I recently asked the IRS if I could pay taxes in Bitcoin. They said unfortunately no, taxes need to be paid in US currency as that is the reason for US currency to exist.
I could pay through bitwala, so I would not need a Euro bank account and still be able to pay my taxes, but I still would be paying in Euro's.

As the market looks now bitcoin price should continue going sideways until 1st August and moon probably to $3500 then steadily to $5000. It has a triple confirmed support line at ~$2420 so I can hardly see it go below that, but even if it goes that's a great buying opportunity as it will most surely moon after Segwit is implemented.  Wink

I'm hoping it goes up a bit after the weekend. The bank wires start getting processed then, and when they reach exchanges the extra fiat might push the price upwards. However, it has been going sideways a long time so maybe it will just continue sideways.

JJG seems to have less incentive to say a whole lot of nothing. Honestly, we couldn't have planned this better if we tried. Cheesy

Because the wall observing thing is just a smokescreen for our real activity here? Smiley

I haven't seen a real (not spoofed) large wall in ages. There have been some real medium size though.

Also I think most people are observing Bitstamp/Kraken/Bitfinex... but not GDAX.

P.S.: And who has hacked JJG account? What's up with that *SIX* word post?!??!

I don't even know what a wall is and I've been lurking since 2013 and joined in 2014. I just come here for the gifs and memes.

Great to have this thread back again.

So has infofront assassinated Adam or something? What's the deal there?

Supposed walls have vanished too often upon approach to be really meaningful and often indicate a movement in the opposite direction - eg buy walls might exist to fill sell order in front of them  Wink

If 2500 is breached on Stamp here, we're going to see some downside.

Otherwise bot trading still in control.

BitFinex lost $2500 a couple hours ago and isn't showing strength to recover so far...

Relatively speaking, trading volume feels so anemic though.  It's like the bots are just on auto, traders still on vacation. Tongue

Guys are holding on until past or during Aug 1st for the real action. What happens now is nothing. Sure, it's not fun, but it's understandable traders aren't doing much these days.

+1
But kitten pics are too few! Also, I'm interested in real content pearls emerging from the noisy chatter.
Happy to see the thread back on its feet. I'm a long-time lurker too, just joined a few weeks ago.

Kraken just verified my account to Tier 2. It took them less than 2 months. Not bad, eh? They must have very little to do these days.

As for the "what's gonna happen" poll, I can't vote cuz I'm a newbie, but my guess is we'll see some slight upward action sooner than August (say high 2600s to low 2700s), then maybe some more sideways motion or even a slight but significant dip as big money hone their swords. Then in August, I don't think we're really going to the moon, but I'm expecting 3k-3.5k when the dust settles (late Aug/early Sep).

I would say this is the calm before the storm.

I suspect that as Aug 1st gets closer people will have itchy trigger fingers on both sides of the aisle sending the price all over the place.

Though detaching the price from any known position does tend to send it upwards to higher rates. Of course followed by several crashes, etc.
