I think we will hit or at least come within striking distance of $1,000. I think the biggest thing right now is Segwit/Scaling-issues. As soon as this is resolved, we will see the market choose a direction. It will definitely make a shift, but we will have to see whether that is up or down.
^up and awayyyyy :-D Frankly I would prefer the scaling debate to come to an end more than I would want us to go on a moon shot. The worrying thing is Segwit is stalling for adoption. The current 25% mining power going to Segwit is nowhere near enough, and I have strong doubts any scaling solution will gain that much marketshare. With Bitcoin major mining pools making up more than 5% of the network [per pool] just one owner of a pool is all it takes for the change not to go through. That is insane for something as "decentralized" as Bitcoin [I know the centralization of Bitcoin has long been acknowledged].

Almost makes one wonder why the oh-so-prescient core devs/blockstream employees/AXA proxies choose a 95% activation rate.

About patriarchal vs matriarchal societies, I think it's clear we're transitioning from a male dominated society to a more male/female balanced society. In nature there are successful examples of all types of these hierarchical organizations. Female dominated species aren't less violent in general by the way, but we do see that in the more balanced animal species there tends to be less aggression, more cooperation and the differences between males and females are also smaller. So I'm sorry if you are a testosterone driven male human who feels like only men are uniquely qualified to run our society, but your days are numbered. As a guy who has lived overseas for the past 5 years or so, I will definitely never go back to American women. They're just not as feminine as the ladies I have interacted with in Europe and Asia. They aren't trying to be men and men aren't trying to be women. The differences are a good thing.

I am sure that a lesser level could be reconsidered if it seems to be a practical and the 95% is not working.

Good AM Bitcoinland. Happy new month.
I see we're holding on to yesterday's gains... $977USD (Bitcoinaverage) and keeping 2017 in the green.
A little consolidation following yesterday's little rally is a good thing. Taking a breather between legs up will probably lead to a better sustained rally past $1000 and on to the awaited ATH.

I predict we'll bounce against the $1,000 ceiling a few times and "fall" all the way back down to the $930s then settle back in to the $950-$970 range for a while (but not too long).

does anyone think FOMC meeting today will affect the bitcoin price after decision? if i recall, every time federal reserve keeps the federal funds rate the same, hold will shoot up, and US dollar index will go down. As The Fed continues to prop up our fake economy with artificial interest rates and skewed inflation, and bitcoin seems like gold 2.0, wouldn't it make sense for btc to price to shoot up after meeting? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga3maNZ0x0w im gonna watch it live here to see what happens, but i predict Federal Reserve will keep its main rate on hold at 0.50-0.75%. CME group shows probability at 96% of the federal funds rate staying the same, so it could already be priced in.

No, I don't trade. I'm a saver/hoarder. My Bitcoin holdings are primarily a nest egg for my old age. I acquire bitcoins whenever the price dips significantly and hold tight unless I absolutely need to buy some dollars. For example, I bought 3 times in early January, once on the initial PBOC rumor panic, again 2 days later when it dipped even deeper, and finally on the day the PBOC went door-to-door and the price hit its bottom. I had previously bought in early November after having previously having bought the dips in June and July. I have no plans to "cash out". I'd rather wait and spend my coins as I need to. Because I acquired my first coins when they were worth double digits, I've managed to put together a nice little bag to hold. I see price rise, I buy. I see price fall, I hodl.
I'm the opposite. I see the price rise, I hold. I see it fall, I buy. This is why I follow the price closely... mostly to not miss any buying opportunities. It's also entertaining.

I agree, $1000 always seems to trigger lots of people to sell. I don't know why but that's their decision. I'm looking forward to seeing $1000 act as a solid support.

As long as the Fed keeps rates unchanged, the fake stock market will continue to hit new highs despite all the negative/falling economic indicators to the contrary. Once they begin to raise rates, the house of cards in the market will start to crumble. It really is like 2008 all over again.

Patrick Byrne on FOX tv, this guy is one of those awesome Bitcoin frontrunners Overstock +16%, good job Patrick! Nice, I am always curious about Overstock's earnings the more they keep bitcoins. The media made sure to highlight their bitcoin holdings when the price was going down. As their assets are more bitcoins than anything else their earnings will rise closely with the bitcoin price.
