Why can't  just split the DAG file to make the 2GB GPU work  Huh

Ethminer seems to have tried to do it, but it hasn't worked out yet.

Video games break up large files. I don't understand why can't do this in mining?

He is actually correct. Back in the days when the DAG file was like > 2GB, I was upset that I couldn't mine with my 2GB GPUs. And there was a developer from the eth foundation that basically was working on a miner software where it would split the DAG file and make it possible to mine on 1GB, 2GB. The miner worked in simulation mode at reduced speeds, however it never worked in a real mining situation. Hence the project was dropped. However lately it seems that lolminer has figured out a way to split the DAG file and possible to mine when DAG exceeds 4GB in the coming months. However... the speeds will be much slower AND with every new dag they will slow down and down and down.

The reason why you can do this in video games is because they don't require as fast speeds as mining does. So in a video game the memory is loaded either on the RAM or SSD and later transferred to the GDDR, however it doesn't need to had super fast unlike mining. So as long as gameplay isn't interupted its fine, however for mining it wouldn't work.

Yeah that's part of the fuss over the new RTX and AMD 6xxx cards, windows drivers will supposedly support direct access so the GPU memory can run at an elevated level and not be nannied by the OS as much. I guess AMD is trying some proprietary caching with that 128MB cache on the cards to speed up predictive hits. For games seems to be between 5% and 12% boost. It would be nice if that higher speed cache could work (mine) at a faster rate.

CLAYMORE v15 HAS MEMORY ENHANCEMENT TEAKS--.

It does not have the original ETHLargementPill "built-in".  Claymore is reputed to be better, if your launch string is well written.  I found it more stable with my 1080ti.

Yes last week I did some digging and if the dev address that was posted a few pages back is accurate and its indeed one of Claymore'd addresses then going foward with the ETH transfers you can see that he was active back in the Summer sometime.

Really hard to say why he isn't selling. Maybe he is a hardcore ETH believer and waiting for ETH 2.0. So if ETH clears over $1000 again in the future I am expecting that Claymore will do more transfers to exchanges to sell his ETH stack. However if he still doesn't sell when ETH goes to $1000 or $2000 then obviously something might of happened with him. Because who in their right mind wouldn't at least sell some ETH at 4 figures.

Well he did make lots of money but you need to understand a regular computer programmer probably wouldn't have the experience to make these miners. Regular CPU programming is different from GPU programming. GPU programming I would say its a special niche and not too many people know how to do it properly. Basically GPUs have many cores unlike CPUs and you need to code it to perform the same repetative tasks as fast as possible and then compute the result.

So it takes special skill and experience to make these miners. Also AMD algos are different from Nvidia algos, so you need more experienced if you want a larger amount of miners. Hence he made tons of money because at the time, he was maybe the only coder which can make an ETH software. Only other people are maybe the ETH foundation, that wolf0 guy and Claymore. These guys are very old school.

it's a scam.. there's a bot that keeps posting it in multiple post several times a day by several hacked accounts.  it always post with a new hacked account.

if you download it, yours will be the next hacked account to post it. Shocked

Change your password immediately and clean up your PC (eventually the best would be to format it)
Just in case. Chrome seems to have blocked it but it could also have been a spoofed block (meaning chrome appeared to have blocked it but in fact it was a decoy)

TO THE ABSOLUTE NEWBIE THAT NEVER READS MORE THAN THE LAST POST IN A THREAD--

You know who you are.  Just don't download ANY "pill" or "hashup" program that is offered in the popular miner threads on BitCoinTalk (BCT).  There is a BOT, BOTS, or hacker gang behind these malicious posts.  You may loose your user account, or cryptocoins, or the security of your PC system.

The "pill" offered is malicious software.  The posts are constantly re-posted with new or hacked and stolen user accounts.  Knowledgable users have tested the "pill" and confirmed it is a Trojan.

JUST REPORT THE POST!  Use the "report" link in the bottom right of every BCT post.  The moderator is deleting these posts as rapidly as possible, sometimes immediately after a report.  Just please report the post with the report link.

Thanks in advance!       --scryptr

It seems that every post that the scammer makes its pretty much identical to the one prior, I am wondering why can't the mods just set some type of script which can auto detect that post and automatically delete it when someone posts it. Sure some legit posts can get deleted which quote it however it would just delete the post and not ban the user.

Because whenever I checked the claymore thread in the last few days, the very lost post prior to yours was the scammer posting the same links over and over again. Seems that they are lazy and don't even bother to change up their text even a little. Since they keep coming back, obviously it must be working since people are downloading it and getting their crypto stolen.

I JUST REPORTED ANOTHER POST--

I hope it will be gone when I check again later.  Usually, it is gone.  I check BCT threads a few times a day about the miners that I use .  Actually, reporting the posts is like picking up aluminum cans for recycling, a hobby for the bored.

If I had a penny per report, I could buy a beer.       --scryptr

EDIT:  So, I checked back a few hours later and the malicious link post above this post is thankfully gone.  I'm still thinking about the beer, though!

(lol) actually there were two "ETHpill" posts below scryptr's post before the newly posted one.

There must be a way to filter these via a handful of keywords, no?

I just bought my first video cards. I have 570 4 GB. Why can't I mine Ethereum on Claymore? All sites advise you to do so. But it doesn't start for me. What do I need to mine on 570 Ethereum?

It will be complicated with Claymore, they are not updating to software so you need to look for another solution,  one miner that is been developing with the recent changes in the big Epoch is Lolminer… Also he has update for the future update of ETC DAG end of this month...

What's the dual mining coin of choice these days, or do people not even bother with the dual part now that there's essentially 0 earnings?
