I almost didn't want to respond to this but... well...  No.

First, he never said that. Second, it was not 64k, but 640 Ki. Lastly, have you ever looked at the architecture of an 8088? It weren't no 6800. 1 MiB was the limit before resorting to silly paging techniques like those required on an 8051 or somesuch. Some area needed to be set aside for drivers, HW, and OS. High memory was chosen for that - less than half. Sure, in retrospect we probably would have done it different. But I'm guessing ol' Bill never dreamed that the crude CP/M boot loader and disk reader that he bought would form the foundation for the bulk of computing for decades to come.

I find it interesting that the story about craig wright being satoshi has resurfaced again.
Not only in this thread, but I saw a few more topics on the forum today. I am not a veteran in the crypto space like most of you are, so I do not know if this has happened many times before. But I have noticed that certain news stories(if you can call them news) get recycled every once in a while. Which has an impact on newer people in crypto. Perhaps creating uncertainty or doubt?

Oh the horror! Law enforcement will actually have to do its job again rather than just choking off the money supply and/or convicting violent criminals of money laundering instead of their actual crimes.

Also Bill was wrong about spam and Apple/IOS.  So Bill needs to do some homework on cryptocurrencies.

Most of these addresses actually have only one thing in common, which is a big clue to why they're in the list: they at some point held significant amounts of bitcoin in them.

This isn't some grand conspiracy of having stolen a million bitcoins, it's some guy browsing a "blockchain rich list", picking out a couple of addresses at random and saying "I own those" for whatever reasons, while offering no evidence except for some clumsy document backdating. These claims would never have gotten past an actual specialist.

While the lawsuit is a nonsensical fight over unrelated funds that never belonged to either party, it offers the rest of us a valuable reminder of how you'll easily get taken advantage of if you don't follow the #1 rule of Bitcoin:
Don't trust. Verify.
Put simply, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Fortunately, thanks to Bitcoin, that's now as easy as a single cryptographic signature.

He keeps changing his mind about it. In January Microsoft removed its Bitcoin’ payment option, then quickly restored it.

8088... no, never touched one. But I do have a secondhand idea of how an 80x86 works - and I think 286 and 386 (full 32 bit addressing possible) were current at the time he is reported to have said that (late 80's/early '90s). Advanced users were forced to use memory extender add-ons. The memory model concept was an ugly kludge, even if the quote is a fake.

Sure, in retrospect we probably would have done it different. But I'm guessing ol' Bill never dreamed that the crude CP/M boot loader and disk reader that he bought would form the foundation for the bulk of computing for decades to come.

By that time, he knew already. Hence his dream of conquering the world with the Microsoft Network.
