coinbase price $838, bitmain's price $809/btc.
you are paying 3.5% extra bitcoins (after you probably gave 3.99% extra $$ to coinbase for a cc purchase+possible extra cc fees)

I would not buy any miners from bitmain, unless it has an accurate price.

I've never purchased BTC, I'm using coin which I mined years ago. Bitmain appear to follow closer to the BTC-e price.

While I'm not happy to pay a premium, I do take comfort in the knowledge that Bitmain have a track record of delivering product and the use of escrow isn't required, plus the fact that it's difficulty to find second-hand sellers willing to send ex USA.

They just announced T9 miner (11.5th/s) with less efficiency at 0.126 J/h+7%
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1755286.0
similar setup to early s7 and  late s7 (less chips, less efficiency); here they separated S9 and T9 (less chips, less efficiency).
Good for those who has functional S9-those will be sold with some premium from now on.

i think they figure the reason of high S9 hashboard failure
it's the power needed for the chips!
so they produced T9 with 180 days warranty
each T9 board have 57 chips instead of 63 and need 480W to power instead of 400W
less chips more power!

Interesting move on the T9. I wonder if its appearance is related to the recent steep rise in difficulty.

Was I helpful?   BTC: 3G1Ubof5u8K9iJkM8We2f3amYZgGVdvpHr

They were due to either release more S9's or something like this. Doesn't matter too much as they're close in efficiency.

This is like a 30% difference in efficiency, not sure that is very close (unless my math is wrong, it is early)

I'd have to check again but I didn't think it was that much of a difference. Remember the T9 is cheaper by ~$100 too.

its actually about 20%. 400 vs 480w

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

T9 spec:
Power Consumption   1450W  +7% (at the wall, with Bitmain's APW3 PSU, 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temperature)

I am still trying to figure out how this is a good thing  --or--  how I can convince myself to buy T9s?    Huh

With t9 at 1450w it is going to use 90% of the bitmain 1600 psu capacity.
Should be 80% for safety.

Well if you find cheap used S9's buy em up, else if you have slightly cheaper electricity go for a T9. Really your choice here, I'd personally go with the S9 as there is no proof of better workmanship on the miner or better underclocking of their chip as of yet on the T9. I'd hold off on the miner until reviews get to the forum.

Doesn't look like they over-priced it does it? I wouldn't expect a lower price on the next batch of the T9 if it sells this well.

The T9 employs the same 16nm ASIC chip as the Antminer S9 and this T9 batch can deliver a hashrate of 11.5TH/s with an efficiency of 0.126J/GH (+7%).
