Just went to the bulk food store and bought about $1k worth of food (mainly meat) and vitamins.

They were out of freezers otherwise I would have bought one (and more meat).

Things like this are why I did bitcoin. Not to buy a lambo.

One downside to my current status that I have noted is the lack of freezer space. A good deep freezer doesn't use much power and should be able to run on the solar/battery arrays. I'll keep that in mind and get one later when things are more normal, live and learn.

Why are you people hoarding food?
At lest where I live there is no shortage of anything except hand sanitizer and masks, and that is getting back in stock slowly as well.
I go shopping every third day, because that's when its time to buy more milk, I usually shop right before closing to avoid crowds, but I have done some daytime shopping too and it wasn't so bad, people were distancing.

Here in Panama we are locked down very tight. It has progressively gotten more strict. At the moment, men can only go out on Tuesday and Thursday for 2 hours each day. Women on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Saturday is full lockdown. It didn't start like this.

I live about an hour from the closest grocery store. The last time (a few weeks ago) I went into town the lines outside the main grocery stores were very long (with people all bunched up next to each other) so I went to the smaller shops that sell meat. The meat in Panama is not very good, very tough (I tried dry aging but that did not go well my first try). The beef was gone at that store, half of the food on the shelves was gone.

So I took the 2.5 hour drive to Panama City where they have one of those "Costco" types of stores while I have a special piece of paper that allows me to go into the city. I waited in line outside the store with all of the other men for about an hour (I barely made it into the store within my time window with the guy at the door telling me I have to be out in 20 minutes to be within my time slot).

Most of the food in that store likely comes from the US. Panama is not a farming country. I found out the reason it is not a farming country is due to the inability for farmers to be able to protect their farms from scavengers stealing their food (the locals are mostly thieves of opportunity).

I do not see this lockdown being lifted until at least June. I don't know how much more strict they will get. That may have been the last time I was able to go to the city to buy food until this is over. And at that point...will the supply lines still be there? I'm sure if food is scarce in the US they will not want to export.

Sure, I can survive...I live on the ocean and can fish (illegally but they aren't cracking down), I have fruit trees, we grow veggies, etc.

But we're still building our seastead factory in spite of only being allowed out of our homes for 4 hours a week.

We stay out of our homes so that you can have the option of a future away from tyranny.

The small pump and dumps are noise. Anything at this price level or lower = chances for further accumulation. I would buy the dip if someone dumps now.

The problem is that the doubling time decreases each time. It is becoming obvious that there is an end point. Infinite debt does not exist. At some point, the populace will figure this out.

The Perfect Storm. They will print like never before.

Seriously, I doubt this would have been a problem with Hillary in charge. We'd have other issues like what to do with the budget surpluses and the complete dominance of the dollar over this "bitcoin" thing but that didn't happen and here we are.

That's irrational, arbitrary, counterproductive, and oppressive I would say.  TPTB are seizing an opportunity to impose martial law type powers blindly.
It's not so bad here in Istanbul as it is in Panama.  Stores of many kinds still open on weekdays and we can move around the city.  Public transportation is running.  No intercity travel.  Weekends in Istanbul are effectively total lockdown.  Nobody allowed to leave their houses except to walk to a nearby pharmacy or bakery if necessary.  Nothing else open.  Also, 65 and over can't go out at all, ever.  That's real cruelty.
Following China's example, governments around the world get comfortable squeezing society like a toothpaste tube.  Sheep don't make a peep.

Of course, none of us can really know exactly the "behind the scenes" dynamics in terms of how many coins each bear has on each exchange and any other tricks that they might have up their sleeve in terms of pushing the price in one direction or another and if they are able to push the price in one direction or another or if they have to "let it go."

So yeah LFC, there seems to be a desire to try to keep the BTC price from moving too much in one direction or another, and if there is momentum to go up to attempt to try to keep the BTC price down until such a time that is either more appropriate or NOT overheating.  

Sometimes these seemingly BIG moves can be considered as fake outs, too.. and perhaps there are some bears who have a decent amount of ammunition that they want to dump.. but they are also waiting for enough time to pass, too.... before they either pull such a dumpening trigger or give up on such plan if it seems that the cards are not sufficiently stacking up in their direction.

I am personally inclined to concede that there seems to be decent short-term UPpity pressures, currently, but Jiminy Crickets, I have been fooled previously, so you are not going to find me making any BIG bets... nothing beyond 53.47121% in favor of short term UPpity... call me a party poop, if you must.

We are above the resistance level, that is now support. I expected a bit of a retest of that level.

It could be a go long indicator for those types of guys.

Bitcoin has again been consolidating in a tight range over the last couple of days. Trading in the $7.4k to $7.6k range on what I would call moderate volume. The coming week could prove to be volatile as we enter the last week of trading in April. Monday in particular looks to be quite energetic across all markets. #dyor

The REAL timeline contradicts your mental image.

Bill was a student at the Georgetown University, DC from 1964, then as a junior worked as a clerk for the US Senate Foreign relations Committee.
That committee chair sponsored him for Rhodes Scholarship, and he went to England for two years studying at Oxford (1968-1969).

I don't think Rhodes scholars educated at Oxford pump gas, but maybe you have better knowledge about this.

You would need to be pretty rare beast, in these here parts, to be complaining about UP.  Of course, there are a few, who either sold too much too early and others who are otherwise playing around too much with gambling on hopes for down that may or may not happen.

Personally, I have not really had any problem with being o.k. with down if it happens (because I try to do it myself, in order that I am never disappointed), but of course, if any of us are investing in bitcoin, we should at least be mostly always stacking ourselves in order that we are quite biased towards up...otherwise, why would we be wasting our time with bitcoin and in this thread when we could invest in gold or oil... hahahahaha *(that's supposed to be a joke.. fuck the gold and oil bugs)

Slightly less than an arm and leg I would bet or at least as much as the unit costs. Shipping via container might be a option. Either way...not cost effective I would think..but certainly useful.

Now, the question is what does it mean in relation to gold and bitcoin futures?
Maybe nothing, but I suspect that it means that the spot price of a commodity vs futures could drastically change in a very short time.
I don't have a crystal ball, but it could go either way (down or UP).
Perhaps, it might affect gold more since there is a possibility of a physical gold delivery and CME btc futures settle in cash, not btc.

It's surreal. Almost literally nothing has changed in Denmark. Public gatherings above ten are banned but that barely means anything in this culture, the streets were nice and empty for a short while and now they are full again. The only real change is that things like hair dressers are still closed but that's ending soon too.

Curfews just ensure that everyone will be out at the same time. It has to be done on purpose. Pretending to do something without actually fixing the problem while creating new ones.
