Case is not empty, treasure is real, keep guessing. it has something to do with this I am going to guess that you made the internal boards upgradeable. (Individual modules. Hence the four blocks? Or it could be interpreted as a PLUS symbol?) ??? ???? == Add More Hints at modular nature, like PuertoLibre guessed, you will probably be able to buy individual boards and hook them in like the ModMiner Quad. Yay speculation!

We underestimated the shipping cost by like $80 per unit
I would suggest that for the second batch and beyond, for all US orders, that Avalon make one big shipment (or a series of medium-sized shipments) to Yifu in New York, who can then ship them himself (or with an assistant) to individual US customers by UPS or similar. I second that, and I'd be curious to know the details. It may not be cheaper, but it might be faster..compared to dealing with customs on a "per ASIC" basis. Sounds like a good idea.

Maybe I'm wrong, but somehow I think that one big intl shipment plus a bunch of small domestics will cost less than shipping direct to each customer by express intl means. Of course this doesn't help matters with non-US customers. There might be customs implications with this strategy. Bulk shipping would probably be cheaper but you don't necessarily need to ship to one recipient - you just make the batch big enough to take advantage of bulk rates. Generally, consignments are handed off to local delivery services for final delivery anyway so the units would land in the US as a batch and then be handed off to local services for individual delivery.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

They've mentioned waiting till after CNY somewhere. Avalon remains the class act of the ASIC vendors.
Shipment of batch 2 will be after CNY. I think they will take orders before then though. I would guess around the first or second week of Feb. Thanks, I knew that at some point in the past from reading the Glari thread, must have killed a few brain cells since.

Yay speculation! have we been told what sort of input/outputs/display these may have? I wouldnt be suprised if they were modular, but so are a lot of FPGA rigs, so it wouldnt be very big news. The image shows no connectivity options, thats where i think the surprise is. A small display on the front could make the units run practically as standalones. Or, maybe theres some sweet led lighting and cold cathode tubes inside the case to make it glow/pulse to the speed of its hashing (also customisable to match the pace of music, if you decide to hold an ASIC PARTY!!!!!!

Sending scanned documents payment order number 200000846. Tell me when it will be shipped? You can specify the amount of sending $ 720
why the order status has not changed? wrote to your support, even in different places. No one answers.
Order # Date Ship To Order Total Status 200000846 11/24/12 ---- $8,159.94 Pending Wire View Order
No offense anti76, You sent a wire on 01/10/2013 for this order, long after everyone else and the orders have ended, which effectively making you the last person who will receive these units, and because of the paranoid security measures we take, I am unable to get secure access to change your order at the moment, nor I am in a hurry. I have already informed you in the previous thread I am aware of this order and this will be taking cared of. Since ultimately we are at fault for not closing your order after you failed to pay in 10 days as per Terms of Service you accepted when purchasing Avalon, I will be honoring your wire payment, but I am more than happy to issue you a refund if these terms are not satisfactory. Cool, i have 4 units still on the "pending wire" status on your website (just logged in for the luz). Can i send in a wire too?

More FUD. No hard evidence that they actually have a product, let alone shipped. Those receiving product have come out and said that they haven't received a tracking number or confirmation of shipping.
One obscure picture that shows nothing doesn't count.
I still stand by they're using this thread to buy another 1-2 weeks before they ACTUALLY deliver something, without having to announce a delay beyond their countdown timer.

around 12 a day currently, so total about 40, however I am seriously unsure how many actually made it outside of the country, I'll be giving Jeffs tracking number soon as I get it, during business hours I call the people handling the shipping every 2 hours or so for updates.
We are seriously bottle necked by Customs at the moment ( due to upcoming CNY as well ) and are looking for more routes, it isn't really a trade secret as this is honestly beyond our control at this point. God, I hate sounding like BFL.
BitSyncom, Please answer the folowing two questions: 1. What is the name of Avalon written in the invoice in orders already shipped? 2. Will be there WT as payment option available in your second batch? If you are cutting off WT for you second batch it automaticly means that all of your EU csutomers (or most of them) will not be able to be your customers. In my country when something is imported it is a customs requiremet to show proof of payment - document for the bank proving the ammout of WT. All uf us know that using BTC it can not ever happen. I personaly prefer BTC payment of course but it is not an option Pls comment Thank you very much in advnce

So I ordered at the beginning of October, paid on the same day, patiently waited, but now I see that my order has the status "canceled" on the Avalon site.
I've pm'ed BitSyncom with my order and payment details, emailed and opened a support case with Avalon, waited a week, but I haven't heard back anything. I would really appreciate a confirmation of my order, otherwise I feel like I was scammed out of 111 BTC.
Bumping this issue. Haven't heard from Avalon in 2 weeks. I really don't like spamming the threads, but BitSynCom is actively posting in them and I have been unable to communicate with them through other channels.

This has been/is being considered as well, trust me when I said when are looking into other routes. If you did that, you could save some shipping weight by removing the power supplies and installing new power supplies purchased stateside. Save the left over power supplies still in China for non-US batch 2 customers. (I may know of a guy in the NY area who may have a bunch of 1000W SeaSonic 80-Plus Platinum power supplies he will be needing to unload. Not that Avalon will need 1000W.)

Anyways, cooling was the exact opposite, our units cool so well, we removed two fans. ZING.
Then the released pic shows the previous design with 3 fans and now it's got only one? 5 --> 3 ?

@ BitSyncom Since you have time to answer all the really nice questions above; Maybe you have also the time to answer this? -How many units have you ship so far -and how much is the expected daily capacity before the CNY?
Or is it a trade secret? Thanks for your time.

God, I hate sounding like BFL. Anyone know what the lowest order number is? Does anyone have an order number below 200000100? Bitsyncom, are you shipping FIFO based on payment time or order # or can you differentiate?

Does this come with a port to pump liquid nitrogen inside the case to keep it from melting?
Huh? They've been quoting 400 watts. Who has trouble cooling a 4U case pulling 400 watts? What is the temperature of the room that this would need to be in? If you had 50 of them in a room would they be able to cool themselves with just the fans? You would need at least 10 Tons of cooling and exhaust for the heat. So 20KW for the units and 20KW for the AC and exhaust. Not too bad for 3TH+ Wow, thermodynamics.....is not your strong suit. bo2573 is a BFL whale (medical doctor, not dumb). No doubt what he's posting here is the insider information frantically provided to him to explain why he chose poorly.

My speculation: The product is obviously modular. There is a mainboard with some control electronics (microcontroller and the openwrt processor) The daughterboards (with asics) are vertically oriented for maximum airflow by the cards. I I I I I < daughterboards --------- < mainboard Also, I meant to post this when it was obvious Avalon came first. Way to go, Avalon.

That was my assumption. I wonder how they'll implement it? Using something like a PCI card edge connector would seem to be a good choice, but their case looks fully custom anyway.

Since my post was moved wholesale with the bounty discussion I have to ask again:
Are customers being contacted prior to having their units shipped? Because I need to set straight a couple of things before my units leave. I sent several e-mails regarding this in the past couple of weeks and even opened a ticket on support.avalon-asic.com , but I have yet to receive a response on either channel.
Also, I reiterate my earlier question - do the units have some sort of LCD display on them, to monitor temperatures and stuff at a glance or was it scrapped from the project? That is, if it was planned in the first place.
