Two weeks?  Smiley  One hopes they did not ship it via slow-boat!  Smiley
which serious shipping time do you really expect? (in which location?)
TIA

My shipping location is the United States (North Carolina).  FedEx could get it here quickly, but that involves expensive airplanes.  Could be 48 hours, could be a week or two.  Who knows.

Thank you jgarzik. But wouldn't it be really easy for someone from Avalon just to take a photo before shipping, its kinda weird and smells fishy - selling something with no pic.

A paranoid person would speculate that the lack of any photo/video prevents customs from attempting to keep shipped product before it gets to the customers.

I for one appreciate the care the Avalon team is taking for their customers.

Congrats, Avalon team!

Bitsyncom, can you share any specs regarding physical dimensions and weight?

Something about the total absence of pics from the get-go has left me wondering why the Avalon Employee who posts here can abbreviate their username as BS... The math just doesn't work out, either... You'd think people who have so much reason to stick it to BFL in a glorious and horrible way would do so with a few pics.

Call me any names you like... I'm still sticking with BFL. This Avalon business doesn't smell right. I'll be happy to print this out and eat it if I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong. But, me being wrong is a pretty rare thing...

Regardless of all that, I much prefer the smarter FCBGA package. I'm shocked and disappointed that it wasn't the choice from the beginning for all would-be ASIC makers. The density made it obvious that heat would be an issue. I was totally derp-face to see that a product was shipping that WASN'T FCBGA. We all <3 the OCing, liquid cooling, etc... FCBGA is the only package that makes sense, even if heat weren't an issue, simply because the tendency of the community to mod and push limits is well known. Even if heat were not an issue at spec, most of us customers would MAKE it an issue.

I'm not in this to get in on a 2 week (probably less) gold rush. I want to see the network become stupidly strong. If units can ship that become double what they were, that does more for the network than a token "we shipped 1 unit and won't even prove it's real with a simple photograph."

Congratulation, I'm happy that you, Avalon customers, will be able to recoup the cost of your purchase quickly.

It was IMO a bold move at the time to go with Avalon instead of BFL. You deserve every satoshi coming out of it.

I fear it's a matter of time before BFL get to deal with legal action on top of their multiple fuckups.

Imagine someone purchasing a MiniRig with BTCs @6$ to get in the race early...........  (I'm having some mixed feelings today....  Cry)

PIX!!

[13:22:55] <markedathome> now we need tracking number to jgarzik so that we can see a countdown to delivery, then a countdown to unboxing vid, countdown to powerup and mining vid, then countdown to teardown and post of BOM

That would be epic.

I'll be happy to print this out and eat it if I'm wrong.

I'd actually like to see that too.

(for the record, I do not know shipping method, nor have a tracking number)

Even their customers are kept in the dark about the shiping method and the tracking number? If they selected an express service we hopefully get your report in a few days. I never thought that the switch to ASIC mining will be so interesting.

wow, just, wow

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

I think it's a good idea to give credit of the first picture to the receiving end.

Because at this time nobody should give the slightest fuck about what an ASIC mining device look like. (BFL - That's no Ferrari)

No proof of existence needed for me other than an hashrate at 30 TH/S +

We've anticipated this behavoir, so we decided to wait a little and address the following.

Quote
Trolls: omg post fucking photos!

Avalon posts photo.

Trolls: how we know these things even work! post fucking videos.

Avalon posts video.

Trolls: wtf that shit is staged.

Avalon says: wait till third party review.

and back where I originally started.
