the 'hats upon hats' theory won't wash even here
Do you have any specific points of criticism?

1. Limbic system is a part of all mammals brain, it does not "make us human" and does not make us 'distinct from other animals' as long as you are talking about mammals.
2. Logical part? You mean cortex and neocortex. Many other animals have cortex and dolphins have higher amount of neocortex vs humans.
3. A bit more study of anatomy and physiology would have helped.

1. Right. The human limbic system is similar to other mammals in the same way that our legs are similar to the hind legs of a dog. They are still legs, but distinctly different. So too with the limbic system.

2. Ours is bigger. Literally that, ours is bigger and thus can do more complex things and at a faster rate. What is the issue here?

3. Such as?

A real life story in Houston (secondhand, but reliable): a guy (in his mid thirties) was paranoid re CV and was sitting at home for two months straight (bought lots of groceries beforehand), ordered a keyboard on the Amazon, keyboard did not work to his satisfaction, he went to UPS to return it, forgot to wear mask, returned the item to the store clerk (who was also not wearing the mask). Boom, he became sick in four days and it was a really bad CV to the point that he was updating his will.
Moral of the story: despite being careful, you never know if this thing is gonna get you or not. Almost like a lottery in reverse.

...bitcoin is unaffected, but I am pleased with the price dynamics lately  Grin.

The difference between Sweden and its neighbouring Nordic countries is almost insignificant in terms of mortality.
...last I checked (a few days ago) Sweden had more than 3 times the death rate compared to Denmark. Could be they are just ahead of the curve, but that remains to be seen.

How do you explain this ?
Italians are dirty dirty people.

Now, let me explain to all of you why the Swedish government is not closing down society and quarantining people/closing of areas.

This is a little known fact outside Sweden, and it rarely comes up in the debate.
Neither the Swedish government nor the Swedish parliament has the authority to do that.
The Swedish constitution guarantees all citizens the right to free movement in peacetime, no exceptions but one, people with a dangerous contagious disease can be forcefully quarantined according to the contagious disease act. But that only applies to specific individuals.

A hearty tip of the hat to the Swedes for adhering to their written law. Lord knows we Americans abandoned any such fidelity about a century ago.

And here’s to wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

GTFOH jbreher...

You want to attempt to be consistent?  by bringing some kind of lame ass original intent interpretation to the constitution just like you act like you are doing with BTC's white paper?

Your ideas about "original intent" are looney, nonsensical and failure/refusal to account for human application in either situation...
aka consensus.. ever heard about consensus, compromise, applying theory to fact... etc etc rather than lame ass attempts to impose your theoretical bullshit on others?     Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

2. Yes, some dolphins have more neocortex/cortex (making it "bigger").
3. More term-specific discussion.

I just put bought/ordered stuff in a quarantine room for a couple days and wash hands if I need to touch it during that period. No issues so far.

The lack of testing of workers in hospital and nursing/elderly homes has made the virus spread uncontrollably among our most vulnerable people.

Myself is utterly disgusted how Swedish authorities has handled this pandemic so far.

I don't quite understand your "disgust". The difference between Sweden and its neighbouring Nordic countries is almost insignificant in terms of mortality. Meanwhile the difference between Sweden and the big "lockdown" countries is very large - especially given that it's in the "wrong" direction if you hypothesise that the lockdowns are effective.

How do you explain this ?

Many differencies, of which i'd look at population density, culture (handshakers and huggers vs. vocal greeters), amount of population living in densely populated cities, education (in regard to San Marino)... Quite complex, you probably can't explain these differences using simple, singular arguments.

The studies on transmission are very clear. None of the things you cite feature significantly at an aggregate level. Transmission occurs predominantly indoors with sustained contact. (Which would explain why the "lockdown" countries are experiencing such high rates of transmission compared to the "non-lockdown" countries).

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. No. Sweden has an extremely large number of people who live by themselves. Italy has an extremely large # of people who live with many family members.

Do you ACTUALLY think if you go OUT more you will not get it from your family or roommates?

The REASON most transmission right now happens at home is because transmission can't happen in public very well without gatherings. Otherwise transmission at home would be a MUCH lower %.

How are these basic concepts hard to grasp??

BTW, "sustained contact" is <2 hours. Its why restaurants and parties and nursing homes are such hotbeds for the spread.

1. This chart shows the number of deaths not infections which is a completely different story.
2. toknormal is a legendary BTC bear, troll and shitcoin shill. Wouldn't trust a single word.

Good day Bitcoinland.
Nine seven three three dollars
(Bitcoinaverage).

Up a little bit
Since yesterday and back down
Almost half of that.

Let's keep it rising
Steadily and not too fast.
Ten thousand this week?

Yeah, the more times you roll the dice, the more chances your "prediction" ends up being correct.

We saw how Masterluc's "predictions" worked out in Mindrust's case, as a fellow WO recently commented.

Fcuk him.

When I think of those
Who listen to Masterluc
I use the word "TArd".

1. Better for us. I did not say anything about better or worse, where did this come from?

2. Hard to light a fire under the sea. Or manipulate tools with flippers. Environment matters. Recurring theme. Odd that it needs to be repeated so often, or even pointed out. Anyway I am confused about the point you are trying to make here.

Maybe disgust is a strong word. Let me say I strongly disagree.

The numbers I have is 361 for Sweden, compared to 44 for Norway, 54 for Finland, and 94 for Denmark. That's 8 times as many as in Norway, 7 times as many as Finland, and 4 times as many as in Denmark. I don't see how those numbers are insignificant. To me, a mortality of as many as 8 times more per million inhabitants is quite significant.

Regarding those other numbers of the most affected countries you mentioned.

Let's disregard San Marino, as it's a micro nation with a population of 33k . It's basically just a city within Italy, close to the epicentre of Europe. Comparing that to other countries is a bit unfair I think.

Anyway, comparing the 2nd most affected country, Belgium, to Sweden, we get a mortality of slightly more than double (2.15) per million inhabitants. Yes, that's alot, but still not nearly as high numbers as if we compare Sweden to its other Nordic countries. So insignificant, no, I disagree.

But yeah, I get your point. There are still a handfull of countries with higher mortality per millions than Sweden. How do I explain that? I don't, really. I haven't follow the situation closely enough in those countries to know. Maybe it has to do that those countries, along with Italy, was first affected in Europe and was taken by surprise. Maybe they didn't have enough ICU beds. Maybe the population density is a factor. Honestly, I don't know.

Anyway, I never argued about harder lockdown. I was complaining about the lack of recommendations by the Swedish Health Authority, and how it has affected hospitals and nursing home in particular. With workers not being tested and not wearing protective gear, such as masks. With simple precautions, many lives could have been saved.

From my studies so far it appears to be one of the most important parts of the brain. The most important part of what we call a personality.

Couple important points here. First, it grows over time depending on specific types of life experiences. People with a big amygdala tend to be right wingers and capitalistic. People with a small amygdala plus certain environmental conditions become narcissists and communists.

And in regards to the triune theory, people with a big amygdala use the thinking part of the brain more while people with a small amygdala use the emotional part of the brain most of the time. The literal NPCs people talk about.

A well known dude (@Davinci) is selling the house to buy bitcoin with proceeds (surprisingly, wifey is on board, apparently).
https://twitter.com/Davincij15/status/1260243620956954624

Reactions? A timely move or not? To me, maybe too much risk inasmuch as having a shelter has more meaning than just an investment. In fact, I never thought about the house as an investment, but more like as a place to live without getting bothered by a greedy landlord.

Never bet the house.  Because if you lose, then you don’t have a house.

He is not betting the house, he is selling it. He needs to rent either way.

edit: Not saying it is a good idea, and he should have done it 2 months ago.

Selling is also not good idea in this quarantin days as this can create many problems for seller. Wink

If he needs to sell his house to invest in Bitcoin he should probably not be investing at all or is clearly overinvesting, yup.
