People will preferred to use bitcoin over fiat because bitcoin has the very big potential to grow with in a month not unlike in fiat even you had a big deposit in banks when they give you 2% of interest and having income to it then people will see the difference once they hold or save their bitcoin it will grow automaticaly once the price will grow however if they took the chance to trade and buy another alternative coins they the more the bigger you will get the profit.

Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ? I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.
I think that was not the reason why bitcoin was made and established. Because what you have stated are some of the various ways people tend to spend their bitcoin earnings and must not be connected to the reason why bitcoin was established. In fact, bitcoin was made to upgrade our real money into a virtual one to get along with the rise of the technology. It depends upon the people especially the user on how responsible he is on using his bitcoin earnings. |

Yes they are the wrong group of people using bitcoin. If bitcoin is already used to buy drugs there may be a rule that will be issued to prohibit the use of bitcoin throughout the country. If that happens then it is certain that bitcoin will lead to death. |

Maybe not yet faster and cheaper, but definitely safer. And more than that: permissionless, borderless and censorship resistant. |

It's a digital commodity and has nothing to do with currency so why would you be comparing it to a currency. It is legally considered a digital commodity as US law passed it in court. Bitcoin is yet to established as a world wide acceptable legal currency.

As far as OP is concern, You're right bitcoins are not made for such thing like porn or scam sites. It should not allowed on internet. But there's nothing in our hand. Everyone have rights on bitcoins but most of peoples use it as fiat. I am worried about it. If things keep going like this bitcoin will go down if we hear all negative news like hacker uses bitcoin to get ransom for their hack attack etc.

Bitcoin guarantees anonymity and 24/7 accessibility and that is what outweighs fiat by my standards. It's not globally known yet but when Bitcoin is fully integrated in to our society I think people will easily forget fiat existed. |

First of all, the laws formulated in the courts of US are applicable within the boundaries of US only. Secondly, bitcoin is a currency but in digital form. Some people prefer bitcoin over fiat because on some places bitcoin is tax free. I guess it's not bad to use bitcoin for something as long as you're not breaking any law/rules from your place. There's much more misuses of btc but if we continue this discussion it's getting kinda off topic when the title is about bitcoin and fiat.
Actually, bitcoin is absolutely tax free and they prefer to use it because you may use it in different kind of transaction even it is on online or offline store. In addition to that, they know that bitcoin has a high value in market and every time the price of bitcoin goes up while the price of fiat is stable. Nothing in the world is tax free, governments tax everything and if something in a country is tax free is because a government has decided to not charge tax yet to an activity, as bitcoin becomes bigger you will begin to see an increase in the regulations to exchanges, this is already happening, and an increase in the regulations to people that want to buy and sell bitcoins through other means. |

I think there is a place for both BTC and fiat currency. As unpopular as it might be with some people fiat currency can have balancing and wealth distribution effects that are not really built into BTC, this comes about via floating exchange rates and devaluations mostly. Similarly BTC has qualities that are not available in fiat such as universal value.
Both have there place, not either or.

And if you are asking the banks why people prefer to use fiat instead of bitcoin, you'll hear different degrading words from them. Bitcoin is an online investment that is why we are using bitcoin more often than fiat because when you have a lot of fiat then you cannot grow it everyday because it has a fixed value while if you have a lot of bitcoins then you can earn more money because its price is volatile and it can go up to 10% in just a day which is a great gain for an investment in terms of short term. |

I think people prefer to earn a lot of btc becuase they know that the value of bitcoin is still increasing month by month or day by day so many people invest here or hold becuase they want to get a lot of profit. |
