Why are you prepared to risk your manuro coins on these contraptions but not your proper bitcoins?

I own a Ledger Nano S and use it with BTC and Monero. And have a Trezor One and keep some BTC on it. I meant a Trezor Model T in my earlier post... I think these contraptions offer a nice gobetween for cold storage and a usable wallet.

Even if cryptocaps are backed by the appropriate amount of physical hats, it's abundantly obvious they have no schelling point and thus we're setting ourselves up for hatastrophe

Funny you ask - you're spot on. I am dubious about any decent amount of coin value being on a device. I got two Ledgers and a Trezor late last year and I have used none of 'em. It was around all the BTC forks that I was tempted - I found having to move coins and re-make all the wallets was such a pain. After Bitcoin Gold I gave up. It's been a year now - feel I ought to at least try with a bit - some people swear by hardware wallets, but I am probably too old school. Paper wallets feel simple and secure enough.

Agreed, but you forgot the swastika. Oh, it's in there somewhere Your avatar is quite puzzling and it also contains some rotation metadata. I hope it looks alright! avatar-sized

Maybe I'll actually open up one of the Nano S boxes

What I'm hearing is that you would like a hat. Make it so!

Maybe I'll actually open up one of the Nano S boxes I haven't bothered putty my XMR on the Nano S. The process seems too cumbersome. Maybe I'll look into the Model T.
