This thread has died out because of various incidents and I think it would be a good thing to start a new clean moderated version that would focus on the future of the project.
Good idea! As someone who is new to heat, I would not mind that. All coins attract comments that aren't helpful. I'd prefer a discussion of the coin, rather than hyping or so called "fudding". Moderated threads on BCT always look sketchy to me, because there's no public record of what the moderator is allowing and what they are deleting. Most projects with a lot of investors on BCT have unmoderated threads with 200+ pages filled with ~50% crap that no one bothers to go back and read through anyways. I like BCT as a free speech message board. People can go to slack or heat forum if they want moderated discussion: https://heatslack.herokuapp.com/http://heatledger.net/WARNING! DON'T JOIN THE SLACK IF YOU WANT FREESPEECH! IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH STAY ON BITCOINTALK! CRITICAL VOICES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SLACK OR THE HEAT FORUM!! SLACK = HEAT FORUM = FAKE NEWS Good point, Stewie. They are censoring people left and right. Take a look at how long this list is getting. List of people who have been banned from slack or heat forum: - StewieG

So, about creating a new wallet. Do i just need to chose a new, decently long, secret phrase and that's it? That's gonna be my wallet linked to my phrase forever / on other devices (i.e. doing the wallet backup requires me just to print the phrase).
How can i find out if my wallet is synched or not?

FINAL REMINDEROnly 3 days till C-CEX closes the refund process and multiplies all HEAT IOU there.
If you want to sell your HEAT IOU - sell it now. Current sell price is about 0.00010937.
If you are looking to buy some more HEAT - buy it from C-CEX now and they will multiply it by x1.5 in 3 days. For every 1 BTC spent on HEAT on C-CEX you will get 1.5 BTC worth of HEAT.
https://c-cex.com/?p=heat-btc
Regarding the multiplier on C-Cex, I don't believe this has been verified, unless you can provide a link to C-Cex making that statement.

Yes that all thats needed for now. The wallet wont be registered on the network until it has been included in a transaction. There are some improvements on the way to increase wallet security. As far as I know all wallets are lightwallets at the moment, so they should be synched almost instantly. You can run the server through the wallet, but it doesnt run the wallet of the local server. It might be possible to do but I dont know how. There are currently some network issues and an updated wallet should be out today. I would advise you to avoid making any major transfers until we have the new wallet.

All wallets are brainwallets, so you just have to invent a secure passphrase and it should lead to the same account every time. However, you must make a send transaction from the account in order to increase the security from 64 bits to 256 bits by attaching a public key to the account in the blockchain.

Thanks Stewie

C-cex never said that they will add a multiplier in the first place. Shady exchange... Best to be avoided at all costs if you ask me. Only 3 days till C-CEX closes the refund process and multiplies all HEAT IOU there.

DONTYour phrase will be hacked. Its virtually impossible to manually make a strong enough key that cant be brute forced. We are in the process of putting back the secret generator, it uses strong cryptographic truly random number generators, which you really need! If in a hurry there are websites that offer this same functionality, one i know of is the web wallet for fimk. In the 'advanced' part of the create account dialog (small link, located on the right bottom corner of that dialog) you can create strong secret keys. Fimk web wallet is here https://lompsa.com/#/start.

When someone brute-forces a password they tend to use a list of most common words and numbers and combinations of such. But unless your a whale don't think need to worry too much?...
