I'm new to all the mining things, but how can you trust someone, who uses closed code, meaning, that noone knows whether or not the moment you run it on your PC it does not start sending all your data to foreign sources. Starting with your location, ip, IP camera, etc, and in the same time is asking for a percentage of your earingings in order to cover the abovementioned?

First off you should not mine with anything important on your pc.

I have macs for important info and I mine with diy pcs

Another (less safe) way is to restrict the particular program's access to all resources it doesn't require by using proper access permissions and software like Sandboxie.

You can achieve easy with and 480X over 200 H/s.

What you need? Not the 15.12 Driver Smiley A newer one. Runs stable for me.

And a custom MOD BIOS (I used them for ETH, also increase the ZCash Hashrate).
Power consumption ?
Because a good custom RX 480 8G are the same price that R9 Fury

If I remove the power limit and let the card go for 200W, they are hashing to 245-265 H/s depending of the cards
R9 Fury are also often better in others algo (32MH/s ETH + 800 SC at stock without powerlimit)

Fury cards are stupid power hungry though and most require 8 and six pin connectors
Wow ... "stupid power hungry", any data about your judgment ?
as I said, mine are doing 225-230 H/s with a 120W restriction (1.9 H/W)
If your RX 480 can achieve the 180 H/s it seems they do with 95W at wall (not on GPU-Z), then RX 480 and Fury will have the same efficiency. And even with that, I'll pick the Fury for the higher perf.

I don't know why people are bashing R9 Fury, they are really way cheaper now.
In my country a Custom RX480 8G and Sapphire R9 Fury Tri-X are sold the same price.

As you said, may the PCI-E connectors need can be an argument if your PSU don't have enough.
But IMHO, the power consumption of a Fury is not an argument to bash them

Youre kidding right ? the non nano Fury cards have a TDP of 300watts, the nanos have a TDP of 220 and will pull more than that amount when going full bore, I have some Nanos so i know how much actual watts they draw.  The 4X cards have a TDP of half that and use about half the amount of power of the furys, 14nm proccess will do that.

setting a limit on the sofware of 120W does not stop the card from drawing far more power when it is mining, check your wattmeter and your power bill for your REAL power draw.

http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-fury-x-specs-fiji/

a fury has a higer TDP than a 290x there is no way you will convince me a fury uses 120 watts to get 225 h/s when a 290 non X uses 200 watts to do 200 h/s

He is close...Mine use 155w at the wall for 225h/s
How is power/Solves for somewhere in the middle?  I think they can do like 280Sol?  What would power be for say 250-260.

I am having issues with my HD 7990 mining on v7.0  (basically 2x 7970's in one card)  The card works fine, when using only one of the cores, but when using both it crashes after a matter of seconds. When using just one or the other of the cores, it works without issue.  I have ruled out power and overheating issues. Research suggests it may have something to do with the drivers creating a crossfire bridge in the PCI bus, but I have not found much info on that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Claymore is a freakin' God. His miners just keep getting better and better!

As of 7.0

Powercolor R9 390 - 215 Sol/s

All my 380's - 105-110 Sol/s.

Only thing is on one of my rigs, having a weird issue with GPU utilization, not sure why, but no big deal. Thanks a lot, Claymore. Smiley

P.S., sometimes I do get an issue. "Miner thread hangs" and the miner needs to restart, especially on ethereum. Only happens on one rig, but it also happens with this Zcash miner as well. I was thinking maybe a memory module in one of my cards is going bad, but I really can't prove that one way or another... It does make mining ethereum impossible, but Zcash runs for a long time without crashing, so that's still okay for now I suppose.

Yep, 7950 can do something like 110-120 H/s I guess

Actually the 7950/280x is by far the best card for zcash. They cost $80 and can do 180 h/s easily constantly.

This is without mods. 110=120hash was like version 5 man. Need download version 7 for 180hash

Yep, it's true: 175-180 h/s. And no mods, only overclocking (1180/1500 for me).
BUT, there is a downfall:
ETH mining, v 7.3 - 845W from the wall on 4x280x
ZEC mining, v 7.0 - 915W!!!

How in the world are you getting 180 h/s on a 7950. I have 4 different 7950's and they average 125-145 sols/s. Stock bios

I have 40+ Fury (Air) and depending on the Manufacturer I am getting 225-235 h/s using as low as 110 watts at the wall.  The average is about 227 h/s and using 115 watts.

In addition my measurements are done by hooking up 1 card and mining and measuring at the wall and then hookinh up 2 and mining and measuring again.  I do it this way to account for any additional wattage used by the system when mining.

I can easily get them up to 245-255 using about 150-160 watts and when using 225+ I can push them to 270+ h/s.

All of this is done with a modified bios- obviously it is not using a simple Bios Editor.

I have rigs of 7 Fury doing almost 1600 h/s and pulling around 900 watts at the wall.

In regards to the comment about setting the power to 120, I agree it does nothing to change the actual power draw (other than make the GPU unstable)

How exactly are you getting those numbers?  How was it measured?  What adjustments were made to the BIOS?  I know it can be done but I also know the average miner doesn't know how to mod BIOS files well enough to do those mods.

Lastly, what exactly is "120w restriction"?

I'm new to all the mining things, but how can you trust someone, who uses closed code, meaning, that noone knows whether or not the moment you run it on your PC it does not start sending all your data to foreign sources. Starting with your location, ip, IP camera, etc, and in the same time is asking for a percentage of your earingings in order to cover the abovementioned?

First off you should not mine with anything important on your pc.

I have macs for important info and I mine with diy pcs

Another (less safe) way is to restrict the particular program's access to all resources it doesn't require by using proper access permissions and software like Sandboxie.

What I do is put the rig in a dedicated DMZ subnet with outbound access to internet, rigs can't access my local network. Also purpose build your rig with only minimal install and nothing else besides what you need to run the miners. You can go a step further and restrict outbound internet access to only the IP's your pools use, but that a pain to manage.

So I have 6 RX480 8GB reference cards and looking to get 4 more. Many options out now vs. launch when only reference cards were avail. Any good tips or suggestions on which flavor to get? See Newegg has a sale on the Sapphire flavor @ 239 and $15 rebate. recommendations appreciated for ETH mining.

I've done both ZEC and ETH on my 480's, but ETH is defiantly better on the 480's I think. I also have some 295x2 that do very well on ZEC so lets assume most of my mining will be ETH, then what flavor would you go with?
