I haven't even bothered to read the source because I call bullshit without doubt. Is the sampling criteria detailed?

I am mostly sure that, if they really did any sampling it was completely biased. Ie: what would happen if I decide to ask users of reddit... would that be a good criteria to extrapolate to the total population? Of course not. What if I decided to ask Bitcointalk users? ......

Something is very, very wrong, in the sampling methodology... if there is any at all!

That said, the interesting data one could try to extrapolate is that, from that sampling, there is the same amount of people that already have Bitcoin than there are decided to buy some this year (equally biased 8% vs 8%). But even that I would take it with a giant grain of salt.

I know quite a few business clients that come into my work, they are mostly middle aged or older.  none of them have a clue about crypto.
I know someone in their early 30s who manages peoples wealth.  Ive been told his book is worth 800 million CAD.  None of that is in crypto and he would not advise them to invest in it either.
I believe adoption is much lower, maybe 2-3% who actually understand, purchase, secure and follow crypto.

I’m never going to be able to buy coffee with shitposts.
You can if we add lightning payments to the trollbox !
I don’t think you have really thought through the consequences of what you are suggesting.

You are probably right.

All I'm suggesting is if someone makes a truly amusing comment or something in the trollbox, fuck sMerit, send him a cheap BTC micropayment for the funny, via LN.

I'm sure the backend setup would be a bit of a nightmare, and getting users onto the network and get channels funded would take some time, but being forward-looking, I bet we see something like this roll out in the next year. Not here, but elsewhere. Maybe.

That, sir, would be a perfect use case for LN initial testing and deployment on scale.

I was more worried about coming home, smelling smoke and finding charred troll and shitposts all over the ceiling.

My Auditor for my government regulated investment fund advised me 3 years ago and every year since to invest in other options besides crypto.

I just keep laughing

He has suggested the fund runs at a high risk and should be under further review, yet I have x10 on my initial investment

There are also lottery winners with x100000000 on their initial investment. What fools everyone are on not buying up the lottery.

Yup.  I managed to take out about 4x my initial investment and still end up with the same number of coins due to selling into this crash and rebuying.  Next time around I will focus on increasing my stack.

I have discussed bitcoin with several of my relatives, who are much better financially established than me (at least before bitcoin) who use financial advisors, and when I discuss bitcoin with them, each of them seems very trigger shy, even when I talk with them about low level of dollar cost averaging exposure.

One of my uncles recently seemed to be coming around to the idea because in December he said he was going to "look at" bitcoin after the new year, and then I did not hear from him until last week when he sent me text messages asking me the price direction of bitcoin, and really he was not asking me but instead wanting to confirm his theory to wait until $3k or some other low and unspecified price point.. and further he had mentioned that he was considering GBTC.... Surely I gave him a bit of an earful (in the form of text), but I doubt whether he is really listening to me, even though I have been periodically mentioning this Bitcoin stuff to him for about 3.5 years or so (since about August 2014).

My point is that smart peeps with financial advisors might be worse off than those who do not rely upon financial advisors because it remains quite difficult for so many smart people to get the recommendations of their financial advisor out of their head.. and then the ongoing onslaught of the mainstream media that nearly always is either talking about bitcoin bubble or it's imminent death or fear of govt regulation or some other nonsubstantiated corporate shill and bearish claims.

who tells those normie clowns about their crypto?  nothin to worry their little heads about, their advice is not needed nor valuable here.  They need to concentrate on trying to catch up with inflation, and other little numbers.

The general consensus is we are going down further, maybe to re-test the 6k range or below.  Im hoping we do so I can go all in.  What a great opportunity it was last time and I missed out.  I dont plan on making the same mistake again.
