I'm curious how the tires affect the driving behavior and the pit stops? The car is getting heavier and the tires (rims) are considerably heavier than those in use now. In any case, to the eye the tires are more beautiful than the old ones. I read the new tires are 4 kg heavier per wheel?

I did a little research on the internet and found these ideas about the new tires.
The geometry of the car will not change much due to the tires so they could easily use the suspension they are already using.
The risk rises and from what they say they suffer cuts on the tire.
The biggest problem will be the transfer of heat from the brakes to the rubber, since the rim of the wheel is larger it will be difficult to transfer the heat from the brakes to the rubber to reach the ideal temperature, whoever manages to find a solution will be favored (heating a tire one lap earlier could translate into a 5-second advantage in my opinion)

The front tires will be smaller than the current ones and therefore you will have a small aerodynamic advantage but the aerodynamic will change anyway

I just heard that Jorge Martin had surgery on his hands and feet. He had an accident in the 3rd free practice session at the Portugal. Remember he is a new rider this season, he did well at Losail. He was able to set a record for a new racer. In the Losail series he was able to appear in pole position after which he only needed two races to get on the podium, he finished in 3rd position at Losail. Hopefully we can see him back in Spain.

You are right. But I don't understand why they gave a 10-sec stop&go penalty to Perez. He was out of the track limits and 2 drivers passed him under the safety car. After that, he took his place back as the safety car was still on the track. But they said it was not legal. I didn't know such thing exists in F1 rules.

You can't pass under the safety car so he shouldn't have taken his place "back", he had lost his place.

There is an exception to this, that also happened, it's when the safety car is leading the pack to the start of the race, or a restart after a red flag.

But Perez did it during a safety car after an accident, which is dangerous because the track isn't clear.

Variety and exciting races are guaranteed with many manufacturers and good fights from the drivers. I hope that something will happen to the tires in the next few years, at the moment the driver has to be very careful with his tires.

IT seems a fun track, we have several points for overtaking with 2 fast long straights and huge braking points.

Sadly is not a true track so he has not the magic we all know.

I thought the new wheels would look like road car wheels but I see that's not the case, they're still very distinctive. Very good to see.

Correct you may only overtake when the race control announce it. For example when the lapped drivers may pass the safety car.

How sick is Martin? I was horrified to see that. But it seems that Martin injury is not as bad as Marquez. Does Martin Airbag Work? I haven't seen the video accident? I heard airbags on the racer shirts in 2019, but are they working properly?

26G is insane. Grosjean had even more in his crash but he had a chassis around him which helped reduce it of course.

He will back soon. Nothing big like Marquez did.
He should be back in 5weeks according to the plan meanwhile he will changed for Tito Rabat in this Ducati Pramac.

One thing everyone should understand why tires are so important is the differences between racers at the early race and mid race. Most of the time people are close to each other, sure with a lot of laps that difference gets bigger but on the early race to mid race we are talking about just few seconds, which means everything that help you get faster will make a huge impact on later race for sure.

If you have heavy tires there is a big chance you could go a long distance without a pit spot, and when you have soft tires that means it will run out quicker, these cars go 300+ km per hour and that means the tires will be basically bone dry by the end of the race if you do not do a pit spot.

Basically the best one would be to find a way to have just one tire to go all race without any pitspot but that would make you very slow if you have tires like that, a soft tire that can go at least 30+ laps and require only one pit stop would be ideal but that hasn't been figured out yet, so these improvements are all just research for that.

This means the tires will need more time to get the high temperature needed to be in the optimal range, have you ever seen drivers doing hard breakers in the formation lap for heating tires? Tires get the majority of the initial heat from breakings.
This means a huge advantage for the one who will find how to get the higher temperature earlier over opponents.

DAS for example with these tires is a HUGE advantage but it is banned.
If a team can think something out of the schemes for this problem it can earn even 10 seconds on every pit stop.

However reality is that if you have heavier tires that means you are not going to need to change it as frequently as the other ones, which means you do not need that much pit stop, that is the number one deal in F1 where if you need excessive pit stop or you take too much time you can lose many places since it is a sport that decisive in seconds.

If there was a lighter tire, that heats very well and can go the distance like a heavy one that would be great for everyone, and if one team figured it out, all others would definitely steal it and do it themselves too, but it is not possible for now. I believe tire improvements matter a lot, but it is going to be small and fractions of one second changes since all the changes that could be done has already been done with this technology, either we need a better and new technology which needs to pass the rules, or we are going to have similar tires all around.

This is true but F1 usually pushes tire developers to a specific target of laps.
F1 wants softer tiers if needed and it will be always this line since pits stops are a variable into a boring sport.

Pirelli often said they could do better tires with similar grip for the entire race but they do not want/can't because F1 said to use degradable tires.

Jorge Martin's crash looks bad, and I didn't see anything like an airbag even if apparently there is one according to the graph.

He just had surgery so planning on his return is a bit early I feel.

So I’ve been hearing news about sprint racing that’s going to be tested in three GP’s this year.  I watched a video about it, explaining it and it just confused me.  Lol.  Let’s see how it goes and if it makes every GP better for the fans.  I wonder how it changes from a betting perspective tho.
