Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ? I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.
Sad to know and sad to say we couldn't do anything about it since people use bitcoin on a negative way and same as you Im really hurt why bitcoin is being used on those bad things and it could definitely affect the total image of bitcoin into people.We cant really avoid that there are really people would use it because of its anonymity feature and people see it as an advantage to make even more money without exposing their identity. |

and that's why they prefer bitcoin over fiat, they can gamble with bitcoin anonymously, they can pay for a porn subscription with bitcoin conveniently and anonymously and they can deal with illegal activities anonymously such buying/selling drugs for bitcoin . that's the reality we can't do anything about and we can't let them stop on doing the said activities they can even do it with fiat so why not with bitcoin it's their choice and i think all you can do is to not be the same with these people and be responsible on using your coin . |

Bitcoin is a multifunctional tool which means that it's up to the people to decide how they want to use Bitcoin. That's the freedom Bitcoin gives us.
If people are looking to buy drugs with Bitcoin, then it's their choice. If they want to use it to gamble or do whatever else with it, then again it's their choice.
You shouldn't spend too much attention on what people are using Bitcoin for. Bitcoin is money, so it's not that difficult to figure out that it's being used for wrong purposes as well.

actually bitcoin is widely used on exchanges not any place else because if you do a research by asking 1000 people how they are using bitcoin they are going to tell you that they are trading it only. actually there was a POLL in this board which you can find asking this question. |

Unfortunately bitcoin is still a sort of underground currency. People are free to use their money for whatever they like. If they like porn,gambling and grugs that`s their problem.They will use either bitcoin or fiat money to buy this. |

I didn't saw that drug market here, can you be more specific and show it too me, I would like to see that and check out the prices. Bitcoin is not made for that, currency is when you use it to pay for everything, not just good things. Society is already unhealthy, and bitcoin has nothing with that. Fiat didn't help all this years. |

Well, for a lot of third world countries, their currency is weaker than bitcoin, so earning bitcoin is really profitable and could help them fulfilling their daily needs
Also, Bitcoin price is increasing from time to time, so it's great for someone who wants to invest their money for something profitable.
And, the anonymity of bitcoin is better than fiat, so if you want to gamble or buying some kinky stuff , you could use bitcoin rather than using banks since your transaction would be reviewed there.

See just like any other currency is also used for illegal activities, Bitcoin is also used for illegal activities. Bitcoin is not an exemption for such acts. It cannot be prevented from using for such causes, unless the user himself avoids such activities. Otherwise, Bitcoin is such a nice innovative currency.

One thing, because bitcoin can be use in many ways compare to fiat that can only be use in limited ways. Also bitcoin have more benefits than fiat, bitcoin is faster and convenient rather than using fiat online when buying stuffs and so on. Bitcoin is more valuable than fiat too, because its price is always fluctuating, right now, its price is fluctuating from lower to higher.

Actually no it's not been widely used even for purposes like those things you have been mentioned. We are just here roaming in bitcoin world almost everyday that's why we think that bitcoin is really widely use or being preferred by others. Illegal activities are really part of every assets like fiats, gold and even bitcoin since they have money value so expect usage of it on that kind of activities. And disagree at the last part since whatever negative usage of bitcoin is present today , it will not lead people to discontinue used this currency since they will see the big advantage of using this currency if they are open in all branches of how bitcoin is being used. |

Local laws need be respected. Some countries have heavy punishment in Penal Code for visiting Adult Sites. |

no , those is just few not responsible person .. but in my opinion many users bitcoin use bitcoin for positive thing like transaction with bitcoin , get money from bitcoin and fill free time with bitcoin one thing i very like from bitcoin , if i go to overseas . i do not need to change currency |

What do you mean? that bitcoin is being used in illegal activities? or in things that they cannot bought on broad day light? If I where you I won't believe most of the replies on the threads... I rarely see forumite that replies to a topic that looks like a real experience... Most of them are purely "imagination" by many signature campaign participants, and some of them are just an "opinion" , and only few of them are first hand experience, some are just read from other comments repeatedly being copied and replied to the same thread over and over again... What do you expect in a forum? most of us don't know each other, so fabricating a story or a comment is so easy... Besides, nothing prohibits anyone from spending bitcoin on the things they want... |

The reasons could be different. Some people don't want to do business with banks so with using bitcoins they avoid that. Or they are trying to be anonimous so they use Bitcoin transactions instead of fiat. Or they are buying illegal stuff on darkweb markets so they can't pay in fiat. Maybe they have more earnings in Bitcoin then in fiat money. Everyone has its own reasons.

I use it for transferring money internationally and Im sure lots of people use Bitcoins for the same purpose. The fee is very low and the transaction is quick. The person I'm going to send the money to sees the money into his wallet instantly and has to just wait for the conformation from the blockchain/miners. I also use it to buy things out of this forum's market and it makes it very easy to do so.

I would imagine most people use it for this very reason. But it has had it's introduction to the world in bad light with the silk road thing and people using it for ransom ware payments now. So it's shadow will never be able to be lifted because of these sort of people who continually use it for bad instead of shining it in a good light using it to improve the world and not distort it any further than it already is. |

its really true that bitclin is being used for many bad things but lets first look on the possitive sides those are the first ways which started acceppting bitcoin as a payment and the most important stuffs which we need they still not accepts it. its like a headach when will the good side of the world understands it ans start using it so that we can take all the nessasary requirements from here
