How do you guys deal with excessive drinking?

I’m Italian.

I am sorry to hear that. Suddenly my excessive drinking doesn't seem so bad.

How do you guys deal with excessive drinking? I mean, I'm functional, but would still like to cut down.

I had to just stop it all together, and sought the support of AA for a few years. If you feel that you may have developed a physical dependency, (like having to drink everyday to avoid the shakes,) I would seek medical advice before attempting to stop or cut down.

It's not a physical dependency, more stress related. All the personal shit that used to fuck with me is taken care of; finances, personal freedom, usual bullshit. What's bothering me now is that as far as I can tell the entire west is heading towards a financial and cultural collapse. Soviet style on a grand scale.

My health is actually improving even as I continue to drink almost as much as before. But it's a bad habit that has to be gotten rid of.

i had a easy evening as well..... just a BIG gin tonic and a bottle of wine with my GF stephdad so nothing to crazy.

(no coins talk cause the stephdad is kind of a NOCOINER, just don't understand it, keep saying its air not backed by anything and all the noises...., lost hope in that one if its about BTC)

How much does one need to drink daily to develop physical dependency? I guess it depends on the person, but still maybe you can give a reference?

I think I am in the same boat (no pun intended) than Ibian... completely functional, almost no effect (except the weight gain), but still an absurdly high amount of daily alcohol consumption since maaaaany years ago. I did switch from whisky+coke to beer and wine since I stopped smoking though. That was easy.

I did give a reference. Please see the part that I have now made in bold. If you stop drinking cold turkey and as a result, your hand develops a slight tremor, that's a good sign that you have developed a physical dependence.

I have Ibian ignored, but I find "cold turkey" works best, provided you aren't a completely alcohol-dependent degenerate, in which case, I understand there may be some possibly life-threatening withdrawal symptoms to deal with (eg: delirium tremens complications).

Emotionally, it helps to treat alcohol with disdain and hatred for a little while. "Fuck this alcohol. Why am I drinking so much and letting it rule my life. I'm the boss of me. I'll show it !!!" sorta thing, and mind-trick yourself into having the fortitude to maintain restraint for a while.

I just had a single Greyhound to unwind a bit. Had another three beers with Rick earlier in the week after he had a rough day at the office.

4 drinks total in one week is progress I can live with, compared to a six-pack-of-beer a day prior trend.

Don't plan on drinking any more this weekend...

It's tough - responsible adulting.

i think most in here don't have a real DRINKING problem, as myself i almost only drink when i go out for dinner or saturdays.....or @the summer when sitting on a terrace etc.....

but when i drink something then i can enjoy it very much (or when BTC skyrockets then we have to pop some crazy shit as well    )

home early, going to sleep early and only very early stage of beeing drunk THATS the best one to fall a sleep with

This is another case where it is better you can document and explain sudden wealth ie. the origins of it.

Of course, Charlie Shrem should be attempting to live more discretely, especially since he had already gone to prison, and there will be presumptions against him, which could send him back to the slammer - especially if civil pursuits against him end up revealing criminally relevant information.

Now he will probably need to either prove (with full blockchain trace) he had those Bitcoins before the hack or he invested a bunch of money after his release from prison AND how did he obtained the funds to do so. If he can't do that... well...

It seems that the Winklevi had a P.I. on him for quite some time before suing.

Oh, and I seem to remember Roger Ver and others lend/donated some funds to Shrem for his defence because he couldn't afford it.

In essence, Charlie seems a bit fucked because he seems to want to stay in the limelight - but maybe it is just a personality trait (flaw) of someone who comes into the bitcoin space as an early "mover and shaker."    With the passage of time, we will see how this plays out.... If Charlie has a good attorney, the attorney may be able to negotiate some kind of "reasonable" settlement that satisfies the seeming winklevoss persistence.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still as flat as Britney Spears without autotune... currently $6361USD/$8346CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Couldn't wait any longer, sold a couple of coins to pay for my trip/implants. Didn't do too badly. I got just over $8kCAD per coin in a semi-OTC transaction with an ATM operator.

Could have been worse.

So far, when you sell BTC the price goes down, and when you buy BTC the price goes up, so I am afraid that this news is not a good sign.  

The other side of human nature, that folk have quoted on here a lot, is that when the price is $18k EVERYONE flocks to BTC and the volume goes up.

Now at $6,165 USD BTC... everyone has gone home. No Volume at all! Just goes to show, I'm not the only one who, who has this ass backwards, on how

this whole crypto thing is supposed to work!

Yeah, even if you failed to sell high, you did not buy high, so you remain in much better shape than the average FOMO inspired buyer.  Same is true with Jimbo.  His sales are in a position of considerable profit, even if they are much lower than what they "could have been."

Of course, it seems likely if you can HODL through this seemingly long consolidation period, then you will be just fine and continue to be above and beyond the average FOMO inspired BTC buyer.
