Dedicated scammers or trolls will still be able to spam out the required 25 posts. Newbies with something of interest to say will mainly be frustrated and may abandon the forums altogether. I don't see this as being a smart move.

edit: lol 50

I must say last week I was in your guy's shoes, but now that I have funds in my MtGox account, 24/7 trading is amazing.

please whitelist me.

i think these restrictions are exactly the right messurement against currently ongoing negative activities.

i'm relaitvely new to the bitcoin business but do already depend on the ablity to communicate among btc owners via forum and so on.
.

further more i think THIS (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=234122976602457) might be a good thing to support when trying to bring btc back to value, again.

thanks.

Why don't the markets do the correct and honest thing and close down on the weekends, doesnt make much since all the weekend does is drive the price down for that no one has to the cash in there accounts to buy. I know im waiting on 2k to buy but cant for my banks closed
The price sinking on the weekends is unfortunate (and frustrating) for those of us who don't have money in exchange accounts and see a great opportunity, but once we are trading I think it will be very nice to have 24/7 exchanges. It seems a lot of big trades are happening on the weekends, which means a lot of volatility. For people who are trading small amounts (<$1k) this means an opportunity to make a lot of money if played correctly.

Yep and it forces us low posters in timeout for that this board cant handle the trolls.  Just imagine if paypal was aloud that would make bitcoins so much more stable.  Anyone that doesn't think bitcoins will skyrocket monday is retarded.

Perhaps a large announcement box at the top of every page would be best? I've seen this done on other forums when global announcements are necessary, like for scheduled downtime and the like.

At least pm everyone who is affected to let them know. I just saw my options disappear without any reason.

In general this is a bad idea. Just ban the trolls, verify email addresses and mass delete the silly threads.

If the volatility doesn't decrease some soon I don't know that I'll feel 'safe' going to bed or even leaving the house while holding any BTCs. Could go to bed with the price at $15 and wake up to $10. Maybe much worse. Seeking $2-5 moves regularly right now in 5-10 minute spans.

I've done some good posts.  My favorite was the thread I started on the correlation between BTC/US price and Google Insight for Search (search trends for "bitcoin"): http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=11487.msg162328#msg162328

Wanna do a 1:1 trade tonight and next week I'll pay you 15% more? (for MtGox currency that is)

Btw, I think the guy who made the massive sell is freaking retarded, it was just 30 two or three days ago, and it'll be that high again some day soon, possibly Monday, but I don't see it rocketing that high.... (not an economist by any means though)

Ah, that makes sense! I already posted a few topics and such, so I was wondering what happened all of a sudden. A PM would have been nice.

Can you please whitelist me? I don't have many good posts because I just joined - bad timing with the troll problem, but I am obsessed with BitCoin and have a lot of thoughts about it. I'm trying to build an options trading system and want to stay in touch with the community.

I knew I had seen a link to this earlier. Did some searching and came up with it.

http://www.bitcoinforums.net/index.php

It's new, and seems pretty empty but everything has to start somewhere.

Yes, it seems that I will not be able to PM the individual till after a few more posts, but I understand what the restrictive measure is intended to counter act. I guess there is plenty of Time to post in "Newbs" a few more times, and If anyone is just dying to get a Quartz Crystal they can email me.
