At least ignoring people makes the page catch-up quicker.... But does no one else think some things are beyond the pale?

I just despair of a worldwide forum supposedly devoted to freedom for all being so intolerant and ignorant sometimes. I guess it's me that's the oddball looking at the shit that passes by here as 'normal' as far from it.  I have punched people for less, and yep, had the shit kicked out of me for objecting, too.

However, I don't think advocating racism and even genocide on here is anything but abhorrent and I never will, so I can't change my spots.

I cannot tolerate it when my forbears fought and were prepared to (and sometimes did) die to fight this, so I think I had better stop lurking here.

I  temp. unignored a few of these racists to find out what had pushed you over the edge.

None of them say anything useful about bitcoin or the price or the world. Unlike you, who occasionally...

They must have been very hurt somewhere along the line to be so rabidly, rigidly raging.

I don't argue with them, because they certainly won't change in the face of logic.

Horrified newbies will always engage them, so their cries will leak into one's feed.

Maybe we should engage those newbies with stirring little speeches rather than running away.
Protip: Everyone is racist. Just a matter of if you prefer your own kind, or others.

It is also, obviously, a necessary trait. When two groups meet and one wants to wipe the other out, and the other does not, guess who dies?

And all the emotional language you people use is a sign of weakness. It's a clear sign that that's all you have. You have no arguments, only emotional outrage. Much like a two year old.

I retired before I was 40 thanks to crypto.  Fear not, you won't regret it. Best. Decision. Ever.

What do you do instead?
Some work is healthy for you, keeps you on your toes; it doesn't have to be a 9-5 type job.

I went back to school to study based on personal interests instead of studying something solely in order to get a job at the end.  And I'm learning music, writing, travelling and generally keeping myself busy, instead of being kept busy by an employer.

To me this sounds more like a hiatus/recharging batteries/changing life direction than a real long term retirement.
Prediction: you'll be back..sometime. Nothing wrong to work for yourself either as in owning a business.

Yeah, I agree that's what I thought it might have been too - an opportunity to recharge.  However, having now been retired for several years, I can confirm that I'll definitely not be returning to work.  I considered starting a business (again) but could find little attractive about that option.  Folk often say that they'd have to carry on working if they won the lotto, just to give themselves something to do.  To me, that seems to be the sign of a small mind - there are so many interesting things to do out there, places to visit, things to learn, people to meet, discussions to be had - all of which are so much more enjoyable when they don't have to be done in order to earn a wage.

For so many, the need to work gets in the way of being able to do or try all of those things. Work uses up so much of our time that it gets in the way of life.

Thankfully I'm in very good health and enjoy an outdoor lifestyle, which I can now pursue without having to squeeze in x hours per day at a place I don't want to be and, often, with people I don't want to be with.  Sure, early retirement isn't for everyone, I guess it depends on your personality type.

I'm also enjoying being able to help out friends and family financially and watch them pursue their own goals, which wouldn't have been possible for them without a helping hand. That makes me really happy.

...
Yet the price of Tether haven't really crashed. BUT... what has crashed is all the crypto market which I think could be related. What if it was Tether/Bitfinex that had USDT somewhat backed.... NOT by USD but by a mix of USD, BTC and many other crypto?

If that were the case they would have been forced to liquidate those crypto assets to maintain the USDT peg stable. And, having to back more than 2 billion dollars overnight requires a lot of dumping, which causes panic and many other people dump too. Also as the price of the crypto assets go lower, more (coin units) dumping is required to extract the same value.... and there you have your doom circle.

Is that what has happened? Maybe, or at least it has been one in many factors behind the "crash".

Good post.

What if I told you that actually a Bitfinex employee (bfx_drew) (accidentally?) blurted out exactly this
a few weeks ago?

Most of us know that it is highly unlikely that institutional investors
have wired 2.2 billion $ and 85 M € to a sketchy entity like Tether.
However, it is entirely possible that Tethers are actually backed by cryptocurrencies.
E.g. exchanges like Binance make a ton of income in trading fees, but they collect
it in various altcoins and not in fiat and they surely would prefer to hold it in a stable coin
like USDT instead of random altcoins.

That this could be a problem in the event of falling prices is obvious as
@bitserve correctly pointed out in his post.

As a newbie here, from my point of view, in 2017 the flippening into alt coins to get investors interest. From hedge funds to workers like me started the crazy Bitcoin business.
1. In all of the 2017, the price rises sharply but at the end of the year, big players would like to shake as many people out and away from Bitcoin then go back again. Because they already know the future is inevitable obviously and no one can stop this. What they can do are to let as less people as they can to share the cake.
2. In 2017, governments come to admit the existence of cryptocurrency and balance the environment to avoid fall behind.
3. Stocks also proved this in 2017.
Therefore, I'm optimistic enough that price would rise up to at least $10000. What we should do is to buy, buy, buy and hold, hold, hold.

It was just a typo. Things have a tendency to take on a life of their own though, like the Ugandan Knuckles conglomerate of memes for example.

Cologne. Nice. Hundreds of other mass murders, thousands of promises to take over our lands, backed by action at that. And you think the problem is westerners who want to defend their people.

In war people like you are called traitors. And peace is a temporary situation.

We'll face resistance now.
Likely short lived though.

From here it's either down fast and soon with next stop 3,3k or up to 10,2k in about a week. Upside more likely.

And the next resistance back up should be around 9,2k. Still going with the 10k timeline. The 3k3 scenario is mostly ruled out until the next hit of 10k.

There now as I also assumed for a start level 6k stood and the rebound from it went, I wrote about it earlier. Now even in news change of a background of news and this beginning of formation of a new bottom is observed. Perhaps there will also be a new updating of a bottom, but think there will be sharp rebounds and it is informidable. Truth already where that nearby. So far I think of any big growth to say a little early. Most likely so far the movement sideways for several months.

The price will probably stick at $6666 for a while.

Seems like floating around 6800, trying to go higher, but stable
Curious what tomorrow will bring, hope there is some good news from that American governement meetup.
Wow sad satate of bitcoin to hope for good news from US gov.
On the news there is nothing good, it's a little alarming. But the level of 6k really wonderful, at least near the truth. Very similar that goes out near the hearth.
