The heavy-handed response of the Spanish government only served to increase support for Catalan independence. The world saw images of bloodied elderly women and ballot boxes being seized.

Do Spanish politicians have no political nous whatsoever? It's like they selected the dumbest response possible. All they need to do now is bombard Barcelona and laud themselves internationally.

freedom of information

Not to be pedantic, but I am not sure the MKUltra documents were released pursuant to  5 U.S.C. § 552.  I was under the impression they came to light as a result of the Church committee report with further clarification in the '84 GAO report.

Regardless, we know full well what they do.  Nice segue back to BTC by the way.   Wink

It's not ENTIRELY off-topic.... Bitcoiners have wildly differing views on Big Government, but most of us distrust it for good reason, (including stupid human tricks like MK Ultra) which is why we love BTC

Bearwhales probably playing on fears of a head and shoulders pattern emerging. Bull case is still intact from my perspective though.

Oh, it has been in your country for quite som while now, remember the civil war? (no, not personally).
The Spanish police throwing a few people down the stairs when a state tries to secede is pretty calm compared to throwing the country into a civil war when a state wants to secede.

^^ This.

But there is only ONE state in Spain. There are some people that seem to want to "secede".... We are fine with that, as long as they do it outside Spanish territory. Maybe they should move to France and try to do that stunt there... I don't think their police will be as soft with their "secesion" attempts.

I think Catalonia considers themselves to be a state, I mean, they even have their own president and police.

They can consider whatever they want, but it isn't.

Spain has 17 "autonomous comunities" which are regions where SOME estatal (there is only ONE state: Spain) competencies have been delegated. Thus they all have their own LOCAL regional representatives... but there is only one President of the Spanish Government and one King (whose function in practice and by law is more "PR" than "ruling").

They do have a president of their region (as do have the other 16) but think about him more as the equivalent of a city major but on a regional level. Regions are not states. So this is more like if tomorrow Las Vegas tried to secede from United States.

Most of spanish people is in favor of the supression of ALL autonomies for the main reason that it represents a HUGE economic burden because of the redundancy of some functions and costs.

And then, there are some regions such as Cataluña that have been as much benefited from this system that they keep "pressing" trying to obtain more and more using the constant "menace" of "independence".

We are completely fed up by that attitude and many consider this is an extortion to the state that should have been put to an stop many years ago.

In fact the extortion is going the opposite way. Why do you think State-sponsored violence to stop peaceful voting has become necessary? If Catalonia was poor and a net bludger they wouldn't bother with spending resources keeping them in Spain. It is because Catalonia is wealthy and supplies a huge amount of the taxes to the bludging, corrupt, free-loaders in the south that they send in Policia to keep the gravy flowing ... it's the usual violence for money racket that happens with all loser Socialist governments all around the world. Basically it really is armed robbery or 'extortion'. But there is also a bigger picture.

https://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/05/catalonia-is-critical-contributor-to-spains-economy.html

Quote
Despite only accounting for about 16 percent of the Spanish population, Catalonia represents about 25 percent of all Spanish exports, and it accounted for 23 percent of all Spanish industry, according to the regional government.

Why is the EU silent on blatant facism (police brutality to prevent democratic voting) inside it's members? Because Spain is so loaded up with unsustainable debt that if Spain goes bankrupt so does the EU blow up. If Catalonia leaves Spain then the EU is finished, bankrupted, over. Just when International democratic condemnation of facist Spain should have been reaching a fever pitch, USA has yet another mass-shooting event. How extraordinary that the global financial system seems to keep getting saved by these exquisitely timed 'terror' and mass-shooting events.

If any one of these aces should pull out of the global financial system house of cards, the entire edifice that is the global debt pyramid will collapse. The stakes could not be higher, anything goes now for the "overseers" who know the stakes and have access to the resources to create events that 'bend' the will of the people at critical junctures.

I don't see any conspiracy here. Just another tragic crime.

The alleged gunman was a patsy, and the conspiracy is to sell more metal detectors to further enrich rabbi Chertoff & C. as announced on 4chan 3 weeks ago:

Talking your book, eh ? Cheesy

No.  I don't trade like that or participate in this thread like that.

As I have stated numerous times, I have a system in place already that pretty much buys BTC as the price goes down and sells BTC as the price goes up.  For a large majority of the time, I do not take any extra position based on what I think that the price might do, except perhaps a little here and there on the margins.

And, even when I have some kind of theory about what I think that the price might do, I might tweak my thinking by 5% or maybe 10%, but it is usually not enough to take any kind of  strong stance outside of my already existing system.

So in that regard, I was just describing a kind of hunch that I had about the current market dynamics.  As we know, the price correction from mid September took us down about 40% from the top to below $3k, and then we got a rebound to $4,150, and then another correction to $3,550... so going up to $4,450 in the past day or so.

Accordingly, I thought it could be possible, perhaps, that we could have another oscillation that might go as low as $4200.. but surely it does not matter too much to me either way because I follow my already existing system .. and I just tweak my system in relatively small ways, here and there.

Am I wishful thinking ?

No. Just completely ignorant of maths.

Just counting on some crazy exponential adoption. Grin It's impossible to compare the linear Bitcoin increase to anything else.

Edit: Fyi, Dotcom peak would account for ~1600k $/BTC prices.

I see your general point.  It's an interesting proposition.  Exuberant, yes.  But we may indeed be seeing the biggest market bubble in thousands of years on either side.

If the encryption behind bitcoin is not broken, the next 5 - 10 years will tell the tale.

-edit-  actually 5-10 is damn conservative.  2 years should be enough to really start the story.

As long as we stay comfortably above $4k for a while, I'll be happy. No idea what October will bring, but here's hoping for it peaking back to near $5k by Halloween.

I don't know, if we are talking about a whole month or even a whole two months, because we should consider the projected Segwit2x hardfork in about mid-November, I see our current price range as $3600 to $4500 - however it seems so likely we are going to get at least one price trajectory beyond the $5k mark before mid-November.

There is a lot of downward pressure right now.. or at least a holding pattern.. but at the same time, the bearwhales cannot get the price to go down.  Maybe we could go down to $4200 before resuming our upwards, perhaps?

Bearwhales probably playing on fears of a head and shoulders pattern emerging. Bull case is still intact from my perspective though.

yeah, there is no real way that I am turning bearish about these kinds of temporary interruptions to what seems to be ongoing upwards, even if we were to have some kind of temporary additional correction... the bear case surely isn't there, in spite of some possible shorter term temporary victories in which they hold back the rise and get a little downward here and there.
