Bitcoin is a digital currency like other currencies, if people can spend their dollars in gambling, porn sites and drugs dealing then why they can't use their bitcoins after all it is also a currency.

Because users choose bitcoin as an investment instead of as their currency. Of course they would prefer fiat as their currency because it is easier to use and accept wherever, bitcoin is preferred because the profitable bitcoin investment and fiat can not do that Ideally, it should be used for both the purposes. It should be used as an investment asset, and also as a mode of payment. But Bitcoin is becoming unsuitable for making payments these days, because of the long confirmation duration and high transaction fees. If the tx fee is higher than the one charged by VISA/MASTER, then why should anyone use BTC to make a payment? |

I agree with you, I do not like such abuse. Hopefully it is not prolonged. In general, people prefer bitcoin to one of them because Bitcoin does not have an intermediary that controls it, there is more freedom to transact. With traditional currency, funds can be frozen or seized by intermediaries (such as PayPal, bank, or credit card company) or by the government. Intermediaries can also prohibit transactions for goods or services they want. If the intermediary decides they do not want to let you make certain transactions, they can stop them. Company payments like PayPal have been reported to have prohibited transactions involving sexual content. If you own a porn company or adult toy business, you may not be able to use PayPal. While in bitcoin there is not yet such prohibition.

I think that people prefer Bitcoin over fiat because its value is higher than any currency. And also if a country experiences an economic crisis, its currency's value will depreciate faster unlike bitcoin which I think will not be affected by an economic crisis. With traditional currency, funds can be frozen or seized by an intermediary or by the government. They may also prohibit transactions for goods or services as they desire. Another thing is that bitcoin is undestructible and is easy to carry because it is electronic. Imagine when you do your laundry and forgot to check the pockets of your pants only to find out later that you have cash in it. That is devastating, right? Lastly, it is hard to apply for a savings account in banks. Lots of paperworks and you need not just one but set of IDs issued by the government. Wherein in bitcoin, there's lesser requirements and no paperworks and forms to fill out.

In my opinion, Because of the increasing price of bitcoin, Some people bank bitcoin for future purposes. But for me its balance or depend on my current financial needs. Like example in this forum BTC is the primary payments for your online jobs so the payments i received is stored in my wallet, But in case I need some money. I will withdraw it in fiat currency.

I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.
Bitcoin currency is free to use for every one either for good or for bad.Just like internet,no one could control it.In earlier times,bitcoin was mostly used for illegal activities like buying drugs,etc.But nowadays,bitcoin has investors globally and it is used for all purposes.People indulging in illegal activities have shifted their attention to fully anonymous coins like monero,Zcash. |

More importantly, the whole country is limited by things like the stock exchange, Mutual Funds, etc. I know a friend who is underage and already making good money in bitcoin, that will only prove that bitcoin can make things possible when it comes to investment. What we can earn now will surely be more valuable in the future but we all end up exchanging it to fiat. I think the future, local exchanges will more strict and we will be having a hard time to cash out if we are minors. |

Some people prefer bitcoin over fiat because it's a much better choice if you don't want to end up holding money that doesn't have a value. Just like what happened in Zimbabwe, the same thing might happen to you too. Actually, if you don't like bitcoins at all and you're doubtful about its future, then use dollar instead. Anytime you can convert dollars to your local currency by going to the mall and looking for a currency exchanger. Sure you can't pay with dollars directly but I think that's a small price to pay for saving yourself from the never-ending inflation of fiat.
Bitcoin can do the same thing but the future of bitcoin is rather uncertain. It's not backed by anything. The whole thing is a bubble. It's all about trust but bitcoin is still a risky investment if you ask me. Just like today, the price went below 2000$ and that's such a terrifying for people who bought bitcoins above that price.

The creator invented bitcoin to deliver a decentralized system, that's all and the way it is used will always depend on us, we can use it for illegal activities and we will have to pay the penalties in the event we will be caught. Do not believe that transactions cannot be trace because government are already making a law to regulate bitcoin to still maintain the law and order and fighting the money laundering which some people think could be rampant using this technology. |

I think that's because of the need to use bitcoin, bitcoin to fall into the wrong hands, it will be used for bad purposes, we should not be dumped for bitcoin as it is only a dependent currency user. |
