Do y'all have a moment to talk about adamstgBit's vision?

More posts per page iirc.

Yes, in order to scale we need to first up the number of posts to 160 per page rather than 20. Later on we need to remove the cap and have an unlimited number of posts per page.

Or we could better trim the quotes, leaving only a link to the quoted post, so that we have more space in the same post to include several replies. Much more efficient than having to load a gigantic webpage for every single refresh that only users browsing from a datacenter could display.

Should we also add a layer on top of it? That way people can keep making microposts of 1 character at a time.

If you don’t validate every post, how can you defend yourself from double post attacks?

Oh yeah, maybe a chat box on the side, so that we can shitpost instantaneously without wasting precious thread space. There is no need to have shitpost like this stored on the main thread forever.

If you're not willing to pay for the security and permanence of transacting on the main thread, there are layer 2 solutions.

Forget the coffee. Covfefe is much better and has no risk whatsoever of having an executive order banning US citizens from purchasing it.

You folk are getting a bit too exuberant and need to settle the fuck down.  We have 3 green dailies that’s all.  Go back to being miserable.

It is rather humorous how fickle our collective emotions are.  We are supposed to be the hardened hodlers here, beyond worrying about the ephemeral whims of the market, but no.

You can if we add lightning payments to the trollbox !

I don’t think you have really thought through the consequences of what you are suggesting.

This is great news. Only 8% currently own cryptos, and another 8% plan to. IOW, the number planning to get in will double the ranks of crypto owners. BullishAF.

Assuming that's correct, we'll be in for another mega-rally. Not entirely convinced about some of their numbers though. Adding up the amounts invested works out at around $70 billion, for example:

Coin___________Pop. %Avg. Invested (USD)Total Invested (USD)*
Bitcoin5.15%
3,453.89
57,631,610,000
Ethereum1.80%
1,243.42
7,251,625,000
Bitcoin Cash0.90%
636.22
1,855,218,000
Ripple0.85%
299.06
823,611,300
Cardano0.45%
84.22
122,792,760
Stellar Lumens0.40%
151.38
196,188,500
Other0.75%
388.33
943,641,900
68,824,685,880
*based on 324 million Americans.

Thats complete nonsense.  Not a chance 5% of americans have Bitcoin, let alone each one of them putting $3500 into it.

Can you elaborate why not?

I think that people speculate that the total world adoption is likely less than .5%..... which would be around 35million... and the article seems to be speculating about 17 million americans, when maybe less than 10 million would be more realistic, maybe even less than 5 million.
At my work I interact with hundreds of people of all ages and backgrounds on a day to day basis.  While many of them have heard of Bitcoin (largely due to the mania at the end of last year), I estimate 99%+ could not give detailed instructions on how to purchase, move, hold and secure BTC.  99.5% could not explain how BTC and its blockchain works.
I work with 50 people.  Only two of us have crypto, despite everyone talking about it last year and me convincing people they should get into the space.  None of them pulled the trigger.
If we are talking about 8% of 25-34 year old males, then maybe.  But 8% of everyone.  I just dont believe that.

I haven't even bothered to read the source because I call bullshit without doubt. Is the sampling criteria detailed?

I am mostly sure that, if they really did any sampling it was completely biased. Ie: what would happen if I decide to ask users of reddit... would that be a good criteria to extrapolate to the total population? Of course not. What if I decided to ask Bitcointalk users? ......

Something is very, very wrong, in the sampling methodology... if there is any at all!

That said, the interesting data one could try to extrapolate is that, from that sampling, there is the same amount of people that already have Bitcoin than there are decided to buy some this year (equally biased 8% vs 8%). But even that I would take it with a giant grain of salt.

I know quite a few business clients that come into my work, they are mostly middle aged or older.  none of them have a clue about crypto.
I know someone in their early 30s who manages peoples wealth.  Ive been told his book is worth 800 million CAD.  None of that is in crypto and he would not advise them to invest in it either.
I believe adoption is much lower, maybe 2-3% who actually understand, purchase, secure and follow crypto.

You are probably right.

All I'm suggesting is if someone makes a truly amusing comment or something in the trollbox, fuck sMerit, send him a cheap BTC micropayment for the funny, via LN.

I'm sure the backend setup would be a bit of a nightmare, and getting users onto the network and get channels funded would take some time, but being forward-looking, I bet we see something like this roll out in the next year. Not here, but elsewhere. Maybe.

That, sir, would be a perfect use case for LN initial testing and deployment on scale.

I was more worried about coming home, smelling smoke and finding charred troll and shitposts all over the ceiling.

My Auditor for my government regulated investment fund advised me 3 years ago and every year since to invest in other options besides crypto.

I just keep laughing

He has suggested the fund runs at a high risk and should be under further review, yet I have x10 on my initial investment
