Well   A. Thats not a date and
           B. When is it determined you win?

I win after each incorrect date passes. If the price passes $24777 I lose.

It's not complicated, really.

I think you don't get it. It's a Gödel theorem thing. If the price doesn't pass 24.777K you never win, since you have to wait forever to prove that you are right.
If bitcoin collapses you lose too, since it would meant that you were allowed to bet on an infinity numberof winning dates, that would be incorrect.
No, I get it.

I'm saying fuck your positive confirmation bias.

I'm okay with never winning as the majority never will. But I don't lose until someone wins or it touches $24,777 so if you're so sure it will come, then that will obviously be the resolution that occurs first. A far cry from infinity.

This works regardless of your recognition of the fact because it is my entry. TYVM

So anyone buying their other half or family members some BTC for Christmas?

I've given each of the progeny (3 kids, 2 inlaws, 2 grandkids) 1 BTC each of the last three xmases. I see no reason to divert. This year, they'll be wrapped in Ledger Nano Ss.

O.k.

I understand that each of us have our proclivities for generousity, or not, but that sounds financially ridiculous for normal people.

I am presuming that you and I have similar quantities of bitcoin, and it seems ridiculous to me to give away gifts that are valued at about 40x more than they were two years ago and three years ago - merely because it is your tradition to give away the unit value of bitcoin, but bitcoin is measured in terms of dollars - and 40x just seems too outrageous.

Awww come on JJG lighten up.  The man can do what he wants with his Bitcoin and it's family for crying out loud!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that jbreher doesn't fall into the financially normal category anyway.

I have always presumed jbreher is probably at least in the 4 digits BTC, maybe even in the (low) 5's.... Which is one of the reasons I have always wondered and tried to understand why he decided to go the "wrong way" (Jihan/Ver/Bcash) with so much at stake.

JJG is most probably in the (low) three digits.

... Of course that are just my estimations I take out my ass. Might perfectly be wrong.

And anyone can do whatever he feels like with his stuff!

so every shitcoin is pumping hugely but BTC is only moving slowly. What the fuck, all of a sudden BTC is shit or something.

There are a lot of factors here. 1- BTC holders released a ton and exchanged to fiat because of the season. 2-Devs of altcoins are pumping value by releasing some share for purchase for those who got scared of segwit2x.
but I really don't think Bitcoin would be shit- ever even if other altcoins outperforms them in terms of numbers. Bitcoin could be of holding value or the main source of value of all coins just like gold and so on.

They were in the playing field first, and all other coins just like in any other industry are competition, I'm sure there will be HUGE comeback coming.

I haven't worked out estimates of jbreher's (or anyone else's) stash, but the man strikes me as a rational thinker with much at stake since a long time. So I also tried to understand the reasons for his choice, and I asked him explicitly. Unfortunately, his explanations with regard to bigblockery/Verism etc. always came short. Disappointing underperformance for a good poster, accurate checker of facts, numerical literate such as he is.

Good morning and a very merry Xmas to all in Bitcoinland, bulls and bears, big- and small-blockers, investors and traders alike.

Peace on earth and goodwill towards all humans.
_______

Not much change, still bouncing along in the $14k range... currently $14245USD/$18134CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Old coins total $17531USD/$22317CAD each (Coinmarketcap).

Seems like we'll probably be going sideways in this range for a few more days before continuing on upward toward new highs.

This is a good thing. We could all use a nice holiday after the frantic excitement of December.

Eat, drink and be merry.

I am assuming you are talking about the false breakout to 16k, since it is now 14k.

Can you explain why this was obvious in hindsight? I'm just curious, because I thought it could stabilize at around 16k, high 15k.

Honestly, hard to say. Just... Instinct? The way it was bouncing in such a narrow channel, then broke up and started falling. Should have known it would keep dropping way lower like it did.

Pineapple fund is now dropping BCore Coin as well... they make million dollar donations to charity and they can't even use BCore Coin due to fees.

This is the second charity in two days that I've seen drop Bitcoin Core in the past few days.

Pale Moon also stopped accepting donations as well. https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=17826

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Bitcoin is under attack by members of its own community.

I began noticing some serious infrastructure changes in the Bitcoin.it wiki in October and it has been an evolving thing since then.  I absolutely think MidnightMagic and other major players in Bitcoin are actively working to destroy our investments.

The "we are big enough that we don't need *you*" mindset is absolutely going to destroy Bitcoin Core.

If you can't buy an 8th of weed for $40 because the fee to pay the vendor costs more than the bag of pot... there is a issue for sure.  Personally, I believe there is an issue if Bitcoin can't be used in vending machines.

I read the reddit post.

So, why are they not using Litecoin, which is a well-established coin, and instead they suggest using Bcash, which is a fork in its infancy and governed by lunatics (read their "Letter from the CEO" as proof of lunacy)? I sense something fishy going on there...

Cause Litecoin fucking sucks.

No one wants to use Litecoin... sorry I know that is heartbreaking for all of y'all shitcoiners.

People want to use Bitcoin because of the historical value behind it and the number of real transactions on it.

Why use a shitcoin with a totally different blockchain when you can use Bitcoin Cash that has the same historical blockchain as what Satoshi and Ross used?

But... Bcash is not Bitcoin!

It absolutely is Bitcoin.

Litecoin is not Bitcoin because it does not care the history in the blockchain from Bitcoin... it has a totally different blockchain.  BCash and Bcore share the exact same history prior to August 1, 2017.

I'm not sure why this is so hard for people to grasp.
