What we really need, given that Mercedes and Red Bull are so closely matched, is for Bottas and Perez to step it up a bit. Max vs Lewis at the front is better than just Lewis at the front, it adds some competition. But if we had both Red Bulls and both Mercs up there, vying for position, undercutting each other and forcing split strategies, it would be more interesting.

I really hope the 2022 changes have the desired effect of bringing the pack closer together and allowing more overtaking.

It will indeed at least at the start, cars are supposed to lose around 50% of their efficiency so it should be very easy to stay close to another car if their performance will be close.
The problem of 2022 cars is the starting point of the cars, if one team will have the "brawnGP" idea, not the same but another X factor Idea they will be the winner and the other cannot even compete with them.

So true. The circuit itself is amazing if you race on it but for watching it won't deliver any big shows or crashes that would put the fan on the edge when he's watching. And yes, another failed start for Bottas but I think he knows well his role in the team and even if he had a good start and great pace, at some point the team orders would come and Lewis will pass him. It happened today with Lec and Sainz too.

I was expecting it to be a beautiful race as last year was a good one with a lot of action.The Mercedes team is really strong again this year but Red Bull is also a bit closer to them.It takes Max now to show his true potential and win races just like he did in Imola in order to not make this another boring F1 season.

Yes, agreed. I'm not sure who has the best car right now. Red Bull and Mercedes are certainly closely matched, and the advantage could well swing between them depending on the specifics of each track. I do hope it's not the case that Mercedes are improving their car race by race and will soon be the clear leader. We need tight competition between teams.

Exactly. It is largely irrelevant whether or not Bottas finishes ahead of Hamilton in qualifying... because you know that Hamilton will overtake him in the race every single time. I do feel for Bottas; he is a good driver... he's just nowhere near as good as his team-mate.

Yes enough to cheer me up the race this time. I didn't think Yamaha would be scattered, Ducati had a party yesterday. Two Ducati riders were able to finish in positions one and two. It seems that Quartararo must be willing to finish in 13th position because of a pain in his arm. But I am amazed by Morbidelli he was able to finish in 3rd position, Rossi should be ashamed of him because Rossi's motorbike is newer, except for his old age.

It's like Bottas is clearly the # 2 driver. Because the car is so good and RedBull hasn't had a good # 2 driver in the last few years, it has always been enough for the World Championship.

I do not know who started this "red bull finally looks like they are closer to mercedes this year" topic back in the first races. However I am glad that it is over, people were really hyping a chance for Max to win it this year, and I do hope that he does end up winning, but the fact is that "Formula 1 is a race with 20 clubs that mercedes wins" is still valid. They are just insanely better than everyone else, all the other formula teams are just following them, Red Bull has the chance of spending insane amount of money, which I am sure eventually will allow them to become at the top as well, but that doesn't change the fact that currently Mercedes is much much better.

This is going to be a bit of a tough situation for Max because he is expected so much but just look at his teammate, Max is just way to good, give him mercedes and he would be champion every year as well, he is just unlucky.

Rumor, if the Gp of Mexico will be eliminated for Covid situation they are now thinking about adding a second GP in the USA.

The location will be probably Indianapolis in the old f1 track version.

Rumor, if the Gp of Mexico will be eliminated for Covid situation they are now thinking about adding a second GP in the USA.

It's strange to see romours that Mexico GP can be cancelled. There is half year left until this race and with things like vaccination, I don't see any reasons why they would need to cancel this race.
Indianapolis road circuit would be interesting choice. Last time race there were held probably 15 years ago, so barely can remember how good or bad race there was. Only thing which stuck in my mind when there just 6 cars started in race.

If they remove GPS in South America they will probably race in the USA instead with the heavy ongoing vaccination campaign.

They can't move cars all over the world every 2 weeks so they will probably find 2-3 tracks in the USA.

I hope Brazilian GP in Sao Paulo takes place as it is a very good and technical track where in these last couple of years the races have been intense in action and beautiful to watch.
If however this GP is removed we have to be happy with whatever the replacement will be.

I was also amazed, perfect work from Ducati. At first I thought Fabio's tires had deteriorated a lot, but he was in pain and had already had an operation. I hope he will be fit again for the next race.

I really love the Brazilian GP. But we also know that how much terrible the covid-19 condition there is. They don't want to take a big risk by letting the race happen, of course. There are still 6 months though. Maybe we can see it happening if things get much better at Brazil in time.

Russell is definitely a big up and coming name, he has been racing incredibly well so far. Last year he had just one race where he could show what he could do but obviously he was way too scared of the management so when he was asked to do something he did that and he was scared when racing as well so he didn't do as well as hoped.

However given enough time and experience that dude could become much much more than bottas ever was.

Yeah, all he needs is a season or two under his belt and he would be better than Bottas right away, after that it is just about how Mercedes would have a racer to replace Hamilton when he retires, he will be that good.

Red Bull situation is different, Mercedes just has a much better car than anyone else and it is not that easy to suddenly spend money and be better, even if you inject 1 billion dollars cash, it is not sudden and they obviously are not doing that, so even if we will see an improvement, it is going to be gradual and tiny each season.

I also think that Russell will drive for Mercedes next year, he is definitely the future for the Mercedes team, just wait and see how long Hamilton will drive and how strong the car is after the rule changes. For me it will also be interesting how "greedy" Hamilton is in the contract negotiations and whether Mercedes wants to overpay that.
