Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hello from Finland! I'm also looking some hardware to buy. Probably ASIC straight away or at least FPGA. I've been lurking here a few months now and I cannot wait to start mining!

Hey there, been a lurker for a while.

I'm an artist in London, but I'm a bit of an economics geek too, so really enjoy seeing the ripples that bitcoin is making. Tongue

Hello guys,

I am abhishek, a nobe with bitcoin.
i just found out about bitcoin a month ago and started searching about it and how it works.
it's a bit straight as how bitcoin economy itself works but it was a bit hard for me to grasp how i can just make bitcoins by mining them online by utilizing my spare old trol of pc and laptop that i just can;t let go and sell. but finally i came through enlightened with gpuminer's gui and made my first 0.002 bitcoin yesterday at 20M hash/s, hope i can increase my hashes and earn some more with spare computational units i have.

Cheers.

Hi!  Nice to meet you guys.  I am pretty new to bitcoin having only heard of it a couple of months ago, but I'm totally hooked!  I've bought some coins already and even made my first purchase with them yesterday Cheesy   I also placed an order with BFL for some SCs and hope to start mining before the end of the year, but the chances of that aren't very high from the threads I've read.  That's ok, I'll use the downtime to keep reading and learning.  I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions and thanks in advance for your patience.

Hi all,

I have been following bitcoin for a while and thought I would jump in on the next level of the nuclear arms race. (The new hardware from Butterfly labs.)

Folks running video cards and the like should be made irrelivant at that point and open things up for those willing to pay to get 1,000+ GH/sec. (2000 or 3000 would be better though.)

It would probably be better to just invest in Butterfly Labs... but mining will probably be more fun.

Heya,

I've been lurking around #bitcoin, #bitcoin-otc, and this forum for a couple months now, getting a lay of the land. I've started mining with my old nvidia gaming rig, needless to say its doing horrid. I'm looking at getting into the btc buying/selling game, as well as mining, and selling goods on the market category.

I'm currently waiting on money to be transfered from my paypal to a bank account so I can get my first coins because apparently PP sucks loggers chesthair.

Hi Everyone!

I am very very new - Just joined a couple of mins ago Smiley

I love the BTC currency, everything it stands for, it's brilliant, I hope things get bigger and bigger, and one day, it will be treated like every other accepted currency in the world!

Just getting to grips with things, and hope some of you kind members will be able to give me some pointers in the right direction!

Have a lovely day and week everybody!

Hey guy's my name is Joe. I have been mining bitcoins for quite some time now. Have a dedicated mining computer using 2x liquid cooled overclocked Radeon 6990's for mining (1025Mhz core / 1400Mhz Memory). Use externally mounted 2x 360mm Double thick rad with 12x 120mm high Static Pressure Noctua fans in push/pull to cool the water 2x Swiftech MPC655 Pump. To totally separate cooling loops for each card. Other than that it's a pretty basic Sandy Bridge machine tho the i5-2500k is slightly oc'd to 4Ghz just cause it's too easy and doesn't even make it get much hotter at all. I have mined slightly over 65 coins in my lifetime so far and I can't even tell ya how long it took but it was a lot of 24/7 constant mining (thanks mom for paying electric bill). One of the 6990's was bought off a friend who went to a single 7970 I got it for only 280 dollars so that's the only reason I have 2 of em and the reason I have 2 different loops, I got lucky. Dual cooling loop keeps cards incredibly cool for their high power usage. Low 60's on load.

I know you guys out their are using all this super computing and some thing called butterfly or whatever. I know just using liquid cooled 6990's is still really nothing compared to you hardcore miners but I'm trying. Hope to learn a lot more here. I want to keep earning coins for another year or so and hopefully by the time haswell ultra books come out I'll be able to cash out and get one especially if the price just keeps skyrocketing up and certain black market marketplaces don't ruin it for all of us (though they are probably the reason for the higher prices).

Hope to learn some tips on the best mining groups to join and how I can earn the most coins. Thanks guys.
