It's kinda funny. I've noticed that since the limit has been implemented the quality of my posts has decreased substantially and the frequency of said posts has increased. This can't be a good thing for the quality of the community.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I'm free!!! See you on the other side guys. I hope to see more meaningful discussion now that there won't be hundreds of newbie posts asking which video card to buy to mine bitcoins
How do you upgrade your membership in the forums? you must have had already been friends with a mod and get whitelisted or post 50 times things that are deemed worthy to be uttered according to the mod that is currently on duty, right now i think that is atlas, so i would suggest doing a little research on him just to be safe, it would suck to get up to 49 and then say something that is disagreeable and have to start all the way back at 0 with a new account...

Yea, I think 50 is a bit much, 20 is a much more reasonable number....
Says the man with 21 posts. It's kinda funny. I've noticed that since the limit has been implemented the quality of my posts has decreased substantially and the frequency of said posts has increased. This can't be a good thing for the quality of the community.
This is only natural. To engage in meaningful discussion, you must now first engage in meaningless discussion. Any occasion to chime in is of priority now; before, you would speak when you felt it appropriate. Before this rule, I wouldn't engage in mindless banter or throwing in some funny posts or commenting on less-than significant aspects of a topic, but to get to the meat and potatoes of this forum, you gotta muddle through this shit.

Same here, when all you're focused on is getting to the useful forums, you're not thinking about wording each and every post tactfully/containing substance... I guess I should say BACK to the useful forums... again, I'm not trying to be too mean about it, because I realize the trolling problems were pretty bad...

Moderators, Please do not close useless NOOb threads.
These threads (which we have been graciously given) offer the only way we can increase our post count and hopefully, someday, be released from making such NOOb posts.
Thank you for understanding, Soades

It's interesting that they instituted this rule... especially when my well reasoned and lengthy posts directly preceded the most massive crash in bitcoin, ever.
It's interesting because any forum mod worth his goddamn salt can moderate a few ruffians here or there. However, when someone such as myself, with well written, lengthy, logical posts challenges the status quo (and by my estimations, successful in talking some sense into at least a few people), THEN they institute a ban...
It's interesting, because this was an obvious decision made out of fear, and derision - not necessity.
Thank you for proving your point.

See, if it was the 25 originally quoted, I'd be done now I'll admit my normal posting style is probably 50/50 useful stuff/useless funny stuff

This is a bit frustrating.
I am trying to get a friend of mine who runs a bricks-and-mortar business here in Sydney to start accepting Bitcoin for international reservations.
I am not that interested in the speculation on the bitcoin price either way - in the end my friend (if he accepts it) will just make a quote for a guest which will be good for day. They pay their bitcoins and its done.
Could I be whitelisted ?
Tim

Perhaps a single thread is in order for such posting.

This will just increase the amount of worthless posts into the newbies section, with people just posting enough crap to get past the 50 post barrier.

If you wish to speak with staff, please contact us directly. Thank you.
In addition, feel free to increase your post count but your posts must add value. If not, they will be removed and your forum access may eventually be revoked.

This policy would not prevent spam, since spammers are glad to post more than 50 posts...
and it would harm users usually silent but suddenly need to talk, (including me..)
what do you think?
This wisdom is strong in this one. Yeah, I'm gonna be sitting at the kiddie table for a long, long time. Oh well, food fight?

I don't feel like I'm ever going to get to 50 I know I'm running out of threads to even pretend to be constructive in... What you need is creativity and lateral thinking. Like that guy, with the ice. In that book of lateral thinking puzzles. I'm going to bed.

Uhhh, Only if we get it back in BTC credit when 50 is reached. I like this idea, and wouldn't mind it.

WTF? The only thing this is going to solve is to completely keep newbies from ever becoming anything but newbies. How many people are willing to post 50 freakin posts in a newby section so they can actually ask the real question they have? I don't see why you can't ask newbie questions in the newbie section.

PM's can be directed to appropriate moderators. Any deviation will result in post deletion and noob status increased. Thank you for your cooperation.
