Wow, big blockers got a big dose of butthurt today.. lol

Lets see how the markets react now, but releasing this announcement few days before the fork smells weird...

A few days _after_ would have been weirder

So now Bitcoin is stuck with 1mb forever.

The Lies and Censorship crew have won.

Meanwhile, Lightning Network is at-least "18 months" away from being deployed.

Are you guys ready for $100+ fees?

This is the "settlement layer" you wanted. Forget Satoshi's Bitcoin, now BTC is a store of value only coin. Who cares about commerce or competing with banks or actually trying to change the world, right?

Will you bigblocktards keep whining and bullshitting here for ever? Just do your shitforkcoin things and show them to the world.
Ah: BTC is 1MBFOREVA

It sounds like you must Enjoy  paying $100+ to move your coins off an exchange.

Tell your grandma to buy Bitcoin, it's a great investment. I'm sure she will love the part where she has to calculate a priority fee to pay based on the size of her transaction.

For everything else, there's Bitcoin Cash.

We still do need higher transaction capacity. The only question is how.

DOGE has 10x capacity by having a 1m block time instead of 10, if there was a way to reduce the reward by 10x and decrease the time to 1m that would work - or am I wrong =)

Yeah, because the thousands of people who have disconnected themselves from the banks and from FIAT don't exist.

Legacy Bitcoin has been taken over by corporate interests that want to prevent BTC from scaling, thus removing competition and ensuring their monopolies will continue uncontested. No one is going to want to pay $20, 30, 40, 50$+ fees to make a payment or just to move coins. Thus, Legacy Bitcoin has truly become a Banking Settlement Layer - with fees comparable to a bank wire, and confirmation times comparable to a bank wire. This is Bitcoin now. Enjoy it. It's what you wanted.

maybe this will do it

http://www.rsk.co/

Ginger is the public release of the open source Testnet Network. Powered by Bitcoin, the most secure distributed network in the world, users will be able to run their smart contracts in a platform that can scale up to 2.000 tx/sec on chain and 20.000 tx/sec off chain, providing the scalability needed for global financial solutions.

So... SW2X futures? Are going to zero, because, it's not going to launch. What about all the traders who already cashed out ... The ones left behind rekt?

"Grandma" just gave her verdict I think. She'd rather pay a $100 transaction fee than take a million dollar capital loss because her store of value got f*d with at the protocol level.

Now you need to stop and the other Alt-coins of the money need to slide. This is what seems to be right now, but let's see how long it will take.

Yes, but that would also lower the required processing power for hostile mining action to a tenth. Also concerns with orphaned blocks and etc which is over my head.

Well would you look at that, Bitcoin is dropping while Alts are once again skyrocketing in value.

If Bitcoin can't scale and can't be used for everyday transactions, then this also diminishes its usefulness as a store of value. Bitcoin becomes primarily an instrument for rich speculators, and little else. Other coins will be used for actual commerce and day to day transactions.

Are you all happy now?
