Posted on Bitstamp Twitter account: "Bitcoin has proven to be very robust. Since it was launched on 3. January 2009, the network has been up and running 99.993% of the time. That’s just around 6 hours of downtime in a span of over 9 years.".

I'm surprised that there was actually a downtime. Do you have more information why it was down for 6 hours? was it a single incident or multiple incidents?

A solid 10 seconds of googling revealed:

thanks for googling it for me Smiley

Feels like we are experiencing a repeat of late September/November 2014 the last week or so - a tiny pump (in the grand scheme of things) before the final drop a few months away (January 2015). This would put us at roughly late February/March 2019 for the final drop in this cycle. Hopefully I'm wrong and we've already seen the final drop, in which case we may see a bigger bull run heading into next year, but we need to get above $6k and hodl there with confidence for a bit of time first.

I vividly remember that 30K wall @300. Was feening to deposit fiat, but it was a weekend. Everyone thought the bear market was over, cuz the wall got eaten so fast.

Are we going to $4,000 boys? It sure feels like the bear is dead! Is this the part in the cycle where the majority bitches that this is a fools rally? Because it sure feels like it!

Won't even be that surprised if that would end up happening to be fairly honest. Would be insane to end the year on a positive note, great momentum going into Q1 of 2019. Bullish.

Nah. That was a fundamental threat.

Vitalikgate was a only fundamental threat to the money of him and his buddies.

Called it the other day. Was printing money with altcoins rallying and BTC trends have been converging towards flatness. Two very compelling buy signals for BTC. I can still see us going down, but in the short-term thanks for the free corn. Sure feels like FOMO though, as it becomes increasingly evident that institutions are accumulating. At this rate that whole MMO thing might actually work out. Aw jeez forever dot com.

So much for that rally. Was a nice break from the constant daily drops but it looks like we're on our way back to further destruction and misery.

Mornin, thread.  Grin
I congratulate you for your stroke of luck. I understand you don't want to close that crazy long right now: it could indeed make you very rich.

However, I would put a double take profit limit, two orders slightly spaced, or maybe put the "worse" one at market (not limit). You probably know already, but if you choose your order to close on trigger/reduce only, you can input several orders for the same amount, and only one will actually produce effects.

Some redundancy is necessary. The rationale is: don't trust your limits to trigger! Sometimes they don't when the movements are quick. It happened to me a couple of times and I was left in a very tight spot.
