I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ?
Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.

I wouldn't call it a misuse of the currency. Even fiat can be used for such illicit activities(based on your jurisdiction) but Bitcoin is used widely for it because of the properties that it has. It is inevitable for some users to use it for such things.

It is true that even in fiat people can do illegal things or under the law. So for me it is no the main reason why people prefer using Bitcoin. For me, Bitcoin is a form of crypto-currency which is quite aligned to the development of the technology. And when we say technology it also means innovation and progress in transaction. Bitcoin truly does give people a more faster way and reliable way of transaction in a daily basis or even in business.

I think we can not do anything about it as black world always have back doors from where illegal use of any type of currency, valuable stuff or anything with priceless tag is misused and not taken care of.


Just look at the fiat currency such bad use is done with it but no one is able to do anything. Thats the way it is. Indeed it hurts about bitcoin being used in that way.

That is the fact that if a criminal will willing for any bad activity then he will do it with any currency he will have and for that we cannot blame bitcoin. If they will find cash then they will also use cash. They can do the transaction anonymously when they will pay hand by hand. So bitcoin is not blamed but we need to improve our society.

What makes people prefer Bitcoin is because of the profit they get. They believe that Bitcoin will make them rich. For example, when you keep $1 as Fiat, it remains $1 without any change. But try putting that $1 into Bitcoin, and within few months, or even days, it will reach $5.

Well, to me is not a misuse because every currency is meant to be spent on either products or services. How one spent his or her bitcoin or money should not be your problem perhaps, Bitcoin is meant to be spend on either products or services.

For me to this day the best use of Bitcoin, in the sens that no solution in the whole world can compete with it or be at the same level, is gambling. Imagine you're burried in debt, you have money problems, you're bank is closely watching your accounts... The only solution to be able to gamble safely is to use Bitcoin. Absolutely, many of us will of course choose bitcoin. Though there are instances that bitcoin drops but let's think of the positive sides that caters most of the time. We all know that fiat can be also exchanged into real cash through bitcoin but technically it is bitcoin's edge where many of us gain profits. You are right mate. Before, I just think of bitcoin as something kind of passive but to these days, I already see it seriously and with respect because I earn a lot already and have even convert most of my bitcoins into cash which was spent on something worth of the money. Although I earned quite ok with fiat money, but having additional earnings through bitcoin brings awesomeness

Bitcoin was meant as a decentralized digital currency. The adoption of bitcoin has to start somewhere right? look at VR, the porn industry was one of the first to adopt that as well

That's what they don't understand. You see Bicoin was first used only in the Deep Web since it is the only cryptocurrency that can be used there. And besides its decentralized as you've said, so its up to us to use it in every way we wanted.

Other people are thankful having bitcoin and working hard to earn it, but other people are just wasting it but on the second thought, it’s they’re money so that it’s their right to spend their money whatever they want.  I think they will realize the importance of bitcoin when they need it on a serious matter.

I agree with that, it can lead to unhealthy society. The misuse of bitcoin is really not good. Bitcoin is prefered by many over flat because of its volaitility. It has various advantages over flat which is the main reasons why it is being widely used. First is it doesn't collect taxes from any transaction you make and it is also saves more time. That is why some individuals take advantage of bitcoin for crime transactions like drugs. We can't monitor a drug deal with bitcoin because it is more complicated and can be easily used to disguise a deal. Yes it hurts that misuse of bitcoin happens but that is beyond our control to decide and resolve.

Regular currencies sometimes requires credit card along with third parties such as banks in order for you to save and use you money. In Bitcoin you can use it as you want including negative ways, because it is decentralized. It has also less charges compared to fiat in transactions and tradings.

If we do extract their differences between a decentralized and a centralized thing we would really go for sure on the things that no one who has control but only ourselves. This is really the advantage on using bitcoin because we do have the full control of our money without the awareness of other people.It may though have the risk on losing money but im sure it wont happen as of now because price of bitcoin tends to go up still as the years goes by.

I agree with most of your statement. I think that Bitcoin was not purposely made to accommodate things such as these. It was created for direct peer to peer transactions, erasing the middlemen. But once Bitcoin was out there, it was left to men on how to use it. We have used and manipulated Bitcoin to fit our purposes because of the advantages it has provided us. We used these advantages because well, they’re advantages. They’re the ones that makes people wants to use Bitcoin. So is it really misuse when we use Bitcoin’s offered advantages?

That's why they choose bitcoin and misuse can't be avoided. Some people do not want to be tracked when transacting. For example buying goods / commodities online where they ask you to enter your confidential or credit card information that is too risky

I prefer bitcoin as an investment because its value can rise very high. And I prefer fiat as payment method because its value mostly will remain stable. They are two different things and have their own goals.

Some of them believes that Bitcoin is the new/future money or currency (whatever). Some believes that Bitcoin can make them rich, no matter what, and that’s true. Although I need fiat, I will prefer to save money in Bitcoin as of now, because it’s volatility form is on the positive side.

Yes, unfortunately this is the downside of Bitcoin and it hurts many of us in the Bitcoin community. On the one hand, the decentralization aspect is a blessing and protects our privacy. On the other hand, it enables people to use Bitcoin for this kind of transactions. So in reality it's a mixed blessing and this controversy will exist for as long as Bitcoin does.
As for society - it does not become more or less unhealthy because of Bitcoin. If people have the disposition to buy drugs, gamble and enjoy porn, they would find a way to do it even if Bitcoin didn't exist.
