What if he's invited to join the new fork?

Then that's favoritism bullshit that I will not stand for.
I really need to know.  Were there a privileged few who got early access to forge alone on the main chain for several hours?  Not cool if true.

xD So great! Yeah Heat is not very cool, glad you recognized that! Those people that are privileged are the ones on the slack. They are making decissions in private and we are the idiots that have to follow them... And if you don't agree with them on the slack then they simply kick you out. Privileged miners, CCEX funds are kept by Heat team, which fork we have to follow gets also decided on the slack. This HEAT coin is the biggest ripoff I have ever seen. I already stopped forging a long time ago.FUCK HEAT!

Just because I'm pissed off about this does not mean I agree with you on anything.

But there are much better ways to handle this kind of 'early-access' testing.  It's not rocket science.  Hell, it's only blockchain science.

Here's what you do:
* Fork the main chain to a testnet
* Invite your privileged few to help you test it on the testnet.
* When testing is complete, discard the testnet chain!

IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT!  This 'privilege' bullshit is fucked up.  Don't do it again.

Hey man you don't need to agree with me and you are right, it is very simple to avoid privileged mining, that is why it is obvious that this is no mistake, no this is done on purpose! They try to fuck us wherever they can. Where is the promised buywall? Ah forget about it, my faith is gone. I don't even believe they will divide the ccex heat on the investors. Such ripoff man! Fuck that shit brah!

Final point:
* After tested to satisfaction (on the discarded testnet chain):
   * Simultaneous public release to everyone (including heatwallet.com and heatwallet download)
   * Coincident announcement on all major channels

You have to get this right in the future.  Early access to a privileged few is reprehensible.

So can we forge within the wallet now or have to wait for that to be updated as well?

Supernet is organisation behind Komodo and iguana, have many assets and interesting projects. Big holder of some other coins like Heat.

The "who" doesn't matter.  It's the "how" that does.

  • Developer creates a private 0.9.4 release
  • Developer gives this release to a few buddies (7 nodes other than heatwallet.com by my count prior to public release)
  • Developer and buddies create a fork and gain all rewards for several hours on their fucked up 0.9.4 chain
  • Nobody else can join that chain because software is not available
  • 0.9.4 is finally made public and forces everyone to the fucked up chain

This is not acceptable.  One of the most important jobs of a blockchain developer is to maintain fairness in blockchain rewards.  This is non-negotiable, and any blockchain developer that disagrees needs to find a new line of work.

For a developer to create a fork for him and his buddies and then force it as the main chain is totally messed up.  This belongs on a discarded testnet chain.

Don't do it again.

Finally got on board with 0.9.4. Can't wait for the wallet later tonight. Hopefully this put a stop to all the 'extra' effort had to be put in to keep on mining. Thou, with the generous reward, a little extra hasn't been that tough.

I see your point, what are the chances that it was a logistical problem? How long were they ninja mining?

Well, this is the second time Dennis has shown aloofness towards maintaining fair rewards, so go figure.
Maybe it wasn't thought out.  BUT IT NEEDS TO BE!!!  This shit gotta stop!

They were ninja mining for at least 3 hours, maybe more.

EDIT: Here's a refresher:
  • Clone the main chain to a testnet
  • Invite a few buddies to testnet.
  • When tested to satisfaction, discard the testnet chain!
  • Simultaneous public release to everyone (including heatwallet.com and heatwallet download)
  • Coincident announcement on all major channels

Is this a one-off release not following the industry standard of forking when the older release works until some block in the future? The 24 hours phase of deployment in the pre-announcement could have been justly interpreted as 24 hours to that future hardforking block, but the fork happened much quicker.
I hope this was a one-off event, it will start looking bad if this is repeated practice of forking HEAT in the future releases.

making completely no difference. the previous release was unstable.  everything with 0 infront of the verion number is alpha.

we understand: its alpha. all people understanding besides steeeewie and account clones like jack needles.

the blockrewards are on the mainnet, so there are people testing and forging the chain! its not out of fun.

For the record I would like to state that I stayed up late (past 24hour long day) to help get the HEAT chain back on track yesterday.

If you have been paying attention, HEAT has been forking and looping and at first it is most vulnerable to such things. The safest way to get a new fork solid is to generate enough blocks so other nodes will recognize it as the right chain. To do that an account with enough stake is needed.

A free for all start to forging could well have created another mess and that would hurt HEAT quite a bit in my opinion. At this point stable block generation is the primary thing that needs to be achieved.

Did SuperNET unfairly get a few thousand HEAT due to it having enough stake to be able to forge the new path? Maybe if there werent these technical issues like there needing to be a stable chain, I could agree with that. Even though that is not the case, I will just burn the rewards during the bootstrap period if that will make the trolling stop.

Cheers James. For the non-technical amongst us, is the HEAT chain good to go now?
