I'm new to all the mining things, but how can you trust someone, who uses closed code, meaning, that noone knows whether or not the moment you run it on your PC it does not start sending all your data to foreign sources. Starting with your location, ip, IP camera, etc, and in the same time is asking for a percentage of your earingings in order to cover the abovementioned?

First off you should not mine with anything important on your pc.

I have macs for important info and I mine with diy pcs

Another (less safe) way is to restrict the particular program's access to all resources it doesn't require by using proper access permissions and software like Sandboxie.

What I do is put the rig in a dedicated DMZ subnet with outbound access to internet, rigs can't access my local network. Also purpose build your rig with only minimal install and nothing else besides what you need to run the miners. You can go a step further and restrict outbound internet access to only the IP's your pools use, but that a pain to manage.

All of this fear, over nothing. It's not malware. It's not sending your crypto transactions, porn and IP camera's to spooky china hackers...

You can achieve easy with and 480X over 200 H/s.

What you need? Not the 15.12 Driver Smiley A newer one. Runs stable for me.

And a custom MOD BIOS (I used them for ETH, also increase the ZCash Hashrate).
Power consumption ?
Because a good custom RX 480 8G are the same price that R9 Fury

If I remove the power limit and let the card go for 200W, they are hashing to 245-265 H/s depending of the cards
R9 Fury are also often better in others algo (32MH/s ETH + 800 SC at stock without powerlimit)

Fury cards are stupid power hungry though and most require 8 and six pin connectors
Wow ... "stupid power hungry", any data about your judgment ?
as I said, mine are doing 225-230 H/s with a 120W restriction (1.9 H/W)
If your RX 480 can achieve the 180 H/s it seems they do with 95W at wall (not on GPU-Z), then RX 480 and Fury will have the same efficiency. And even with that, I'll pick the Fury for the higher perf.

I don't know why people are bashing R9 Fury, they are really way cheaper now.
In my country a Custom RX480 8G and Sapphire R9 Fury Tri-X are sold the same price.

As you said, may the PCI-E connectors need can be an argument if your PSU don't have enough.
But IMHO, the power consumption of a Fury is not an argument to bash them

Youre kidding right ? the non nano Fury cards have a TDP of 300watts, the nanos have a TDP of 220 and will pull more than that amount when going full bore, I have some Nanos so i know how much actual watts they draw.  The 4X cards have a TDP of half that and use about half the amount of power of the furys, 14nm proccess will do that.

setting a limit on the sofware of 120W does not stop the card from drawing far more power when it is mining, check your wattmeter and your power bill for your REAL power draw.

http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-fury-x-specs-fiji/

a fury has a higer TDP than a 290x there is no way you will convince me a fury uses 120 watts to get 225 h/s when a 290 non X uses 200 watts to do 200 h/s

I have 40+ Fury (Air) and depending on the Manufacturer I am getting 225-235 h/s using as low as 110 watts at the wall.  The average is about 227 h/s and using 115 watts.

In addition my measurements are done by hooking up 1 card and mining and measuring at the wall and then hookinh up 2 and mining and measuring again.  I do it this way to account for any additional wattage used by the system when mining.

I can easily get them up to 245-255 using about 150-160 watts and when using 225+ I can push them to 270+ h/s.

All of this is done with a modified bios- obviously it is not using a simple Bios Editor.

In regards to the comment about setting the power to 120, I agree it does nothing to change the actual power draw (other than make the GPU unstable)
What are you saying about the power limit ?
Of course lowering the power limit decrease the power consumption ... And it is really stable.
I don't understand this part of your comment Smiley

But interrested to discussion about your modded bios, if you Will to share this Smiley

I have a rig with 6 x sapphire nitro+ oc rx 480 8gb cards and using a modded bios from eth I am getting:
- 1000h/s for about 910w at the wall
Can we get more h/s from this gpu and less power draw?

I have the exact same cards, 7 of them in 1 rig.
1050H/s 780 Watts at the wall.

You need to underclock and undervolt.

You have very bad ping times, have you tried the other nanopool urls ? (zec-us-west1.nanopool.org, zec-us-east1.nanopool.org, zec-eu2.nanopool.org, zec-eu1.nanopool.org) or port 16666 instead of 6666 ?

You are right. I am not bothered to switch to ZEC from ETH. I did that a few times before, had to switch back soon.

Thanks for your work, I am very satisfied with the performance.

Is possible add change of pool without restart the miner? In restart there are times that one o two GPUs won't restart correctly.

Thank you very much
