Can confirm this.  This is where I get the majority of my 300/300s.

I am now experiencing the 300/300 problem with gpu0, regardless of how I set up my rig or which PCIe slot I use.

Before this afternoon, everything was cruising along fine for the last week with my 3 x MSI rx 470 gaming 4GB rig. Today, I received risers in the mail, and proceeded to make my 3 gpu rig into a 6 gpu rig. I eventually managed to get it to boot up and everything looked like it was going as planned, but gpu0 was stuck at 4.04 mh/s (with the dashboard indicating it was clocked at 300/300), while the rest of the cards performed as expected.

I began working backwards, thinking I had a hardware problem, but after a couple rounds of unplugging what I thought was gpu0, and upon reboot, gpu0 still operating at 4.xx mh/s with the dashboard indicting the card was clocked at 300/300, I started to suspect otherwise. I finally got down to one card, and after several reboots and moving it around to several different PCIe slots, same thing.

I upgraded to the beta 4.11 kernel, and that didn't help.

After all of that, I started reversing the other changes I made to my rig in anticipation of adding additional cards. I purchased an MSI Z170A Gaming M5 mobo because all of the mobos traditionally favored by miners are scarce and, to put it politely, selling at a premium. There are several people who said they were able to get 7 cards running on this board, and they outlined the changes to the BIOS that were necessary. When I undid those changes, my gpu0 went back to working correctly. The changes to the BIOS consisted of the following to the PCI subsystem settings:

PEG0 - Max Link Speed: change from [Auto] to [Gen1]
PEG1 - Max Link Speed: change from [Auto] to [Gen1]
Above 4G Decoding: [Disabled] to [Enabled]

Through process of elimination (i.e., testing my system with only one card installed directly on the mobo), I determined that changing PEG1 - Max Link Speed from [Auto] to [Gen1] is the culprit. As long as I leave that setting on auto, I can change the other two settings as described above and gpu0 functions properly, but as soon as I change the PEG1 setting, gpu0 goes back to 4.xx mh/s and 300/300 on the dashboard.

To be clear, I didn't type all of this up because I expect someone to help me. To the contrary, this is a hobby to me, and I will work through it. However, it seems like the 300/300 problem has reared its ugly head multiple times without a decisive resolution of the underlying cause. I'm just hoping that the info I provided will help tytanick diagnose the problem.

okay  this is the same as the 4mh bug on windows 7 and windows 10.

so do you run this headless?

I have a monitor  with hdmi and dvi jacks.

try plugging the gear into a monitor.

especially the specific   gpu .

once you plug it in boot once  take a look  at what happens.

if that does not work.

the msi rx 470  with no bios flashing (truly a mistake for most miners to flash )

will run at
1050   core
1650   memory
 0       powerstage
80      temp
60      fan

did you flash bios?   if so good luck since bios flashing can cause a lot of issues

Ok, so changing to gen1 still didnt fixed the problem?
Personally on asrock i see this from time to time but reboot fixes it.
Anyway if you have this problem ober and over then may i ask you to write me a email to admin@simplemining.net
It will be easy to debug something that doest work all the time rather tan sometimes Smiley
Can you also put in core clock value 5 mem 0 and tell me if that will help? If you put such values then it will be used old script which sets only dpm state and not specific clocjs.
Tell me if it will fix 300 mhz problem
Anyway after that may i please to contact me?
Its also my hobby to fix things Smiley

After I changed  PEG1 - Max Link Speed from [Gen1] back to [Auto], while leaving the two below changes in place, everything is running fine with 5 GPUs:

PEG0 - Max Link Speed: change from [Auto] to [Gen1]
Above 4G Decoding: [Disabled] to [Enabled]

As such, I am currently running two more GPUs with these two changes than I could run at the beginning of the night. I am hopeful I will be able to run cards off of all 7 PCIe slots with these settings once I get the necessary hardware to do so. I will keep you posted.

The main reason I provided all of the information in my previous post was that I hoped it would assist you with debugging the 300/300 problem others are experiencing. Once I have the necessary hardware to try and run 7 GPUs, I will report back.

On the other hand, if changing the one troublesome BIOS setting back to what caused the problems and then making the changes you suggested in your post would help you with identifying a larger problem, please let me know. I will be happy to oblige.

I am running the stock BIOS on my cards, at least for now. I figured it would be best first to get as many cards running as possible in stock form before I go monkeying with the cards' BIOS. That way, it is easier to track down the source of any problems that may crop up. Once I get everything running, I may modifying the memory timing, but that's the extent of my planned modding.

try    -ethi 4  or -ethi 3  or -ethi 5

it you don't put in -ethi  at all

it sets it to -ethi 8  which may be too intense for the one card

you can go as low as -ethi 1 and as high as -ethi 16

I am at -ethi 12 see my command line

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -ewal 1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje.Simple2 -esm 3 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333  -allpools 1 -dbg -1  -ethi 12

Also try -etha 2, to force rig to use amd-gpu-pro drivers instead of generic drivers.

-etha   Ethereum algorithm mode for AMD cards. 0 - optimized for fast cards, 1 - optimized for slow cards, 2 - for gpu-pro Linux drivers. -1 - autodetect (default, automatically selects between 0 and 1).

Thanks for your output, i added "-etha 2 -ethi 5" to the config row and will check how it will perform this night.

Please post results.

Also how did you clock the gpus?
Lastly do you use stock bios or flash a bios?

Results with these 2 settings added are same - nothing changed.
I'm using Jukebox bios for RX 480 Saph Nitro+ , goes to stable 29,8 MH/s in windows (28.9 MH/s in smOS) with no undervolting.

BUT
 * I made another test, i installed windows 7 on another partition on same harddrive, so to be sure that same hardware is used for correct testing. *
Just to keep in mind that i'm using old motherboard for these 2 cards with only 1xPCI-e x16 and 1xPCI-e x1.

So results were:
I'm using the same driver under windows for all my rigs because its super stable with modded bioses , AMD 16.9.1.
When i installed the driver - miner is running stable with 29.8 with 1 card.
When i joined the 2nd card obviously with same driver - miner is showing that RAM on the graphic cards is 3GB each and not 8GB like it should be.
Well my concliusion is that this motherboard is splitting somehow the traffic between these 2 slots.
On windows miner is not starting at all, strange is that on smOS is working fine until GPU1 freeze.
So i'm pretty sure that for me its hardware problem with the PCI-e slots.

I'll leave it like it is for now.
Will test on another motherboard when i have a chance. Last uptime for the rig was 18 hours without restart.

Hey T - I think some DCR mining action is good since DCR now is going to the moon.

I use the Pascal sgminer build and let my R9 Nanos and RX480s do the rest....

-k decred  -I 21 -w 64 -g 2  -o stratum+tcp://decred.hk.nicehash.com:3354 -u <yourBTCaddress>.$rigName  -p x  --text-only

Btw, I just copied the Pascal intensity settings and its working fine.... anyone knows what is best settings for DCR on sgminer?

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Nothing matters really besides intensity - crank it untill hash stops rising.

Hi wolf.... -I 24?

any suggestions on -w and -g values ?

Hello guys, I have a question. While I am successful mining ETH or ZEC, I am totally unable to dual mine ETH + DCR. Probably is something very stupid I am missing in the options settings, but I am receiving constantly an error from the DCR pool:

“DCR: Job timeout, disconnect, retry in 20 sec...”

I am using the “claymore-eth v8.1” miner and I am introducing in the option lines settings like these:

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool eth.coinmine.pl:4000 -ewal myuser.myworker -epsw mypass -esm 2 -dpool stratum+tcp://dcr-us.coinmine.pl:2222 -dwal myuser.myworker -dpsw mypass -allpools 1 -mport -3333

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal MYWALLET -epsw x -dpool stratum+tcp://dcr-us.coinmine.pl:2222 -dwal myuser.myworker -dpsw mypass -mode 0 -dcoin dcr -allpools 1 -mport -3333

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal MYWALLET -epsw x -dpool dcr.suprnova.cc:2252 -dwal myuser.myworker -dpsw mypass -mode 0 -dcoin dcr -allpools 1 -mport -3333

Do you see something wrong that may explain it? :-(

Thank you, reelen. I tried to copy/paste your settings and pools only replacing my wallets and workers, and it is still not workin: I hash ETH, but DCR gives me "Job Timeout"... I have even tried Claymore's default wallets and pools and I still have the same problem:

This is so frustrating!  Huh Huh What am I doing wrong? Something related with my router or internet provider, perhaps?
