optiminer-zcash-1.6.0 is 15% faster on Pitcairn.

Claymore?

I've tried it and get 240 on my rx480 ad opposed to 280 and 3 (yes three) on my 7950 as opposed to 270
Tahiti and Hawaii faster on optminer. ~10-15%

I'll try it tonight. My 290x mod as 390x does 330 under claymore

lol guys.  GPU mining is never dead.  "There is always a coin to mine".  Anyways, yes optiminer is much faster now with v 1.6.0 for R9 models and 280x.  I get 385-400 for 390, 220-230 for 380 and 300 for 280x.  OF course your results will vary depending on what clocks you are running, etc.  But so far it runs good.  Which is why I can't wait to see what claymore has...maybe he delays the new version to be sure of beating those numbers, who knows lol.

Personally, I'm not sure optiminer's v1.6 can be beat, because I think it probably represents the best that can be achieved with current (I don't mean new) GPUs. So, while Claymore will likely match optiminer v1.6 in the near future, I'm not so sure he can surpass it.

Really strange, I've got a 390 that isn't being detected by the miner, it's fine in afterburner, and i'm sure I removed the -di flag just to be sure, restarts, re-sat my gpu, etc. nothing. And, this is a new problem, it was running v11.1 fine since it came out, save for a few freeze-up overnight usually within a half hour of starting.

I rather they not try to beat these numbers anymore and work on better efficiency.  Right now all we're doing is killing the GPU by working them too hard and since everyone's hash rate increase, we're not truly gaining anything as difficulty moves up with it.  This is only increasing our power and cooling cost, heat and faster death for GPUs.  I'm starting to see more and more of my rigs with at least 1 GPU doing 0 hash as they're starting to choke.

your card choke because power supply is not up to the job nothing to do with miner, for us windows miners we are a long way behind Linux speeds and Optiminer is faster which makes your argument mute, looking forwards to Claymore releasing something soon

It may depend on particular card. I do not see that high difference.
In my case Tahiti with opti is exactly the same speed 260 (R9 280), Pitcairn is slightly faster 184 vs 178 (R7 370) and Hawaii also a bit faster 385 vs 360 (R9 290).
Nice about opti is that it has slightly lower power usage and no so sharp and high power spikes.

I think there's room for more improvement on Hawaii, but for R9 and Rx cards (with 4 memory controllers) Optiminer is close to the limit.

For some it is a hobby, for me it's a job. I spend most of my time on the computer, check the status of farms and trades. There was always a sense that it is about to end, but always it all began again, and believe me, perseverance and faith brings success.

I would take it that Claymore is having difficulty getting to the current performance of Optiminer v1.6, and he doesn't want to release an update until he achieves that. Folks that are waiting around for Claymore to measurably exceed Opti v1.6 are dreaming. Miner optimization doesn't just go on achieving improvements forever; at some point you've gotten as much as you're going to get. I think that point has arrived, for the most part.
