Friendly Canuck here, upping the post count...

I do appreciate the effort to keep the trolls at bay. But it kind of sucks when I don't feel I have anything to add to most things in the newb section.

New Yank miner here. I'm traveling so I am just sort of testing the client and miners out on my laptop at present. Pulling about 23MH/s with the GPU and 12 or so from the CPU in it.
I didn't see this in any other threads, but does anyone else use the tails(tor live cd more or less) for saving their wallet "offline"? I also use that in a VM to browse "free bitcoin" sites so they can't infect my main OS.

Hi, I'm Robert Genito Smiley
I use the online names "rgenito" nearly everywhere, and "robertgenito" sometimes. I use my real name instead of hiding behind an alias. Google my name and you'll find me, along with only a few other's with the same name.

The cost of mediation increases transaction costs, limiting the
minimum practical transaction size and cutting off the possibility for small casual transactions

Just got into bitmining, have an Nvidia card I understand that AMD produces 3x as fast, I'm wondering what's the most cost effective AMD GPU around if anyone has a quick answer

it's more than 3x faster

Most efficient in al specs would be the amd 5850 BUT check these little beasts http://www.butterflylabs.com/order-form-bitforce-sc-jalapeno/

3.5 Gh/s for 150 Dollars.

Amd 5850 will give you an average of 360 mhash/s and usually costs like 130 Dollars.

Hello All,

I'm a Florida based attorney and privacy consultant.  I've been interested in digital cash issues since attending the first Financial Cryptography conference in Anguilla in 1997.  I'm considering accepting BTC for services and so I've joined the board to learn more about the market and economics of bitcoin.
