Email me, <username>@gmail.com, if you're ok with Paypal, I realize there are risks involved, but if Google this is the name I use /everywhere/ I have no desire to screw my name up

This is a good move but it would have been nice to have been notified. Maybe an announcement at the top of every forum or something?

Agreed.  A sticky at the top of the active forums makes sense.

So, the admins just created a newbie getto?

Looks like I just missed the restrictions, having just reached 50 posts :/

I'm currently trying to resolve a transaction gone bad. Frankly, I got scammed and not being able to send personal messages is not helping, as I have no other way to contact this person other than this forum. Could I at least have the messaging ban be lifted?

Once again, I'm trying to resolve a transaction currently. Is there any way that I can have the messaging ban lifted?

Asking to be whitelisted when you only have a few posts doesn't really make sense, and is exactly the reason the post count restriction was instated...

Do threads have to be about Bitcoin related things or is it just an anything goes sub-forum like the off-topic forum?

Hmm.....

bank account I don't deal with mine often, is there a way for me to send money from my bank account to yours? (obviously checks work, but they need to be mailed and blah blah)

signed up, was able to send one message to a forum, log back in and can't seem to post anywhere except here

problem is i want to reply to a reply to my earlier post, but can't post in that board (marketplace - silk road)

surely i don't have to send 50 bull$h1t posts here, just to reply to some dude?

It does seem a little unfair to have been sporadically posting on the forum for a few weeks with no hitches and suddenly you're thrown into the newbie pool and assumed to be guilty.

I mean if he was going to troll wouldn't he have done it already?

I don't think it's right for the many noobs to have to suffer rather harsh consequences because of trolls. Today I have read many informative posts by members with less than 50 posts, tonight they have been silenced.

Well, seeing as I was scammed by someone else and have no other way to communicate with them, this is my only option. In fact, I only need to be whitelisted to PM one person.

If the volatility doesn't decrease some soon I don't know that I'll feel 'safe' going to bed or even leaving the house while holding any BTCs. Could go to bed with the price at $15 and wake up to $10. Maybe much worse. Seeking $2-5 moves regularly right now in 5-10 minute spans.
This is certainly true. I wouldn't leave my money in BTC for any amount of time if I wasn't actively watching the market, certainly not overnight. Last night it was just under $20 and I assumed things would rebound to around $30. Then I woke up and it was trading at <$15.

I understand the reaction to the trolls, but adding the restrictions was an over-reaction. Think about it, the trolls actually help Bitcoin, wasting their time propagating the meme. The dark news about Silk Road was the best thing to happen - any Bitcoin meme propagation is good for the system. This is a bottom-up phenomenon, let it go - this troll bullshit will go away soon anyway. I am building an options site - is anyone interested in helping out?

Perhaps a large announcement box at the top of every page would be best? I've seen this done on other forums when global announcements are necessary, like for scheduled downtime and the like.

Why would they do that?  That makes too much sense.  I had to find out from Reddit that I was restricted to this forum.  Was in the middle of talking to people on the Mining subforum, but guess I won't be finishing those conversations anytime soon.

I drink it up!
