I had almost forgotten how terribly difficult it is to compile some random words when introducing ones self to other random word generators. After spending way too much time 'lurking' around here and finding my ever increasing frustration of not being able to join in on some of the more interesting conversations taking place here was too much to bear any longer I finally decided to hit that register button. Well, I'm a small town tech from nowheresville FL in the US. I've a wife, a young son, a few small cats and no fence.. What I lack in fancy degrees in such fields as 'global economics' and 'global opinions I made up but should convince the sway of a debate because I added an exclamatory twist to them', I more than make up for with curiousity. I look forward to participating more with this very intriquing community in the future.
A man who speaks a great many volumes more than he has read has said nothing at all. (me)

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

Hello, I am a new Bitcoin enthusiast from Portland, OR, US. I am in the computer services business and I will accept BTC for computer, network, and laser printer services and repairs in the Portland area. I work for a legitimate, liscensed and insured computer services company, so I can provide services on the side as an individual or I can operate as an agent of my company if the services are to be provided for a business that would prefer to use an established company with business insurance. Even better, I will provide a discount of %20 off of my normal hourly or flat rate for anyone paying in BTC. Anyone interested, please PM me here once I get whitelisted. May the Bitcoin smile upon us all today! roybert, a.k.a. blumpkinpie76

Hi
I am reasonable new to this whole bitcoin craze. But it looks like a system that can have a real future. It just needs some time to get the bugs worked out.
Some problems that I think should be solved:
-Wallets should be encrypted by default. (you would only need to decrypt them when sending bitcoins.) - Some kind of build-in escrow service into the protocol (else we need third parties again which is the same problem the current money system has) - easier to use (copy and pasting bitcoin addresses is fine for us techies but not for my mother)
I am sure you can come up with some examples of yourself.
But I am sure these problems will be solved in the future.

Hi all,
So I'm a full time hacker, part time musician, and like many of you have recently become obsessed with this Bitcoin thing. I have high hopes - it really feels like the dawn of a new era. In ten years time we will be looked on as pioneers...

Been reading through this intro thread for the first time and wanna say firstly - "I love ya's all!" Never done an intro here so figured I should. I only got into Bitcoin recently after reading about in on another forum. My curiosity was spiked immediately when I discovered this was not a centrally controlled currency and so got into reading all I could. The first article I read said something along the lines of - "this is how Bitcoin works, oh and you can mine for coins too if you like but thats only for the geeks.." and that immediately got my attention! Being a professional geek (employed full time in the IT field and have run my own computer business) I knew right there and then mining was going to be for me even though I had no clue how it worked Currently mining with 2 x 6950's but looking to expand in the near future. Have already made plans to move into larger accommodation to facilitate a few new rigs. Good luck to you all and welcome aboard! I'm sure this is going to be one hell of a ride, as its proven to be already.

1. (Encrypted wallets) I totally agree. 2. I don't understand you: An escrow service means nothing else than having a 3rd party involved. 3. A system like DNS would be of use here: mapping names (domains, email addresses or anything) to the addresses (IPs, here: bitcoin addresses). But this would remove a lot of the anonymity of the current system and create a further target for hacking attacks (MITM attack forging a 'DNS entry').

"So, I have this idea for a great movie. It's about two gnomes who find a bracelet of power, and they have to take it to the Burning Steppes and cast it into the Cauldron. They form the Brotherhood of the Bracelet. Along the way they're trailed by a murloc named Gottom, who's obsessed with the bracelet, and nine bracelet bogeymen. It could be a three-parter, called 'Ruler of the Bracelet'. The first part would be called 'The Brotherhood of the Bracelet', followed by 'A Couple of Towers', with the climactic ending called 'Hey, the King's Back!'"
- World of Warcraft /silly command
Incidentally, the best way to make sure newbies aren't pissed off by not being able to post in other threads might be to better publicize that they have to post here first. I was wondering all over the boards wondering why I couldn't post until I ran across this section.
