant is that DOGE was underestimated because of it's 'funny' character but at the end... it did pretty well. Wink

DOGE has been the most ridiculous hyped coin in cryptos history, there's nothing in any way good about it.

Hype made it rise, and fall.

Dogs can say they're HOdling, but they can't HOdl. That's the difference.

Looks good, thank you. Merged.

Unfortunately the youtube connotations of pulling and squirrels are all pretty negative. :\

It's important to know that HOdlcoin is 100% PoW.. we are not PoS.. interest is a new function added to the blockchian.. everyone earns interest evenly and you dont have to have a wallet open on your PC..

*sigh*

Gaining Interest ≠ Proof-of-Stake

That is a terrible misassumption that has spread amongst the crypto world and it needs to die.
