This is a request for feedback.

I was thinking of an elevator pitch that best describes Byteball and came up with two versions of the pitch:

#1 Imagine a global database that records who owns what, as well as all transfers of ownership.  The database is not controlled by any single entity, it is a common good.  Everyone can have a copy of the database and all the copies necessarily agree.  This is Byteball.

#2 Byteball is an environment that allows anyone to store value and transfer it to other users.  The environment is not controlled by any single entity, it is a common good that is open to everyone like the Internet; and the value can be anything from completely untraceable currency to bank deposits with regulatory constraints.

Which version better resonates with you?  Feel free to suggest a 3rd.

I would prefer version 2. It's less "technical" (no mention of terms like "database") and it's very clear in describing the core features of byteball.

Thanks for your feedback, seems like you are all unanimous that version 2 is better.  If you see ways to improve it, please throw in your ideas.  It should still be short and avoid jargon.  Maybe similarities with existing widely known things would help?

Interesting project, I have a few Iota that is devised for IoT and I knew it was matter of time before seeing an expanded adaptation of DAG suitable for human users.

I downloaded the Linux test client but it doesn't include a readme file and I can't understand how to start it or if other dependencies are needed. Any help?

Unpack the zip and run "Byteball test" (start it from terminal)

Thanks, it works and it took about 6h to sync. The wallet is good looking. Exploring the settings I saved the seed and created a spending password as I would do on the real network. I'm confused by the backup part, the instructions say that the seed isn't enough to recreate the account but you need other settings too but it doesn't say which ones or how to save them (I don't remember the exact phrase because it was deleted along the seed after I saved it).

maybe linux version is more efficent?
